I woke up this morning to find this cigarette butt on my aft balcony chair.  Adventure of the Seas, Feb 18, 2022 sailing.

After they came and took it away I noticed it had burned a hole in the chair.

There is no question this cigarette was lit when it was tossed carelessly from a nearby balcony likely on the starboard corner.

We are in the middle of the Gulf right now.  This could have ended really badly.

Please don't be this person.

We woke up this morning to an empty pack of cigarettes on our balcony that was not there last night.  I assume after smoking the last, he/she thru the butt and pack overboard.

That is just disgusting. Even if it did manage to land in the ocean like he/she had hoped it would, that's still littering. Why are people so selfish?

While your intent is good, I have a hard time believing that someone who has ignored all the postings on the ship will listen to a post on CC.

They certainly won't if it's not posted.   You never know if you can reach one person.  If you do then the cost of this post was worth it.

Barely related, but it brings back a funny to me memory from Allure in 2011.  I think we had the last balcony at the rear of the ship on the starboard side deck 12.  At that time, the aft area of deck 12 was a public area with chairs that was a nice place to spend time.   A guy came out for a cigarette thinking it was a safe place to not get caught.   Within a few minutes security came out and made him put it out and escorted him back inside after pointing out he was standing right under a camera.

I wish cruise lines would increase the fine (room cleaning charge) for people smoking on their balconies, then maybe stuff like this would be avoided.  I was on a Disney cruise in Alaska a couple years ago, and the room down the hall was constantly smoking on their balcony.  I’m highly sensitive to smoke so I was constantly on the phone with guest services and couldn’t use my balcony.  They said the most they could do was fine them $500.  They gave me a $500 voucher but it didn’t come close to making up for my inconvenience.  I haven’t cruised them since.

And I thank you for posting.  Just disgusting what some "butt heads" do.  Bad enough with the litter, and disobeying the rules (plus polluting our air time on our own balcony), but indeed the fire danger is....well...just dangerous.

One call I don't want to hear, unless it's drill.  Bravo..Bravo...Bravo.  😲

RCI should throw the offender over board.  👍

I absolutely hate it when people throw their cigarette butts (or flick the ashes) out of their car window.  I've found butts behind my car grill, etc.  And I definitely don't like following inconsiderate smokers when I have my sunroof open.

Keep the disgusting matter IN your car.

IMO, any butt head caught smoking anywhere that isn't an authorized smoking area needs to be kicked off the ship ASAP. Any warning of the violation should be considered their last one. See ya!

Seriously, stuff like this makes me CWAAZY!!!!

I would have printed a picture of that cig in the chair, with the hole AND the cig visible, written a note about what-all you said above.  Then, I would copy the picture, and  leave it in the little "mail" holder next to every cabin door with a balcony the could have possible thrown it.  If the ship was moving then, it really would have to be close by since it was still burning.  So, next both sides, and above.

I don't take this kind of (insert favorite derogatory word here) behavior very easily.

Someone where I live (in a brand new, really nice apartment building) was in the habit of leaving garbage NEAR the garbage shute, and making the rest of us push it down and/or clean it up.  After 9 months of this with management putting up signs, people complaining, and what-all, I finally found actual food garbage waiting for me one night.  I scooped it all up and threw it on the floor, then took a picture of it.  Sent it to management and said "you gotta DO something about this person!!!".

Problem solved, an official sign went up, maintenance checks that room frequently, and no more of the slob's garbage.......Desperate times require desperate measures.

I can't stand the butts flickers. I guess even smokers don't want their disgusting butts in their cars.

Guest services should print out a notification for every single cabin, addressing what happened, and strongly say besides a fine, passengers will be removed at next port, and banned from cruise line forever. And explain that the cigarette tossed, burned a hole in deck chair, so was lit when tossed. Yeah, some nicotine addicts won’t care, but maybe a couple will. Losers!

This afternoon I walked out on my balcony, turned around and saw the person above me standing at his railing smoking.  He immediately lowered the cigarette when he saw me but you could still see the smoke rising from it.

I’d bet money his brand matches the one found on my chair.

Isn’t there a crew smoking area below you on the corner aft?
Wondering if that’s where it came from.  You get some strange drafts on the rear of the ship.

A crew member smoking in a crew smoking area isn’t a problem.   There is little chance a crew member in a crew smoking area is tossing their lit cigarette overboard.
