I am a smoker and just took my first cruise.  I would NEVER do something like this.  I did my own research before boarding and determined where the smoking sections were.  On our cruise smoking was not permitted in the casino.  So we had 2 separate designated areas on deck.  That is the ONLY placed I smoked AND I ensured every single butt ended up in the covered ashtray.  It bothers me that smokers can easily get all painted with the same brush when I personally believe it is the minority that are disrespectful.

I absolutely agree.  I am not a smoker, but my friends who are would never do something like this.  It takes a special sense of entitlement, and quite frankly a lazy person, to not just walk to a smoking area.

@twangster, good on you finding out who did this, and taking the time to report it!

After they came and took it away I noticed it had burned a hole in the chair.

Wait, you made someone come and take it away?  Like the crew doesn't have enough to do you dragged them to your room to dispose of a cigarette butt?

Wow.....

They should install a smoke detector hooked up to a sprinkler on every balcony.  Problem solved!😁

I vote for $1000 room cleaning charge and everyone in the stateroom booted off at next port with no refund.  People who do stuff like this are probably the same ones who hog pool chairs.

On my last cruise in November the balcony next to us smoked weed multiple times a day. They also played excessively loud DJ music. One day when coming back to our cabin, security was speaking to the guys. It must of been a gentle talking to because they were at it the next day. I guess they pick and choose who to be strict with.

Wait, weed? That's okay right?

🙂
