Can the ‘swap’ be arranged in advance these days or we still need to tell our cabin steward when we see him?

Having been on a Celebrity Cruise, and seeing some of the features on their website and app with regard to pre prdering and such, Princess needs to catch up on some things.

I really hate to burden my busy steward with more on the first day, and the phone at room service will be busy all day.  I wait until the next day to do an exchange.  Works better for me.

I’ve never had a problem getting through the first day.  Maybe because we get on early?  The coffee switch sometimes doesn’t show up until the next day on your account, so I guess it depends if you intend to use it right away.

I order water ahead of time (12 bottles for $7, it'll be in the room) & call room service upon boarding to trade minibar for coffees. Just watch the account for a few days and get charges, if any, removed by calling PSD. No need to stand in line & faster than texting

All my upcoming princess cruises have princess plus.  So I'm at a loss as to what to do with my minibar set ups.

Maybe I'll find someone who doesn't have the package and throw mini-bottles at them until they're tired of catching?

Seems many of us are in the same boat!  We're both Elite, and our TA booked us with the beverage package, so the minibar set up is relatively uselss. We are considering  splitting the contents with my sister who is  Platinum, in a different cabin,  and take the nips home post cruise. Let's see - one nip attached to the mail carrier's Christmas card, same for our trash hauler, landscaper, house sitter, etc.

With all the inclusive beverage/dining options, and growing repeat passengers, Princess needs to review the perks/benefits/incentives.

If you are a soda drinker you can get your fill of canned soda with the mini bar. You can exchange the mini bar for a bottle of wine. Bottled wine has a cost in the beverage package.

Exactly what we did on the Enchanted last month. Our room steward was nearby so we asked him to swap out the little bottles, (useless for us with the Premier Package) to diet sodas. A few hours later, he'd set everything up.

Want to hear an even worse dilemma?  Hubs and my upcoming cruise, not only do we have princess plus and 2 minibars (suite gets an extra one), we also have $660 onboard credit.  It's a 10 day cruise, no way we can specialty dine every night, or they'd have to take me off the ship in a wheelbarrow.

Then I have a B2B in April, insides for these.  So again, 2 minibars and $750 in onboard for 12 days.

The casino trick will be utilized.

Not soda drinkers.  I truly think throwing mini-bottles at other pax is going to happen.  Kind of like hiding ducks.  Hey, I could band a mini-bottle to some ducks!  Now there's an idea!

Nice dilemma to be in! 😆

There’s chef’s table, winemaker’s dinner if your ship has it.  Excursions, spa etc.

I like the duck banding. Lol

Yeah, hubs and I are immediately signing up for chefs table and thinking about doing ultimate ships tour on the Royal since we've only done it on the grand class.  Those 2 will suck $500 out of that onboard.

Even with that free onboard credit, I still can't bring myself to pay those prices for the spa.  I have a couple places in Mexico that I utilize for massage and nails.

If I have to walk off the ship with every pair of feetie pajamas on the ship, I WILL use every penny!

Can you help me with this one...you noted that a full suite gets two mini bar set-ups.  That's what I thought too but so far can't find where it says that on the 'full suite benefits' pdf. Where does it say two set-ups?

Thanks!

One minibar is for the suite, the other is for being elite.

Hmm.  So if you have the drink package which includes the specialty coffees, you can exchange your mini bar for canned soft drinks?  I didn't realize that?  Do you know what canned option they offer?

Our Minibar setup came from our newly-acquired elite status and not from us having the drink package, so yes, we were easily able to swap it out for soft drinks. We never had a minibar setup as platinum et al, so there was nothing to swap out back then. The options for cans is pretty much what the ship normally has in the bars and restaurants. We ended up with a mix of Diet Sprite for her and regular Coke for me. Other can jump in with their experience with other soda brands.
