Swapping cabins

Recommended Posts

Hi folks. We have a family trip coming up on Ovation and two of our party have connecting rooms, one with an 18 month old. They are thinking about swapping rooms because of the bed configuration (they think the child will sleep better by the balcony, where they will be less coming, going, and activity). Any problems is just doing this on our own? We understand that anything somehow charged to the room and not the Sea Pass would need to be settled up. Anything we should consider?  Thanks!!!

PS-We would try to do this officially, but with all  the problems with contacting RC and strange stories about problems moving cabins, that seems like more hassle than it's worth.

Can't speak for RCCL but have done similar things on other lines... it's fine.  They don't care who sleeps where but "capacity" and lifeboat considerations often mean you can't put 3 in a double room even if it's a baby.  Just sleep where you want.

If they are in connecting balconies on Ovation, the right cabin of the pair is the cabin that sleeps more than two and will have the sofabed by the balcony.

So sofabed is by the balcony, so no need to move cabins.  Are they planning on using the sofabed for the child or requesting a pack and play?  The sofabed has a trundle that pulls out that can be left at the lower level, so no need to worry about child falling out.

They are going to use a pack and play and this is the cabin they would be moving to. They have the cabin next door.

They were able to book three in a cabin for two?

No, we put the toddler in one cabin with his aunt, on paper. It saved almost a full fare. Plan has always been to have the child in with the parents to sleep at night. We have a third cabin for us grandparents that is adjacent and hopefully we can open up the doors on all three cabins balconies.

The OP booked the best for them based on two per cabin.....However just an FYI...you can book a two person for three if that third person is a baby under 2 (maybe 3) years old if that baby is going to be using a pack-n-play...Personal experience a few years ago when we had extended family sailing with us.

Thanks. We were surprised to find that an 18 month old cost almost as much as an adult and that a single person in a cabin cost almost as much as two. Putting them together became the obvious solution.

You'll have no problem making any switch you want to make. Go to Guest Services once you're on the ship and tell them who will be in which cabin. They will make you new Seapasses to correspond with your new room and on board expense account.

While the OP did not do this you can absolutely book a cabin for 2 and add a tro yo or under with a pack n play to the room.  Great way to get a cheaper room as founded are usually less than quads.  You can even take advantage of group rates through travel agents booking thus way.

Yes, I am aware of that.  I was just trying to help them understand the cabin configuration as the quads aren't always available for two.
