I am no expert, but most flight bookings might have 'changes' with a FEE.

I would hate to book this kind of international travel with a totally locked-in ticket, and no insurance.

That's what the $200 was for, the change FEE. 🙂

Is there a different between change fee versus cancellation fee?

Yes, but you'll either have one or the other.

My understanding is that if your going to make a change in "flight date and time"" you have to do it prior to departure. And therefore, wont most people just cancel there flight and rebook after they have decided on there next cruise.   Just wondering.  Here in Canada with Air Canada there is a change fee and a cancellation fee.  The two are separate category.  I just have this funny feeling that guest wont get all 100% back.. There will be a lost if they don't have travel insurance

It depends largely on how they booked: Basic economy (stripped down version, not picking seats, no cancellation, changes, etc.), standard economy (change for a fee, cancel for a fee), etc.

Now that I’m home and caught up on all of the posts in full, What exactly is the 50% FCC based on? Anyone know? Again, to anyone whose cruise was cancelled, I’m sorry. It sucks.

It's based on what each person paid for the "cruise fare" portion (not air, taxes, port fees, etc.).

And it’s a bit more complicated by the fact that (based on our past experience when a cruise was cancelled due to a ship wreck).  If one used FCCs to pay for part of that cruise fare, the 50% only applies to the portion of cruise fare paid with “new money”. If FCCs were used to pay for the entire fare, then 50% of nothing is nothing.

Yep!  Which is why those who booked using a casino comp are basically SOL.  If there was no cruise fare there's no FCC.  The Princess casino was hyping free cruises on the inaugural and other Sun cruises for quite a while last year.  Glad I passed!

Wow. I am so sorry to hear of this cancellation. I wish the best for all of you on this Inaugural cruise and to those who were injured and work at the shipyards in Italy.

New mystery.  If you check your Princess App, in the Reserve Dining section, a new specialty dining venue was added sometime today.  It is called HOT POT priced at $49pp.

I checked everywhere in the Princess database, and there is no mention of it anywhere.  So, I called the Dine My Way desk.  This was the first that they had heard of it too, and they have no information.  While I was speaking with them, I also asked if they had a sample menu or any detailed information about Dario's Butcher Block.  The reply," we have no information about that either".

Has anyone else heard about the HOT POT?

Great catch!  If that is so, no one told the "app" people, who listed it as a separate restaurant.  Love how everyone at Princess is on the same page.

Our friends on the new inaugural on Feb 18th are now seeing both Umai Teppanyaki AND Hot Pot on the app.  Confused lol

Since we are cruising from Barcelona in July, I was wondering how many kids might be on a Princess ship.  We sailed from Amsterdam last July on HAL and there were not many kids.  I like kids so don’t take it wrong.

On the enchanted in July 2022 to Iceland there were 298 (including my 2) under the age of 18 so wasn't too crowded at all , but i imagine a cruise on the med would have a lot more

Hi Folks,

New here, please forgive me is it's already been discussed....but the Princess Website has a Guest Size of 4200 and a Crew Size of only 1150. Other websites had the crew size at 1547 so I started a chat on the Princess website with one of their agents and they confirmed that the crew size is only 1150.  That ratio is concerning seeing how most ships with 4,000+ guests have at least 1500 Crew.  Anyone else concerned with that?

@VaCaSKR I sent an inquiry about this to Princess management, and just received the following reply back from their public relations manager.  "Aaron: The crew count is 1600."

So, that's good to hear.  I also recommended that they correct the information on the Sun Princess Web Site.  At this time, it still reads the same incorrect 1150.

Well Princess have been amazingly efficient on processing the refunds for the cancelled inaugural - 50% FCC within 24 hours of the announcement and we now have a full refund back to our cards (we booked direct). We are hoping to catch the Sun Princess later this year but 'when' depends on work commitments.

In the meantime, we're bailing to another cruise line next month and jumping on the Norwegian Joy TA to Miami so we can drown our sorrows in the District Brewhouse with 11 sea days!😀

We were just on the Joy for NYE, right before its dry dock.  We stayed in the Haven so we really enjoyed it. The new thermal suite looks like it will be amazing!  I was sad we didn’t get to see it!

We debated about doing the Haven - in fact, just had another upgrade email through - but we have done TAs in Club Balcony on Bliss and Encore and have been happy - and this was always going to be a bargain substitute.  The thermal suite won't be ready for this cruise unfortunately.

@dides please let us know here if you are posting while you are on the NCL Joy because I would love to follow along. 😊

Will do - there is a rumour that Starlink is being installed during the dry dock so hoping it all hangs together!. I'm not sure I will be able to resist checking in on the Sun Princess news either if the new inaugural goes ahead on time (hoping someone will do a Live From for this).

I’m looking forward to following you and also the Sun Princess. It was a high of 36° today where I am at so I need to follow some cruises just so I can feel like I’m there too. 🥶
