SeattleAl Posted June 1, 2022 #1 Share Posted June 1, 2022 Hi folks. we're off to Alaska in August on Ovation and my daughter and (then) 18 month old will be with us. He takes an afternoon nap (sounds lovely), but tends to need a fairly dark room. I assume they're curtains in the balcony rooms, but how well do they block light? Thanks! Rare orville99 Posted June 1, 2022 #2 Share Posted June 1, 2022 They will definitely darken the room. Not pitch black, but significant reduction in the light.
sailor05 Posted June 1, 2022 #3 Share Posted June 1, 2022 I'm taking some clothes pins to make sure they stay tightly closed. We're leaving next week and don't want the 4am sunrises to be waking us up!
barbeyg Posted June 1, 2022 #4 Share Posted June 1, 2022 I don’t sleep well with light coming in the room, and the curtains did a great job for us.
deliver42 Posted June 1, 2022 #5 Share Posted June 1, 2022 The curtains work very well.

Aquahound Posted June 3, 2022 #8 Share Posted June 3, 2022 I've been on Ovation twice in the past year. The blackout curtains work great and there was no need to clip them together.
Rare cruiselvr04 Posted June 3, 2022 #9 Share Posted June 3, 2022 If I don’t take my towel clips I’ve been known to use a Royal provided hanger with clips sideways. Towel clips are nicer. I can’t sleep with light coming in either. I take a sleep mask too just in case there’s too much light that comes in at the sides.

I'd switch to an interior room..... Definitely no problems with light then!!!
therealblackknight Posted June 3, 2022 #11 Share Posted June 3, 2022 Was on last month and I thought they did real well, they do overlap so no real need to clip them together.
