chrysalis Posted August 22, 2022 #2 Share Posted August 22, 2022 never thought it would be a problem or an issue.....but if it is, order a drink and let the server find you.

janroatan Posted August 22, 2022 Author #5 Share Posted August 22, 2022 (edited) I guess i,m the only one that thinks each and every one looks the same, can you use your Medallion app to order drink to your location on the Cay? 🤦♀️ Edited August 22, 2022 by janroatan

PRINCESS Sweet Pea Posted August 22, 2022 #7 Share Posted August 22, 2022 If there are a whole lot of clamshells, then I can see what you mean. Once you get accustomed, of course, you know your location. And, of course, your 'stuff' will be there. At first, maybe lay a bright colored towel or hand-towel across the top entry?
MissP22 Posted August 24, 2022 #8 Share Posted August 24, 2022 Maybe you could decorate it like people do for their cabin door?
skynight Posted August 24, 2022 #9 Share Posted August 24, 2022 Count, third from the left? Throw a towel on top? Walk around the front and you will see your stuff. Don't see this as a big issue.
phabric Posted August 24, 2022 #10 Share Posted August 24, 2022 (edited) Many years ago, we had one. The beach attendant took our excursion voucher and asked which clam shell we wanted. We found it hot in it as the air is trapped in the clam shell, no breeze. Put your items on the lounger, easy to find again. If ordering a drink from wandering bar attendants, they seem to remember where you are. Any time we went back to the island, we went early and found loungers in the shade. Then, you realize that it's just like an oven with no breeze. We did find a spot under a cabana that was just perfect ... and free of charge, too. There was plenty of shade plus a nice breeze .. very close to the band and the bar. Much better choice!

There use to be much more shade about 4 or 5 years ago until they removed lots of the natural shade. Maybe to was done on purpose trying to increase sales of the clamshells??
Buckeye10640 Posted August 25, 2022 #17 Share Posted August 25, 2022 I actually recommend not paying for a clamshell. They get really hot. Go early and find a lounger in the shade.

We were able to find loungers under shade palm tress last time we were there. We had a very nice day! I am wanting to rend a Bungalow if we get back there. Not just to be inside the bungalow, but to have that space to ourselves, the beach umbrella, a dining table for lunch, that kind of thing! I have always heard about the clamshells being hot. I am thinking that that material must not really have a strong sun blocking factor. Now, that could create heat.
AZ Ocean Lover Posted August 25, 2022 #19 Share Posted August 25, 2022 Yes, they are hot but the canopy can be adjusted so you can get a breeze coming through the bottom. We did it once and that was enough.
geocruiser Posted August 25, 2022 #20 Share Posted August 25, 2022 Would beach chair clips work. https://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/store/product/clown-fish-boca-clips-set-of-2/1045752032?skuId=45752032&store=&enginename=google&mcid=PS_googlepla_nonbrand_sscoutdoor_online&product_id=45752032&adtype=&product_channel=online&adpos=&creative=545768559586&device=c&matchtype=&network=u&gclid=CjwKCAjwu5yYBhAjEiwAKXk_eM1odfIezYtPWtNLm36MXaMLutv_JZVJR27bLSIw6vmKWR9xNXnfrRoCjDAQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
Wishing on a star Posted August 25, 2022 #21 Share Posted August 25, 2022 The idea is not to use clips, but to prop something under the back so that it doesn't fall back and hit the sand. There are probably photos online or videos on youtube.
EDDY0827 Posted August 25, 2022 #22 Share Posted August 25, 2022 I think that the bright orange clips were meant to stand out when applied to the top of the clam-shell, not ventilation.

I seriously doubt is there are to many fires on the beach and any hurricane damage to the palm trees & bushes could be cleaned up in a few hours. It all boils down to trimming as much natural shade as feasible so they can sell those unbearably hot clamshell lounges for $40. That's why we always arrive as early as possible for a shady spot under a tree.

Wishing on a star Posted August 25, 2022 #25 Share Posted August 25, 2022 Ohhhh. Duhhhhh! I guess I was thinking about the ventilation, and maybe the thought was to use the clips to hold part of it up. Hahaha! (Those are cute Nemo fish clips.)
