Yes it was refundable credit... 2 ports were cancelled... we had excusions booked that were cancelled (refundable) and port charges for the cancelled ports (refundable) I verified with passenger services that the credit was indeed refundable. I asked if it could be held as an FCC...they said no... I would have used the "magic method" had I known about it... I only recently learned of it. While I agree with Don about customer service should be equal for all... in an ideal world that would be true. But loyalty plans frequently have special numbers... and priority service for their best customers. We have lost our way on this post, however... my purpose was to warn newbies to CC (though I don't post much...I've been on CC for many years) a warning not to let Princess hold their money so as not to have my experience be repeated to them. I feel I have done that.... and I won't make that mistake again. Again thanks for the kind words. Joe and Tammi However in this case enhanced call in service, or accelerated refund schedule is not one of the listed benefits for Princess elite. If they had not offered priority boarding or if they had not provided the elite line for onboard customer service then commenting about elite status would be relevant, but in this situation nope. It is interesting there is a priority line at PSD on the ships, but not a priority phone line (such as the airlines have for top-tier FF's). Sure, I use the Elite & Suite line at PSD, but never presume I am the next one to be called as they have to serve the other line as well.

As I understand it, they will only give you cash if the balance is $25 or less. More than $25 means having to wait foir the check in the mail.
figment_nh Posted August 27, 2022 #63 Share Posted August 27, 2022 Just as an FYI - when we got our refund it came from Bottomline Technologies and refrenced Princess Cruise Line - I almost threw it out as junk mail

Couldn’t someone also go to the casino & ask for cash to be charged to their account, then just keep the cash instead of gambling it?
kywildcatfanone Posted August 27, 2022 #65 Share Posted August 27, 2022 If you have both types of OBC, can you tell them when making a purchase to use the non refundable first?

They always do that automatically. Always put the charges to the non-refundable first then when those dollars are expended it automatically switches over to the refundable. 1

I would ask to talk to the hotel manager on board, first. After all this is your money, I would go up the chain of command.
Daniel A Posted August 27, 2022 #69 Share Posted August 27, 2022 Many businesses refund back to the original source of funds. Otherwise, somebody could put $5,000.00 on their onboard account through a credit card, not spend it and demand $5000 cash on the last night of the cruise. Many credit cards charge interest starting from the date a cash advance is taken out, whereas refunded cash from the cruise line wouldn't start accruing interest until end of the billing cycle. Another scenario would be where I used my credit card to cover my young relative's account and they end up asking for the refund to go into their pocket as cash on the last night of the cruise. This doesn't explain why it's taking them so long to either issue a refund check or refund to the original source of payment though.

At least pre-pandemic, the accounting system worked as follows for pre-paid shore excursions. o When you reserved the excursions pre-cruise you used available OBC and/or a credit card to pay for the excursions. o When the cruise started, the accounting system in effect removed all payments from the excursions (with the payments becoming refundable or non-refundable OBC depending on the original source) and then paid for them again using available non-refundable OBC first. o So if there was enough non-refundable OBC to pay for the excursions, then what had been paid with a credit card or refundable OBC pre-cruise will now be refundable OBC.

The purpose of charging stateroom account is to obtain playing chips for the tables, or cash in the one-armed bandits, or for the poker table. You need to play and then cash out your balance no later than final night of the voyage.
