Nessa1dc Posted September 23, 2022 #1 Share Posted September 23, 2022 Hello Everyone, My crew will be sailing on the Enchantment on Feb. 3, 2023. We are excited. We sailed the Oasis in August. We are looking forward to a smaller ship. I have a few questions, and would appreciate any answers. 1. Is a Junior Suite considered as a "Suite" class? Like for check-in, Concierge? We are also Diamond Plus Members 2. We are sailing out of Baltimore. Is the Casino closed the 1st day and the last "at Sea Day" on the cruise? 3. Anything we should know...please share. We have been on the Grandeur a few times...so is it similar?

Yes, it is similar with an additional 75 foot that was added to the center of ship when they cut her in half. That means extra cabins were installed, but not extra seating in venues. Since you have been on the Grandeur, you know how great the crew is. They are the same on the Enchantment. We will also be on her in Feb. Maybe we will see you onboard.
Rare moposh Posted September 23, 2022 #3 Share Posted September 23, 2022 Sailed on Enchantment in August. Not sure about the casino on the first day, but they do have to get out to certain distance before it can open. I tried to stay away from the casino when possible because I don't like the smoking.

But since you are D+, you may be able to use the Concierge Lounge and Concierge, if space allows. 2. Casino and shops are closed while in the Chesapeake Bay. 3. Enchantment was Grandeur's twin at birth, but Enchantment has a stretched mid-section. EN has Boleros, two outdoor pools, no Izumi, no Giovanni's.

I think Baltimore sailings have to be out of the Chesapeake Bay in order for the casino or shops to be open. ETA: Just checked my Cruise Compasses from March. Casino was closed on Day 1, closed at 7:00 PM on Day 8 (last day). Edited September 23, 2022 by Another_Critic

However, Enchantment has the best Chef's Table. They do an amazing job.

Might be more than 2 hours since the ship has to sail down and out of the Chesapeake Bay. Casino might not be open until day 2 because of this.

We have done the cruise out of Baltimore multiple times, and I believe it takes about 9-10 hours to get out of the bay. might be shorter, not really sure, just know when we go to bed casino is not open.

Concierge Lounge - maybe, depending on how many D+ are on board. Of course, you can always use the Diamond Lounge. 2. Casino does not open until Day 2, and closes at 7 PM. on the final night. And all of the shops close then on the last night, too. Very annoying. Includes the photo gallery. Get those free pictures earlier! 3. Chops is the only specialty restaurant. Truly bizarre, in my estimation, since the SMALLER Vision class ships have three. Because Enchantment was stretched, she carries more passengers, but the Windjammer and theater were NOT enlarged. Both can get crowded. 4. Did you get the email about our changed itinerary? They are skipping Charleston. I am NOT happy. That's the only port I care about on this itinerary. Been to the others a LOT of times. 😞

Royal opted not to pay the fee to MD to have casino open while in their local waters. They have to wait until they are out to sea.

From Baltimore to the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay it takes about 7 to 10 hours. From Baltimore to the Chesapeake Bay Bridge is 3 hours alone...then the rest of the time is from the Chesapeake Bay Bridge to the Chesapeake Bay Bridge/Tunnel.
deliver42 Posted September 24, 2022 #15 Share Posted September 24, 2022 If you'd like to see a review of the Enchantment by someone who has exclusively sailed the E Class on Celebrity, and was completely fooled and loved the ship, look on You Tube for Zack the Traveling Man. I've seen other of his reviews and he tells it what he likes and dislikes, given the food, entertainment, the crew, and the ship itself.
homedepot124 Posted September 24, 2022 #16 Share Posted September 24, 2022 We did the 8 day cruise to Bermuda and Bahamas on Enchantment earlier this summer. The ship is pretty rough in some places. Lots of visible rust. Some of the public restrooms are also in need to some serious TLC. Our MDR waiter disappeared after two days due to medical issues and as a result the service was sub par for several days while our assistant waiter learned on the job to be a waiter. Sadly the head waiter wasn't much help while the assistant was struggling. On the other hand, the food was good and the nightly music in the atrium was very enjoyable.

Rare vadersprincess12 Posted September 25, 2022 #18 Share Posted September 25, 2022 This must be specific to Royal because we have sailed Carnival out of Baltimore (most recently in August) and the casino opens once we pass the Key Bridge which is only about 45 minutes from sail away. Carnival must be paying the state to be able to do that. I know in 2018 they (Carnival) did not open the casino until day 2 once we were out of the bay and into international waters.

Yes, it is specific to Royal as they will not pay the fee to State of MD to have a temporary license for each cruise. Carnival pays the fee, therefore, they are allowed to operate their casino prior to reaching international waters. I believe Carnival is allowed to open their casino once they pass under the bridge.
