Are Edge cabins different?

We have cruised on the Summitt and Equinox before and are looking to book a cruise on the Edge,  The veranda cabins look different and I hear that many have obstructed views.  Are the veranda cabins very different from the Equinox and should we look for the higher priced ones?  Also, are there other differences we should know?

Thanks

You need to do a little research to decide.  Go to Celebrity’s website, select a E class ship and look at the photos and descriptions of the various categories.  Then for the ones you think you are interested in go to YouTube and search for videos.  There are a lot of videos of the various cabin categories available on YouTube which are from passengers not cruise marketing material.
We love the E class but it is different than the Equinox and Summit.  Starting with 4 MDRs vs 1.  Different specialties, some different venues; no Sky Lounge now Eden, no Cellar Masters now Casino bar or Craft Social, a different venue The Club. Some like it some don’t just check it out and see if you think it works for you.

The issue isn't obstructed views. The issue is what is called IV cabins aren't real verandas but an oceanview window that opens with furniture to simulate a balcony, but in reality you're inside your room not outside. It all depends on how you plan use a balcony cabin. If all you want is to get fresh air and enjoy the views, then the IV cabin can work for you. But if you enjoy laying out on a balcony for hours then those cabins won't work for you since you're INSIDE, not outside. You have alot to research so don't be afraid to ask lots of questions.

I would reconsider going to Celebrity's website as they will try to convince you that a IV is something better than a true balcony.  LOL ^4.

Perhaps you can compare differences,  but all of their marketing is skewed towards the E-class, which is a lesser ship IMHO.

Or, go with the IV, which many find deficient. Then, once back from the cruise, return to thise site and you (with high probability) will have a cornucopia of complaints to lodge against said IV design.

If nothing else, you'll have more street cred on this site with what will undoubtedly be legit gripes.

A total Lose-Win! 🦖

The (infinite) veranda cabins look very different because they don’t have verandas.😁. They have a window that can open.

There are also many YouTube videos discussing the pros and cons of IV cabins.
One thing that I wasn't aware of initially is that the 'balcony' window can be locked by the bridge, effectively giving you an Oceanview cabin for the price of a traditional balcony 😞

If you want a true balcony cabin on the edge class ships, you should book an aft balcony cabin.  As said above the infinite balcony cabins are really windowed cabins that open unless locked.  We really were disappointed in the narrow cabin.  The sky suites and above have true balconies.

FWIW, not everyone hates the IVs.

And the captain does not randomly lock them like people want you to believe. They are only locked in 2 situations - for cleaning, which is announced in the daily informational paper and is usually when in port; or during bad weather when normal people wouldn't be using their balconies anyway.

The cabins that have real balconies are the "sunset verandas" at the back of the ship.  There are various categories of sunset verandas with varying pricing and these cabins tend to sell very quickly.  The other option, as many have indicated, are to get a suite as they have normal outdoor verandas.

The infinite verandas that make up a greater majority of the cabins are definitely different from Summit and Equinox.  I believe that calling them "verandas" has created a lot of confusion.  For those who are used to cruising with a traditional veranda, the switch to the infinite's on the Edge class just aren't the same.
