rsteenblik Posted September 14, 2022 #1 Share Posted September 14, 2022 We are scheduled for the Wonder of the Seas cruise on May 28, 2023. The ticket prices for the Thrill Waterpark at CocoCay are $161 per person if we pre-book now. That seems super expensive to me and quite a bit more than what I have seen for other cruise dates. Am I mistaken? Do prices fall? If not, I hope my kids will like the beach!
vjmatty Posted September 14, 2022 #2 Share Posted September 14, 2022 Prices for everything on Coco Cay have doubled and sometimes tripled over the past year.... October 2021 we paid $70 for the water park.
Rare Itchy&Scratchy Posted September 14, 2022 #3 Share Posted September 14, 2022 $161 is ridiculously high and not worth it. I am sure Wonder has waterslides on it, and there is plenty to do for free on Cococay. My kid loves the beach.
Rare MandyMooToo Posted September 14, 2022 #4 Share Posted September 14, 2022 $83.99 on Mariner right now. Is it possible you were seeing the prices for the CocoCay Beach Club instead?

MightyMike Posted September 14, 2022 #7 Share Posted September 14, 2022 It is especially crazy considering how long the lines are for the best slides.
vjmatty Posted September 14, 2022 #8 Share Posted September 14, 2022 I am very sorry because I know it isn't funny for the people on this particular sailing, but those prices do literally make me laugh out loud.... at RCL of course.
Jerseygirl1416 Posted September 14, 2022 #9 Share Posted September 14, 2022 We leave this Sunday on Oasis so maybe wait it out and watch for it to come down? Although being a new ship they might be charging a premium for everything?
robmtx Posted September 14, 2022 #10 Share Posted September 14, 2022 (edited) Don't forget to add Bahamian tax on top of that platter! your $161 is really $177.10 each. 😞 Are the Waterpark cabanas for up to 4, 6, or 8 people? Cutigerlady Posted September 14, 2022 #12 Share Posted September 14, 2022 I'm glad my kids are over going to the water park! The water park cabana is for up to 6 people. If you are going during the cooler months, the water inside the park is freezing.
vjmatty Posted September 14, 2022 #13 Share Posted September 14, 2022 Just now, taglovestocruise said: $3500 for a over the water cabana, I think Royal is doing all the laughing. Not all of it, I still laugh....especially since most of the cabanas were empty the last time I was there. And then there is the consideration that the more people spend on things like over-priced cabanas, the less disposable cash they have to spend on additional cruises, which are bigger revenue generators with all of the onboard spending than a single-pay cabana which creates zero additional spending.
poocher Posted September 14, 2022 #14 Share Posted September 14, 2022 I feel so foolish wondering if $24.99 was a good price back in Feb. 2020! 2

But with 2 ships in port, my husband insisted for us to book it. Hopefully, due to the prices, we'll end up in a private club... The over the water cabana at 3500 is just ridiculous!!! The over the water cabana at 3500 is just ridiculous!!! I’d keep monitoring prices especially the Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales. You can always cancel and rebook. The lowest our Beach Club went was $159 and as high as $209. Even with 2 ships there as long as you go out onto the island by 11am there will be plenty of chairs. It’s the people that wait until lunchtime or later that end up having trouble finding loungers together.

Ridiculous. That is over double the cost of most any water park in Fl, including Typhoon Lagoon at Disney. As long as people continue to pay these exorbitant prices, you cant fault RC for taking advantage of it though.
Toddcan Posted September 14, 2022 #19 Share Posted September 14, 2022 (edited) correct me if I am wrong, but Royal uses dynamic pricing for these things. At first, costs are low, but as the supply dries up, prices are driven up automatically. There are exceptions like special sales, etc. So... a few people would have paid close to this price to drive it up so high. cynt Posted September 14, 2022 #20 Share Posted September 14, 2022 I would wait until Black Friday. We got an awesome deal last BF.
Husky1987 Posted September 14, 2022 #21 Share Posted September 14, 2022 Call it "ridiculous". Call it "not worth it". Supply and demand. Fact is, as long as it's worth it to people other than you, they'll charge whatever they can get.
silverspyder1996 Posted September 14, 2022 #22 Share Posted September 14, 2022 That price is nuts. Here I thought the price offered on my Oasis cruise in a couple weeks was too high.

nasa1974 Posted September 14, 2022 #24 Share Posted September 14, 2022 This is going to be my first time on Royal Caribbean, and I think all of their extras are overpriced. Except maybe their soda package. Not a fan of their website either, but maybe I have to get used to it.
Rare brillohead Posted September 14, 2022 #25 Share Posted September 14, 2022 The OP's cruise is over Memorial Day week... EVERYTHING is priced higher on holiday sailings. As for the people who think Royal is crazy for charging these prices... PEOPLE ARE PAYING THESE PRICES -- those are the people who I think are crazy! Why wouldn't Royal charge whatever the market will bear -- they're not a charity, they're a for-profit corporation. If they can get an extra $100K per day of pure profit by charging exorbitant amounts for cabanas and beach club admissions and beach beds and waterpark admissions, why not? 4 2
