RichYak Posted September 4, 2022 #1776 Share Posted September 4, 2022 I've dabbled with amateur photography at times. I enjoy it, and am ok at it, but I'll never have the eye for subjects that you do. Loving your photos!

At some point if you are comfortable, can you post who your personal retreat hosts have been along the way. We were on Summit July and Equinox May. Our room steward was Nelson who you mentioned. He was great to us. We loved Penelope as well, very nice!!!!! Thanks Jim. Currently the Personal Retreat Hosts are Tridip, Dimir and I will have to find the third. Currently only 3. Tridip was scheduled to go home a week ago but at last minute they extended him until 9/11. They are really short handed and Tridip has to handle decks 6,7,8 and 9. Dimir will still be here after Tridip leaves. He is very efficient but has the personality of a rock.

On our stop in Sydney (full day in port), our tour included a stop at a recreated Scottish village. All the buildings were original to early Scottish settlers, but many had been relocated to create this settlement. Our provided snack was delicious, fresh shortbread baked there that morning. They even gave me the recipe. I would have enjoyed Iain’s take on that stop! That would really be interesting. BTW I love shortbread. It's amazing, the recipe is so simple but the love of the person making it makes all the difference. My mother-in-law and aunt had this special touch and even though I have the recipe just never come out as good. You know how it is a baker usually has a little tweak without measurements that makes all the difference.

Sometimes small sometimes large - One was the picture of al those people on the side of the building. He said how did I miss that ... I just laughed and said open your eyes and smell the roses.

I tried to film the Musket firing using a selfie stick to see over the heads of those in front of me....but.... you got it --- I missed him totally. It was really loud and the smoke that came out was incredible. Was interesting that the actor took proper safety precautions and put on safety glasses and ear plugs. Oh well... I have a great movie of the ground. Edited September 4, 2022 by Jim_Iain 1

He was our host in the PS on Reflection this past March. Was very good at taking care of things for us, did anything we asked for and set up a nice in-suite gathering with plenty of food and drinks (a lot more drinks than we asked for!) but he was on the quiet side so I can see your comment about a rock. We did have a couple conversations with him where a dry sense of humor came through, but he was very much business and got things done. That said, I'd be happy to have him as a host anytime, glad to hear where he landed as he was just a few weeks from the end of his contract when we sailed with him. upwarduk Posted September 4, 2022 #1792 Share Posted September 4, 2022 Curious about the complementary Speciality dinner ‘ based on availability.’ I hope they didn’t tell you that all spaces were fully booked.😱
Rare garyl62 Posted September 4, 2022 #1793 Share Posted September 4, 2022 Congratulations Jim & Iain! Since you shared both your total cruises and CC points, I'm wondering if they award the Top Cruiser based on cruises or Captain's club points? With only 50 Cruises and 4,934 points it was a real surprise Congratulations! We were surprised by having the honor on our last cruise on Eclipse. We were stunned, as we hadn't been top cruisers since years and years ago pre-Royal Caribbean days, even though we have sailed 65 (or is it 66?) times. I admit I am a bit jealous - we got the nice flowers and a bottle of wine but no specialty dinner. As much as I love Celebrity, one of my pet peeves is their consistent inconsistency with things like this. They should have corporate-wide policies for how to handle these things. But enough of my moaning and groaning - we had lovely flowers and nice wine and we enjoyed every minute of it.
