Hope you're OK looking at a RARE burger !! I've never been a fan of bacon on a burger, but this moist/fatty pork belly ain't no bacon !!! And now you expect me to have to wait until January 22nd to get my hands around one of these beauties??? 🤤 I'm already enjoying this cruise and we haven't even boarded yet! Yes, I know all the laws and issues about traveling with it and all that. THAT SAID....If anyone is sitting anywhere onboard smoking green bud, they're stupid and you should call security just as you should for a cigarette or cigar smoker, it is a fire hazard issue (ashes flying overboard) I prefer vaping. It is pure weed THC oil, not wonky stuff like they do with the flavored cigarette stuff. It's just weed oil, nothing more. Many of them have little to no scent, some even smell fruity. It is due to the strain type, not additives. If you vape, you do not have to do the choo-choo train smoke thing, that's stupid. I can sit next to someone, take a hit and gently release it and no one ever knows. A fart smells worse and no one knows who did that. Edibles hit different, it's just not the same. How would like to buy a drink, consume your drink but you won't feel anything from your drink in maybe 30 minutes or maybe 2 hours, never know. How'd you enjoy that, and it's not even the same buzz. I do not drink. Don't care for it, doesn't agree with me. I am also ADD/ADHD, which like most our age, wasn't figured out until I was, well, about this age. I have struggled for years with some things, not a psycho, I swear, it has allowed me to slow down and be more calm, less reactive. Rather I dope up on pills like valium? After a while, you really don't get a buzz. You don't get high, I just kind of feel normal thanks to weed. I'm not lying, it saved my life. So while it's illegal, there are ways to be low profile. There are folks, like myself, where it has changed my life. Not everyone is abusing it, like alcohol. I WOULD NEVER ADVOCATE ILLEGAL USE OR TRANSPORTATION OF ANY DRUGS I get you. My law enforcement parents provided me with "leaded" brownies when I was 9, going through chemo for infantile leukemia. I lived, the others in my pod didn't. Hubs choses not to partake, but doesn't have a sway in my choices. I've advocated for legalization, especially for medical, starting with grass roots, then to local government and even spoke at the state and national level. I like a good buzz. Nicotine, alcohol, caffeine and THC and sometimes a combo of them all. I'm an adult and get to make my own choices. Our demographic is late 50's, solidly middle class, with an abundance of disposable income. I only cruise carnival because they give me free cruises, over and over, free cruises. I cruise other lines because I prefer them. It will be legal federally. It's only a matter of time. Edited December 9, 2022 by justafem

If someone pays a premium for a balcony and discreetly takes a few puffs how are any of you gonna know who to tell on. Most people aren't gonna stand against the rail and expose themselves and as long as nobody is on the balcony to the left or right you can't pinpoint the source. How about everyone mind their own business and enjoy being on vacation. I paid a premium for the same balcony to be smoke free so yes, if I smell it and it's bad enough (which means that it has to be right next to us and I can tell where it's coming from) I am going to report it. And I will emphasize that this pertains to cigarette smoke as well. I'm all for minding my own business but when someone else's business starts interfering with mine that is different. (And I will add that in all of our years on a balcony this has been a non-issue and I expect that it will be going forward as well.) Yes, there are some who do overreact but my wife almost needed emergency medical care onboard after we spent an hour playing trivia within smelling distance of the casino. Joebucks Posted December 9, 2022 #83 Share Posted December 9, 2022 I hate weed smoke as much as the next person. A lot of people definitely do overreact though. There are some with legitimate medical concerns, but no where near as many as they make it sound. The same with cigarette smoke. Some people think a smell of smoke is a death sentence because of "second hand smoke". Weed is still outlawed in many places. Yet it is largely smoked without punishment. This is the culture we've allowed. It isn't going to get any better.
FSHLOT Posted December 9, 2022 #84 Share Posted December 9, 2022 By reading some of these posts with people having breathing problems should look into a smoke-free cruise. Not sure if they have any such cruises But if you go on a cruise where you know the smoke will bother you (even in smoking areas), Dont expect everyone to cater to you. The same people that smoke paid good money for their cruise too.

The problem is when smoking takes place outside of the approved smoking areas. I don't care how much anyone paid for their cruise nothing allows them to smoke in an area that isn't authorized. Nothing.

Maybe there shouldn't need to be a workaround but it's far from a perfect world. As mentioned there are different clientele on the two lines and Celebrity doesn't rely as heavily on casino revenue. I'm sure a good number of smokers do just that. It just means that my money stays in my pocket longer. 😁

mz-s Posted December 9, 2022 #94 Share Posted December 9, 2022 My last cruise was on a nonsmoking line (well they had one or two outside smoking areas in remote areas but absolutely no smoking indoors or on balconies etc). It was very nice to not have to worry about washing clothes because they smelled like smoke, never smelled marijuana, etc. The cruise was not subsidized by casino income so it was more expensive. But there is a place for that in the market and I will definitely sail that line more in the future. I do not complain about smokers in the casino, discos when that was allowed, or in smoking areas outdoors on Carnival because that is their right as it is currently. I was hopeful that the smoke free Casino from last Christmas would last, but it didn’t. Maybe sometime in the future they’ll try again.

vswan Posted December 9, 2022 #96 Share Posted December 9, 2022 The one thing that hasn't been mentioned is that Carnival is an entry option for many young cruising families. If I was on a cruise and had "stretched" my budget to get a balcony to have more space for my kids to enjoy, I would be very upset to have either cigarette or weed smells - not to mention in the hallways that my kids need to walk through. 4

I'm sure that the bean counters have analyzed this every which way they can. I have read of many studies that link gambling and smoking together so it does make sense from a revenue viewpoint to allow smoking. I do gamble a little but not very much and I wouldn't gamble more if the casino was smoke free.

They can be easily used almost anywhere and aren't bothersome to folks around them. Unfortunately, sometimes they are forced in with the analog cigarette smokers and it can be rough to be around once you've given up the ciggs; the stench can be overwhelming. I was hanging out on the smoking deck on Panorama last time I was on and had to get up and leave one time because it was unbearable. This from someone who enjoys cigars also. 😁 I don't tend to mind cigarette smoke in open air, however, on the Spirit two weeks ago, the pool by the smoking area was the least busy and I managed to find a chair. I couldn't tolerate it. The casino actually wasn't bad unless someone sitting right next to me was smoking. I even had a woman offer to put it out if it was bothering me. I thanked her and declined, told her I didn't mind. While I did, we were in a smoking area so it was my problem, not hers. I did appreciate the thought. 14 hours ago, EngIceDave said: What gags me more than the smoking, it the smell of the ashtrays.
