Perfect Sea Day

Since I posted a complaint about all the complaints I thought I should tare my own advice and start something more positive and productive. What is your perfect sea day? As the starter of the post this IS NOT to complain about what is not a perfect sea day but rather,  what is your perfect sea day, real or imagined.

My perfect sea day starts with a leisurely wake up with coffee arriving shortly after to sip while I get ready for the day. Then head up to breakfast in the OVC to leisurely eat and enjoy. Maybe grab a mimosa as well to start the day in a good mood. From there, depending on the climate it is finding some place to enjoy the sun. Close enough that I can get in the pool if I want to cool off or even to sitting with my feet in the water while reading and listening to music. From there it will be a leisurely lunch and maybe a nap or spending some time on the veranda enjoying the sea air with a coffee or cocktail. Maybe catch a movie or head out to the pool again. Then it is time to clean up the sweat and sunscreen and get ready for the evening. Grab a drink or two before dinner and then enjoy my dinner. End the night with a nightcap and maybe check out whatever entertainment might be happening before retiring for the evening. That sounds just about perfect to me.

My perfect sea day is to start out with coffee and breakfast (smoked salmon) delivered to the room.  Then go on a walk, stop in casino for a few minutes, then Cafe Al Bacio for a tea or cappuccino and to read either there or outside.  Then meet my husband at Sushi on 5 for lunch.  After lunch go to solarium and hopefully find seats.  Have a swim, read and relax.  Then back to room to sit on balcony with a drink, get ready for dinner.  Go eat dinner, then maybe casino, show, walk the stores, listen to music and then a nite cap of amaretto and bed!

Ahhhh, this is tough. I LOVE sea days. We’ve done a number of TransAtlantics and unless it is a specific itinerary For the ports, we look for max at seas. And one of the reasons Celebrity is our current Line of Choice is what we find onboard during extended times at sea. I may go with a smaller ship for specific itineraries where that ship makes calls in ports these type ships cant, but at sea, I prefer Celebrity.

Now to actually answer the question of my perfect sea day:

1. The night before, mark off All the things I want to do…..and then miss most of them because we sit and just relax or meet very interesting people.

2. Start with a breakfast on the balcony!

3. Join Behind the Podium speakers. Always very interesting and one of the major Celebrity draws for us.

4. If on M-Class, a dip in the Solarium Pool. Love that thing with all the warm active water and steel pipes on the side with bubbles!!

5. If on E-Class, lunch at Eden Cafe.

6 If on S-Class, relax up forward and watch the horizon.

5. Try to remember to join one of the Trivia games.

6. Meet up with Roll Call friends to play card or table games. Learn something new

7. Again Just Sit and watch the Horizon.

8. Evening. Walk the deck and enjoy the open sea.

My perfect sea day starts with breakfast on the balcony, followed by a couple of hours still sitting on the balcony reading and watching the ocean slide by. Then change into swimsuit and cover-up, go to OVC for a lunchtime nibble. After that find a spot in the shade at one pools, read and lounge in the pool. Then back to the cabin to clean up. Head to dinner, then casino, shops, maybe a show, walk around the outside decks, then back to the cabin for another short lounge on the balcony before bed.

What a refreshing change of pace.

Like many here, it starts with breakfast on the balcony and a mimosa. Then hopefully a lecture. A leisurely lunch in the MDR followed by some quiet reading time back on the balcony or in a quiet, out of the way outside deck. An afternoon cocktail - perhaps a mudslide- and a trivia game. Dinner in Murano, starting with champagne, continuing with a glass if wine and ending with port after dessert. Them the evening show. Wrap up the evening with a stroll on the decks and a little stargazing.

Sleep-in

Have coffee and breakfast in the suite

Either chill out in the suite or take a spin around the common areas of the ship

Enjoy lunch

Finish checking out the ship with a stop in Michaels

Return to suite read and just chill...maybe a stop at the spa, pool, or sauna

Start getting reading for a great dinner....this includes having a cocktail or two in the suite

Enjoy a great dinner

Maybe take in a show or some entertainment

Stop in Michaels for a nightcap and to chat with other passengers

Return to suite read awhile, might have a final nightcap and then drift off to sleep

Main goal is to enjoy the day with DW

Start the day with a pot of coffee while waiting for room service to deliver breakfast.  Breakfast on our balcony.  Change into swimsuits and head to the solarium for some quiet time and maybe dip into a hot tub.  Head back to our suite and relax.  Room service lunch and then DH will nap on the balcony while watching the wake.  I will head to the Thermal Suite and enjoy the tile loungers and just “be”.  Late afternoon watch a movie and then head to dinner.  After dinner stroll the outside decks and stop in Michael’s for a bit.  Leisurely relaxing sea days are my favorite!

That is a good question and ... I am not sure I know the answer...

Depending on the Daily Agenda, these are options I will definitely consider:

Morning coffee on the balcony,

Either a light breakfast snack and coffee at Al Bacio or a full breakfast in the main dining room ( at least once every cruise)

Morning activities can include: browsing in the shop, trivia or other games, casino or Deal or no Deal.

Lunch: Depending on the ship or feeling of the moment, it could be in the MDR, Sushi on Five, The Porch etc,

Afternoon: more games, walking on deck, taking a dip in the pool or hot tub, or enjoying a drink in the Sky Lounge.

A martini, at the Martini Bar is a must before dinner.

We also try to attend the daily show at the main theatre

Then , dinner in the MDR,

A night walk on the top deck

Then listening to music in a bar, prior to retreat, and enjoy a last beverage on our balcony.

In short, sea days are really enjoyable moments on Celebrity!

To be really perfect, my sea day would have to be one of many, such as on a trans-ocean voyage.

During that perfect day, time would be spent in my perfect cabin, promenade deck, upper decks, MDR, buffet, and dance floor.

The cabin would be an OV on one of the lower decks, with a big window so I can gaze at the sky and sea, and perhaps the occasional flying fish or other creature. There would be no clutter in the cabin: no coffee or breakfast delivery, no towel animal, no flowers, no ice bucket, no wine bottles, no plates of cookies or fruit. My bedside table has just my book, glasses, and hand cream.

Breakfast and lunch might be taken in either MDR or buffet, and would be leisurely.  Breakfast would be just the two of us, and lunch might be at a long table where people, including the occasional officer, come and go.

Between meals there are walks on promenade deck and upper decks, enjoying the vastness of the sea and sky, and the variety of colors, clouds, etc.

Evenings aboard, since no one has exhausted themselves touring, are festive.  Dancing in one of the central venues, a drink and conversation in the repeaters club.  Then dinner, at our set table with the same 6 or 8 people, with lots of conversation, and enjoyment of the food.

Before turning in, a final walk of open decks, to look at the stars and feel the fresh air.  Then back to perfect cabin and a best sleep ever.
