Another new Oceania cruise question:

We will be on Vista beginning December 11th.  How does Oceania determine boarding times?

When we logged in  for our boarding passes  they have time slots you could pick

Not sure if  it makes any difference

Usually top suites will board  about 11 am

Cabins may not be ready for other categories until later

Just as long as you are onboard   at least  1 hr from sailing time 🙂

How far in advance will you be able to log in and select time slots?

O will send you an email a few days before your online check in opens up to remind you and then an email when it is open.  We just checked in a few days ago for our 14OCT 23 cruise - so I think 21 days

Datum:  Mar '24, LA Pier 92, Regatta

• All classes were seated in same room, waiting for boarding to begin at 11:00.

• Top suites were escorted aboard

• Then penthouses were escorted aboard

• Then concierge verandas were boarded without escort

• Then steerage 😉 were boarded

I've heard that other sailings in LA ran the four categories in parallel instead of one after the other.

They boarded the same way on September 20th.

Suite cabins were ready by 1pm.

We are boarding Vista this coming Friday. We are a party of seven. Three of us have concierge verandahs. One of us has a regular verandah stateroom. All of us got 11:00 am times for embarkation. Will our single friend be able to board when we do?

In order to complete online check in it mentions taking a photo on your device.

Is the photo essential in order to be issued an online boarding pass ?

Is an online boarding pass essential prior to arriving at the terminal for check in ?

Boarding port is Civitavecchia.

No, the photo is not essential to get the pass.  As I recall, one has an option to skip the photo when retrieving the online boarding pass.

Yes, it is advisable to have your boarding pass with you…just in case.

Probably not, Oceania likes to board the big spenders first, the peons go afterward.

I'd put it as "O is likely to take the opportunity to encourage your friend to be a big spender"  😉

They may still board by cabin category   when you get to the port

In the past year we've been in oceanview cabins on Regatta 3 times, embarking in LA, Seattle, and Vancouver with boarding times from 11 to noon. There was no or minimal (<5 minutes) wait at security and check-in. I'm sure it varies by port though.

We board in 21 days and have still not received luggage tags. My TA said we would get them on the ship! Never heard of this. Have they changed the process whereby you get tags at the dock prior to boarding?

O is no longer sending the "blue" packet to anyone outside North America....does this apply to you?  Our packets arrived closer to 14 days prior to our upcoming cruises.  The porters are all prepared with luggage tags and the cabin list at the port if someone arrives without tags.

If doing a B2B2B I assume after completing the 1st online check in that the following two are redundant and can be ignored ?
