Ovation vs quantum ships

 Share

Recommended Posts

For everyone who mentioned onboard closures last season (2022) on either the Quantum or Ovation, please remember that we were still under Covid protocols last year.  All that has changed for this 2023 season.

As for the crew happiness last year Quantum v Ovation - the Quantum had propulsion problems last season (2022) and it contributed to the overall stress on the ship's crew, as there were port-of-call cancelations, and other difficulties..

Quantum sailed all during covid out of Singapore and was fitted for that market.  Some venues that are available in the US market, like the diamond lounge, are converted to high stake casinos.  Restaurants and menus are different also in Singapore.  The early May sailings had venues still being converted back to what is typical in the US market.  Add propulsion issues and a rockslide and it made for an interesting first season for Quantum in Alaska.

We are on the Quantum in a few weeks.  iFly and Northstar have been sold out for several weeks now. I wish I would have made a reservation but missed the chance. All the shows are sold out, breakout room sold out. I think the ship is going to be totally full for the sailing.

You can book North Star and iFly before boarding? That was not the case on Odyssey.

I know I couldn't when I was on Odyssey in 2022 and the same was true on Ovation later that year.  This is the first I have heard of a change.

I just got off the Ovation on May 19th, and of the 5 legs, only the pay versions could be booked ahead of time. Free times could only be booked once onboard. I guess the pay ones could be sold out ahead of time. I never really checked.

The biggest advantage that Ovation has over Quantum is je ability to book a category 2E obstructed balcony snd select a cabin on deck 7 that on Quantum and Anthem are regular 4D and 2D balconies. There can be some very significant savings and you get a great cabin.

Thanks, that is a change since we were on board.  I prefer the free one anyways.  In port you actually have something to look at. 🙂
