Don't know the person that posted this 33 minutes ago on another site but thought I would repost here. I am copying and pasting the post:

Docking in san Francisco this morning on the Ruby princess and we hit something this morning coming into port. Word from the docklands is there is a hole/gash in rear port side of the ship..above the water line appears...as the dock staff all taking photos..we haven gotten cleared customs yet.

That will buff right out.

No problem!

The side bump will, but I thought it was an elite sea witch, until I looked closer. 😉

Anyway, different story on the Aft. 🤔

The "side bump" are marks from the tugs that were escorting the ship in, and have nothing to do with where they hit the dock.

Except the tugs do not work on that side of the ship when going into the port of San Francisco and  pier 27. Plus the scuffs seem a bit high up on the hull for tugs to make.. More likely friction marks from hitting the vendors at excessive speed.

Nothing official I've seen and I don't know what the availability was before this morning but as of right now, all Ruby Princess cruises through the departure on 8/15 (which we are booked on) are unavailable to book.

Ruby Princess is scheduled to go in for a major dry dock in September so this is another item to put on the repair list.

I suspect that the USCG will require a seaworthiness inspection to be made starting today and that a patch box will be welded over the hole if there is no structural problems internally and that will be repaired permanently in dry dock. If there is structural damage internally then the Ruby will have to be put in for proper repairs possibly in one of the Bay Area dry docks.

wow - how sad - and especially for those people who are at the port waiting to board.  Have at least all passengers from the cruise disembarked?

The news a few minutes stated they are boarding the ship.

Officials are assessing the damage, and it is unclear on whether there will be delays for the ship's 4 p.m. re-departure for Alaska. While that departure time is still being determined, Princess Cruises says passengers are starting to board at 11:30 a.m.

It was already sold out.

Guest Bronston

Waiting at S.F. pre-hotel stay for transfer with 15+ other guests. No info to speak of from Princess other than some people are boarding (not us yet).  So much for priority embarkation, no lunch and who knows what else. Princess rep at hotel in the dark as much as we are.

A crisis always demands opportunity to excel. Let’s see what princess does now.

Here's hoping you all get to go.  Cheers.

I am glad that we are sitting at SFO because decided to go on the Majestic on Saturday instead of the Ruby today.

Sorry about all of the folks impacted.

A friend of mine disembarked this morning. She didn’t feel the impact of hitting the dock. She didn’t even realize there was an incident until she was already home and I told her about it after seeing on local Bay Area news…

Would you be waiting at the hotel had that not happened this morning? I confused about how the issue with hitting the pier has anything to do with your shuttle? Unless they are specifically delaying you and you had a set time to leave that has already passed?
