Rare shof515 Posted October 30, 2022 #1 Share Posted October 30, 2022 Bermuda released the 2023 cruise ship scheduled located here: http://www.marops.bm/Documents/Shipping_schedules/2023%20Cruise%20Ship%20Schedule.pdf . In the schedule it has information that carnival has not released to the public yet.. These changes effect the new Carnival Venezia and the Carnival Magic Carnival Venezia: 3 Bermuda sailing out of NYC. Port days is June 17, July 15 and August 12. These 3 sailings match perfectly the current existing Carnival Magic sailings with a sail date of June 15, July 13 and August 10. If any one is booked on these 3 sailings like me, expect a ship change notification Carnival Magic: 4 Bermuda sailing out of Norfolk. Port days is August 29-31, September 12-14, September 26-28 and October 7 The Magic current cruises out of NYC for end of August and September is canceled. If anyone is sailing during these two months, you will most likely be shifted to the Venezia. The October 7 port day matches the current the October 5 sailing from Norfolk With this information this my best guess on what is going to happen: Venezia will be replacing ALL of Magic sailings out of NYC. If anyone is booked for these cruises next year, it is going to be interesting on how carnival handles shifting everyone to the Venezia and if they will be any other itinerary changes. I would love more 9-10 day cruises out of NYC going to Antigua and Tortola like what they did before. Magic will be doing more cruises out of Norfolk during the summer
Rare Jamman54 Posted October 30, 2022 #2 Share Posted October 30, 2022 We have a B2B booked on the Magic out of NYC next September to the Eastern Caribbean and Canada. I was hoping that Carnival was going to have both the Magic and Venezia sailing from NYC next summer, but with this information it doesn't look likely. Not sure about how we will feel if we are switched to the Venezia. I guess time will tell. 😎
LouChamp Posted October 30, 2022 #3 Share Posted October 30, 2022 Unfortunately the shorter the cruise the more drinking and party crowds. I am up for a fun time but am concerned about the shorter cruises. Just my opinion. Have sailed both Carnival and Costa even Costa back in the day. jsglow Posted October 30, 2022 #4 Share Posted October 30, 2022 I'm not surprised one bit that Carnival is deciding not to port two ships in NYC. It MAY be that Carnival will be 'test driving' Norfolk to see how that port demand is possibly in preparation for Sunshine down the road.
toad455 Posted October 30, 2022 #5 Share Posted October 30, 2022 So the Magic will be in Norfolk all of summer 2023?

But they’re selling it as Costa by Carnival which is supposed to be a different experience. I don’t think they should switch people who booked carnival to costa by carnival. I think those should be separate sailings. Edited October 30, 2022 by Saint Greg
Rare SRQbeachgirl Posted October 30, 2022 #7 Share Posted October 30, 2022 I was hoping to catch a summer 2023 sailing on Magic, but guess that won't happen now. There's no way I'm going to Norfolk when I have four ports within a 3.5 hour driving distance. Good news for my Virginia friends though, as they're getting a great ship.
sra12574 Posted October 30, 2022 #8 Share Posted October 30, 2022 The Costa ship is a Vista class ship but im assuming they wont be putting typical Carnival venues like Guys, Blue Iguana , and Red Frog . Hopefully what it does offer gives people a nice change of pace though . Does anyone know if bookings on the 2 costa ships other then the Luminosa will count as days sailed on Carnival for Vip status.?

Carnival has been consistent with that message the entire time. These sailings are being sold by Carnival, not by Costa.

It is on the same platform except that they added about 60' to the stern to support the Havana area on Deck 5. That Havana area is the only reason for us to book that class of ship. The Venezia doesn't have a Havana area, so that's our quandry. We had the same bowling alley balcony for our B2B on the Magic, so if they assign us to the bowling alley balconies on the Venezia, we still may go. Got to think about it. 😎

Tbh it looks more like the Venetian Las Vegas casino and hotel than anything Carnival designs.

CruiseAdict218 Posted October 30, 2022 #13 Share Posted October 30, 2022 Well if Venezia starts to pop up in any Bahamas/Caribbean ports prior to the first Bermuda cruise, we’ll know if she replaces Magic. Magic could just do a small NYC season and head to Norfolk earlier. However, I do agree with the comments that the two should have been kept separate but I don’t think a Dream & Vista Class in NYC would do well either. Not sure if this is what you are speaking of but would love to know what other ships have them!! Thanks!! In the middle of may to the middle of June, the Magic does cruises from Norfolk. After a month of Norfolk cruises she heads to New York for the summer then returns to Norfolk at the end of September all of the news articles i can find about the Venezia says the ship will beginning sailing out of NYC sometime in the spring most likely in April/May It seem logical for the Magic to remain in Norfolk for the summer and do not return back to NYC i think having 2 ships out of NYC can work well but they needs to be better itinerary sailing out of here instead of the same itinerary they do every year. Have one ship do the traditional itinerary and another ship with more unique itineraries. The two that come my mind is the Vista NY inaugural cruise that went to San Juan, St Thomas, Antigua and St Maarten and then a few years ago the Sunrise did this itinerary: San Juan, Tortola, St Thomas, St Maarten

Doesn’t help Bermuda is limited either. But I think she may come a little earlier, she exits Costa service on December 1, and then will head to dry dock sometime after, the other question will be do you think she comes over empty or will they sell a T/A? nanamobo Posted October 31, 2022 #18 Share Posted October 31, 2022 I just booked 4 cabins for our family on the Carnival Magic for July 13-17 2023. I would think if the Carnival Magic was being replaced by another ship I hope the manager I spoke with today would tell me. Is Costa owned by Carnival? Maureen Carnival does these things…and they tell us when they’re ready. I booked Freedom to Alaska. They changed me to Splendor. That sailing didn’t have any 4J cabins available that weren’t accessible so they assigned me a spa interior. I ended up moving my cruise up a week to get the room type I originally booked. So it wouldn’t surprise me if they change ships. The fact that it’s such a radical change…To a different brand is what would surprise me.
