And yes to your previous reply - first time I haven't minded being woken through the night by my little one. Poor little one has an ear and chest infection so pretty miserable, but a Disney cruise is cheering me up at least 🙂 I haven't heard from my friend, which is a big worry as we are in regular contact via email.. However I read 2 million people have lost power. I'm now trying to find contact details of family in Boston. I have read that water is being sucked out in Florida, which happens in bad cyclones. But can I also add, why do folk book a balcony when they can have the same cruise in an inside cabin. it is for the experience. i did the Panama cruise on the Wonder a few years back, no kids. You can bet your bottom dollar i was going to book one of these Aussie cruises. NYE 6 nights cheapest cabin $6000. Will forgo something else. I've given up hope 😞 It's ok though I only got the go ahead to book it yesterday from the Specialist, so it's really only one day of dashed hopes not weeks. Count this one as practice. In the meantime, if you like long haul flights, have a look at WDW, Florida. Disneyland is only one of their Kingdoms it has four theme parks - EPCOT, ANIMAL KINGDOM, HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS, MAGIC KINGDOM PLUS BLIZZARD BEACH AND TYPHOON LAGOON WATER PARKS, plus Disney Theme shops galore. WDW Theme Parks closed for 2 days due to Hurricane Ian.

Unfortunately my health took a hit this year and international travel is off the cards, hopefully not forever, but a short Disney cruise close to home 12 months or so away was an ok risk esp when I could refund should spanners get thrown in the works. Travel insurance is now a nightmare.

I should be grateful UK is still an option.

Apparently some bookings got done very early in the morning before everything went out. Enormous amount of damage over there.
Rare Sparky74 Posted September 30, 2022 #113 Share Posted September 30, 2022 I’ve been (mostly) offline for some weeks as we’ve been cruising. I’ve not read this whole thread; hopefully my post is not off topic. I’ve just looked at the prices for a Disney cruise. OUCH! 😱 DW says we could fly to Disneyland for that price.

kaseyoz Posted October 1, 2022 #116 Share Posted October 1, 2022 This mug paid it happily. yes son in law priced 14 day Disney panama cruise from USA including flights, cheaper pp per day than I paid for my NYE 6 night cruise from Sydney. Always options. 1

Christmas yes, to varying degrees. Halloween, not so much on the ships based here full time. We will be on Majestic Princess for Halloween, and don't know yet if there will be theme night for it and how immersive it will be.
Aus Traveller Posted October 2, 2022 #121 Share Posted October 2, 2022 12 hours ago, nehaahen said: does anyone know if the aussie cruises have halloween and Christmas theaming like they do in the US? I have seen Halloween decorations on Australian-based ships. They have had the traditional pumpkins in a display in the atrium, draped nets with spiders etc on them and the waiters dressed up a bit, but not outlandishly. I have only been on Princess for Christmas. By the end of the cruise I had heard enough Christmas songs to last me for several years. Decorations were installed early in December and there was even a little decoration placed outside every cabin door. Close to Christmas, a choir sang in the evenings in the atrium and for an hour or two, a couple of times a day, a machine sent fake snow falling into the atrium. It was lovely, particularly when the choir was singing under the falling 'snow'.
nehaahen Posted October 2, 2022 #122 Share Posted October 2, 2022 Thanks guys. I was only able to book a spot on the Disney cruise leaving Sydney on Christmas eve for 4 nights, it was more expensive than the other options but every thing else was sold out already..so i'm really hoping they will do something special for Christmas!
