Deal Breaker

I've stayed in everything from the Garden Villa suite on NCL (look it up, it makes Carnival's best cabin look like a broom closet. Don't get me wrong, it was awesome)

My niece and nephew slept in the 3rd bedroom's closet, the room was so big.

Down to an inside cabin on the Fantasy class.

Balconies and suites are not a deal breaker for me.

I have rarely ever gotten my moneys worth from a balcony cabin.

I spend too little time in the cabin awake.

Prefer the darkness of an inside cabin and much cheaper price versus additional space in a suite versus how much more it costs.

Location would be one. (over/under the theater or galley or under the pool deck or buffett etc.)

Price is the primary deal breaker for me.

Itineraries and length don't matter much .

Any day on a cruise that I don't have to cook and clean up is good to me.

If I lived near a Florida port I would be happy taking 3 day weekend cruises all the time.

I'm happy with my upcoming 4 day cruise from home. (Charleston)

I don't use the balcony very much. Maybe like <2 minutes per day. My issue is that the A/C sometimes cannot keep up with the heat that radiates from the windows/door. Blinds help a little but but thereare times where the AC just can't keep up.

For me, I think a suite/the Haven is only really properly used when I am able to host little parties in my room. Otherwise all that space is just wasted.

I'm the same way but DW has got to have her balcony. She gets to deal with a grumpy me if I don't get enough sleep so she can only blame herself.

Yeah I get strong armed into higher grades of cabin too.

The only deal breaker for us is a 3/4 day cruise.  Did one once out of Miami on Labor day weekend and the people were inconsiderate and offensive.  We never did one again.

Most of our cruises have been in balcony rooms.  My husband enjoys sitting on the balcony and reading. I rarely use the balcony.

However, we have been in OV and Interior rooms as well.  If the cost of the cruise is significantly lower in an interior room, then I will book that as my husband has no problem sitting on deck and reading.

As a matter of fact I just booked the NYE cruise out of Miami on the Celebration.  The interior room was $100 pp with the deal I got (casino) and drinks everywhere on the ship.  To me it's worth it especially on a brand new ship that has so much to offer.

The cost of the balcony room for that cruise was over $1200 pp.

However, to each his own.

Happy Cruising!

I would never go in a nudist cruise for several reasons and I have been a nudist for about 6 decades now. I wouldn't go for a variety of reasons. For years people at our resort would ask us, knowing how much we love to cruise, why we never went on the annual nude cruise.

For one, they're easily three times more expensive.

Two, ussually take place on older ships when I prefer newer.

Three, It's a totally different atmosphere than our grounded club was. our grounded club was very family oriented. no swinging, no physical interaction other than hugs. children well protected. everyone in the club was well vetted when anyone can go on a nude cruise.

Four, and most important, there are no kids allowed, which is fine because I don't like my kids to be surrounded by strangers. But when we cruise we ussually bring a kid or a grandkid along [and soon, great-grandkids, we have 5 now]

So, despite being a nudist, no to a nude cruise.

I am fascinated by all the only-balcony cruisers.

At first I thought that I don’t have a deal breaker, but then I remembered how obnoxious I am about my cabin location.  I am a light sleeper, so if the only cabins left were under, above or next to noisy public spaces, that would be a definite deal breaker for me.

I could handle any type of cabin.  On my last cruise, we got a free inside cabin on the Mardi Gras. I did pay an additional $38 to have a cabin on the lido deck.  I had a lot of fun on that cruise and the inside cabin was fine.  I prefer a balcony, but an inside would not be a deal breaker.

Masks are a deal breaker.  We had to wear masks on my last cruise for the first half.  It was a pain to wear them.  We decided never again with mask requirements.  I can handle covid testing, but not masks.

Another deal breaker would be if they cancelled all of the comedy shows.  One of the reasons we like Carnival is because of the comedy shows.  We enjoy them a lot.

I will never cruise with them then, haha. I need English speakers.

The CD on one of our cruises announced that there were 43 different languages spoken by the ship's crew as their first language, but the official languages of Carnival Cruise Line is "Broken English"🤔

I need English speaking doctors. Broken English is acceptable. Haha.

But in all seriousness, let's say I am traveling with my friends and their parents. If their parents have a heart attack, I NEED to be able to communicate with the ship doctor about the EKG changes and may have to strongly "suggest" to the ship doctor to push life saving medication while onboard. This is a non-negotiable for me and it may save someone's life who is close to me.

As we say during a heart attack, "Time is heart". The faster we can treat patients with heart attacks, the higher likelihood that we can salvage heart tissue and increase survival.

1. If the food wasn’t free I wouldn’t cruise. Cruises are already expensive but add in the expense of food for a week and it just wouldn’t be worth it. All of the great food with so many types of food to choose from is something I look forward to. I enjoy trying out new stuff and eating things I normally wouldn’t eat.

2. If they went back to only having small ships I wouldn’t cruise. I love the bigger ships with the wider variety of things to do. We really enjoy the IMAX theater, the mini golf, the variety of specialty restaurants, the ropes course, the roller coaster, etc. I just couldn’t go back to the smaller ships, I’d be bored.

3. I wouldn’t cruise if they got rid of balcony and ocean view cabins. The inside cabins are too dark at night and I’ve almost killed myself trying to get to the bathroom. I can’t sleep with a night light on either. Plus after a few days I start to get claustrophobic. I just wouldn’t enjoy my cruise in one.

I'm one of the few who has only sailed in an interior room.

I have always sailed with a balcony up to a year ago.  Airfare from CT to FL has become inhibitive to affording balconies and OV.  We have become used to interiors and find ourselves hanging out on the decks much more!  I'd rather have an inside and be cruising than not cruising but dreaming of

a balcony!

There are many possible deal breakers for us. No food, no drink, no air conditioning and the like. But the thing that is actually approaching deal breaker for us is safety. We're in our late 60s with over 30 cruises. On our last couple of cruises for the first time we felt unsafe at times.

The problem is people who have no regard for rules and can not speak a sentence without the "F" word. Carrying around the modern equivalent of a boom box shoving their music down every one else's throat, smoking pot, coming up after you have been sitting for ten minutes and telling you that is their chair... In short, people who don't know how to behave in public, don't care about rules and rather than ask threaten.

We suspect the cheap cruises are the cause and hope that as prices go back up the problem will disappear, but we keep getting free cruise offers. We have a few cruises booked but are not booking any more until we see if the problem continues. If it does we will have to go with luxury lines just to feel safe. They can't pay us enough to take a cruise where we don't feel safe.

PLEASE explain to me how your safety was in danger with someone cussing, listening to loud music, smoking, and chair hogging? 🙄🙄🙄

This is literally just the average CCL/RCL/NCL pax.

My suggestion is for you to examine and critically think about the potential underlying reasons why you would think the person you described was SUCH a threat to your safety.

Agreed. I couldn't imagine passing up on all of the great experiences of a cruise because I didn't have a balcony. Pretty crazy. My cruise in January was heavily enforced by the mask police. While we still had fun, the mask mandate was worse than I anticipated. Comedy shows are a big deal for me. With them, it's a pretty big change for nightlife!

Masks are useless and are all theater. I agree

I didn't make the comment but can see how some might feel threatened by rude, loud, and ill-mannered behavior, or by drunken fools.   Particularly if they are in your face about something.

I don't agree this is the average passenger.  Sadly, it only takes a few to change the atmosphere for the worse.

I was going to say "a repeat of the poop cruise", losing power, would be dealbreakers but you can't know about those events ahead of time so there's no way to know if those cruises will be dealbreakers until the event actually happens.  So I'll go with any itinerary that sails through large iceberg fields... at night.
