First time Celebrity cruiser here, been on several cruises before, most recently Silversea and my last live from was the Infamous Pirates of the Caribbean cruise on Crystal Symphony with the arrest warrant incident Here’s hoping for a slightly less adventurous adventure this time. Travelling solo and boarding on the 13th. (Do have friends onboard though) I Arrived in Oz on Thursday afternoon after 2 long days travelling from MAN-DBX-MEL- AYQ. Luckily got a great upgrade offer from Emirates on the DBX-MEL leg so snapped their hand off. Uluru was an incredible experience, took a sunset helicopter flight over Uluru and Kata Tjuṯa. Heavy storms the next afternoon meant all excursions cancelled so no Drone show and Dinner. Stayed at Sails in the Desert and couldn’t fault the place. Flew Sat AYQ-SYD -PER to join the Indian Pacific train Perth to Sydney. Plenty on the train are joining the Edge on the 13th. Looking forward to my first “bigger” ship experience and all that this amazing part of the world has to offer. Can’t wait to join the beautiful Edge. Any shipmates are welcome to jump on here too. See you onboard!
Rare DavyWavey70 Posted January 14 Author #2 Share Posted January 14 Fabulous first full day on Celebrity Edge. What a beautiful ship. Dinner last night was at the Cosmopolitan, one of the finest steaks I’ve ever eaten. I Skipped the traditional breakfast this morning and opted for a Champagne and Pizza sorta breakfast instead. Unfortunately as I walked out of the back doors of the ship my Pizza flew off my plate and landed several tables across. The Tasman sea has been known to be a bit choppy at times. I Had a moochy pottering sort of day getting my bearings. Fabulous Figgy Cocktail at Eden at whatever they call the Friends of Dorothy meet-up this week. I think it starts out as LGBTQ but I lost interest soon after the first 5 letters. Dinner tonight was at the Fine cuts Steak House. The Lobster cocktail starter was a bit of a jolt. I’ve never had Lobster, Melon, grapefruit and horseradish before on the same plate but I worked around it. The Ribeye was superb but unfortunately an American portion. We soldiered on through 2 deserts with 3 spoons. The show was very good but nothing you could hum along to. Hats off to the 2girls that looked like they hadn’t had a square meal in weeks mastering the trapeze despite the swell. Some people watching in the Martini Bar and a Bacardi to take away. G’night all xxx

I’m only on the SYD-SYD around NZ but my friends onboard are on the BTB GBR.
Rare DavyWavey70 Posted January 14 Author #5 Share Posted January 14 A couple of practical points. Wi-Fi is pretty good but sometimes laggy. I Upgraded to premium during the sale and here’s the Speedtest at nearly 3am. Also I used the ATM outside the Casino after hearing about the “commission” when charging onboard account. A $200USD withdrawal incurred a $6.95 fee. If anyone has any practical questions whilst I’m onboard I’ll do my best to answer. Anyone that has any tips to stop the coat hanger concerto in the closet please feel free to chime in.

Rare DavyWavey70 Posted January 16 Author #8 Share Posted January 16 Last night was lots of fun. Dinner at the Tuscan which was quite lovely but didn’t quite have the same sparkle as the previous 2 restaurants. Tuscan Shrimp Soup, Pork Cutlet and a rather unphotogenic but quite lovely Bananas Foster for desert. Onto the Martini bar for a fabulous night. We entered Milford sound this morning which was utterly incredible. A Very civilised breakfast in Cosomplotain. Doubtful sound was at lunchtime andDusky Sound shortly after 3.00 what an incredibly beautiful country this is. First Port of Call tomorrow, yeah! Dunedin. 3 days at sea is not for me!

Lastdance Posted January 16 #12 Share Posted January 16 My DH and I hiked into Milford Sound many years ago, being so impressed when we finally reached it after three days. It looks just as beautiful as it was when we entered. Luckily, we also took a boat trip through it. Our hike was up, around and through the mountains, even with a little snow! Thanks for sharing! Rare DavyWavey70 Posted January 17 Author #13 Share Posted January 17 Kia Ora Otago! What a day! Arrived into Port Chambers around 8. Took a little while to clear immigration as it’s our first NZ port. Had breakfast deliverood to my cubin and made my way to the meeting point for todays tour (Taieri Gorge railway and Dunedin tour) All very well organised. 20 minutes bus ride to Dunedin Station and all aboard quite quickly. I wasn’t sure if I’d got my days mixed up as we were clearly in the Hobbits carriage. A lovely train ride through beautiful countryside that was very similar to Wales. In fact the place felt more Welsh than Scottish to me. I Was presented with a vegetable wrap for lunch which obviously went straight in the bin. Spent a pleasant half hour at Hindon Station (think Dolgarrog but quieter) before returning to Dunedin for a city tour. Spent some time around the Octagon and St Paul’s (smaller than ours and less pigeons) before passing an hour in the Museum. A Quick stop at the worlds steepest street (only 10 mins there so obviously wasn’t able to climb it) and a stop at the beautiful Botanic Gardens. Altogether a really beautiful city and a fabulous day.
