It's appeared on the deck plan version and was claimed to have been added - see my post #1118  . It does feel strange though - all the other Signature categories start with an S so why create a D0?

Hi Dides,

did you ever get an answer of the category D0 signature benefits mystery.

Thanks do much.

No Vines?

May as well be on the ancient Island Princess where I spent a miserable 28 days in December. Other than in the steakhouse (Bayou) the quality of beef on board was terrible. ....No Vines there and no International Cafe, it was replaced with additional cabins.

Do I feel the hand of the "Carnival Suits & Accountants, more and more??

Island Princess never had an International Cafe, or Vines.  They were not replaced with cabins, as they were not there to begin with.. Universe Lounge removed, promenade deck cut off, and casino shrunk by adding cabins, but IC and Vines - nope. They weren't there to begin with .

My guess is the numbers in the diamonds represent the ounces of the cut per serving.

I thought so at first, but concluded that this wouldn’t make much sense in a fixed price setting. If there is no difference in price between portion size, it doesn’t make much sense to offer multiple sizes. Most people are going to order the largest size to get their money’s worth. Sort of like fast food places that offer self-serve beverage service from dispensers with free refills, and then offer small, medium and large size cups at escalating prices. Why would anyone pay for anything other than the smallest, cheapest size?

True..however me & others do not have the drink package so it’s a valid point for us.

While it is a valid point, to be fair, there should be two prices for the experience; one for people with packages and one for those without. If the $45 includes wine, people with packages are paying for wine twice. As is the case with chef’s tasting menus, there are always two prices: With wine pairings or without. Here, it would be fair to set the price at $40 and then add unlimited wine with dinner for $5. People with packages can opt for the lower fee and still get wine because they‘ve already paid for it up front.

I have a question that might seem silly to some, however to me it's important. Does anyone know if the Sun has proper wine glasses for red wine? 😃

Not silly at all. We’ve given up leaving this to chance and bring our own. If the venue has decent stems, great. We use theirs. If not, we use our own. One added advantage is that when servers, bar tenders and Dining Room Managers see that you have brought along your own, nice glasses, they recognize that you take wine seriously and the level of service and even offerings improve. I can’t tell you how many times nicer bottles have appeared from behind the bars or from the dining room back room that were not listed anywhere and which were not offered to the general public. The downside is that you will be hit up for every wine tasting and event for the entire cruise. Although I suppose that this might not be a terrible side effect.

Funny! I normally negotiate with the bartender at Vines and let them know that I promise to bring the glass back each night. Since there is no Vines onboard, I just wasn't sure about the wine glasses. You are right about when they know you are serious about your wine. I do get hit up for all the wine tastings and yummy wines do appear for me, as well. Definitely it's worth upgrading to the premier, if one loves quality wine.

Clearly, I am not Dides, but I am booked in a D1 premium balcony deluxe (12320) for the 3/9 sailing and was curious myself. I called my TA and they contacted Princess who said, NO benefits for D categories, they start at S. If it sounds to good to be true….

I know, sad news for me too.

Greetings fellow Sun Princess cruisers!

The following is a message that I posted yesterday on one of the Sun Princess Roll Calls for this June.  I'm adding here with the hope you will find it useful.

FELIX.GIF.3543469a774406cc72b4662fe9e9095e.GIF

"You took us in the wrong direction again!" is never a great way to start a dinner or a show. As a retired navy guy I'm supposed to know my way around a ship! But we solved the orientation problem several cruises ago when I created a cross-section (or profile) of our ship at the time, printed it out, and attached it to our cabin door with magnets. Yes, I know Princess used to hand out teeny fold-out booklets showing the profile view but the type was too tiny to make an immediate decision on which was to go as we headed out the cabin. And the medallion app, nice as it is, isn't as user friendly for the situation that I've described.

In the past, this was VERY difficult to do (e.g., finding a similar class German ship and then modifying it). However, for the Sun Princess this was a snap since I found its profile buried on the Princess website:

sunprincessprofile.thumb.jpg.8db79d97be31f9ec976fdf739954ec27.jpg

I imported the jpeg image into Excel and resized it (with some distortion) to fit on two landscape view 8 1/2" x 11' sheets:

Sun Princess profile.xlsx

I print the file and join the sheets with clear tape, fold the result, and put it into my travel book. I add a mark on the profile to  show our cabin location. Once in our cabin, I use magnets to attach it to the door:

On another thread I mentioned that this would only work for exterior starboard cabins or interior portside ones. After a couple "Aw shucks!" comments, I redesigned the display over the past couple nights so it works for exterior portside cabins as well as  interior starboard compartments:

...and here is the display inserted into Excel and ready for printing:

See you on board!

We don't bring our own stems, but by the end of day one, the sommeliers have us figured out...💕

Hello all! Where do I find al in Barcelona when I board next week which cruise terminal to go to?

As far as cruise terminal number, you will see the Sun Princess upon arriving at the beginning of the Port. I believe there are 4 terminals all in line with the Port.

Find it hard to believe, but just heard on utube that there is no live music on the Sun Princess!!

If your referring to Don on YouTube, I believe he was talking about not having live production shows at this time.

They do have live music performers. Still, I would be disappointed not seeing the new production shows.

Important to us too.  Vines has the proper red wine glasses.
Other bars…most do not.

We got some differing news on a post (don't remember which thread) that I didn't have time to refer to that mentioned "on cruisedeckplans.com."  So this reminded me and I went to check it out.  Sure enough it is on that site but given that it isn't the official Princess site, no one should take it as gospel (which you can't even do with the Princess site).  This may be the reason no one, as far as I know, has been able to provide a description of DO signature benefits and upgrades from the official website.
