I don't know if this will happen, but the closer it gets to our February cruise day, I'm thinking it might. I have done many cruises down through the years, and have always had someone to hang around with if I wanted to. I am to go with my 3 sons/d-i-l's, as well as another friend, but she may not go because of health issues that have started. I am OVER 70 years old, although most people think I look/act younger. I know my family has no problem with me hanging around with them during the daytime (providing my friend does not go), but what would you suggest that I check out to see/do on the Regal on sea days?

There are lots of activities, entertainment going on and it is listed in the Patters- program for the day.  Some of the Live threads show what others do.

I wouldn't worry about it at all. Take some books or podcasts with you and if there is nothing that meets your interests, you can always find a quiet.place to enjoy thise. There are enrichment talks, trivia, games, etc. scheduled through out the day. You can go to any of those. Just sit in the piazza and people watch. My husband and I have different intrest and I'll often go off on my own and do different things. And I'm almost 70.

Also retired age group. Every evening we take highlighers to the next days Events Planner and often we find the things we want to do overlap and have to choose. The days fly by as there's almost always something interesting to do even on full sea days. Tastes vary of course. Be open to trying something new.

If you knit or crochet, there's usually a gaggle of gals who sit in a circle and talk about their grandkids while them make various handcrafted items.  Crooners in the morning was always a preferred spot for them to hang out.

Check out the Roll Call for the cruise and see what other are setting up.

Read the daily activities. Attend things that interest you. If you like trivia go to the 1st trivia sessions and 'join' a team. These team groups tend to remain together throughout the cruise. Avoid activities that are really sales pitches, normally run by the shops on board or the spa. Schedule time(s) each day to be with your sons, maybe dinner, pre dinner drinks, a specialty dinning experience. Your sons will probably be hanging around the pool decks on sea days. You can use the medallion to locate them. Join your son(s) at their activities. I looked up the Regal sailings for February. They are a week long. You will be fine and will enjoy yourself.

My favorite activity from our cruise was the speed painting in the atrium. I thought it was really fun. Basically there are 8 painters and you start painting your own canvas for 1 minute then rotate to the next canvas etc for 1 minute and at the end all 8 people have contributed to each painting and you get a fun souvenir if you're one of the painters

The solo meet and great can be fun or a bust.  Last cruise, it was held in Bines at 5 pm.  Too loud to carry on any meaningful conversations.  Used to be at the Wheelhouse.

Check out your roll call to see if they are going to have a meet and greet.  I’ve met wonderful people there.

Thank you ALL for your suggestions, and I'm sure I will find something to do, but it is just that I have always had someone else to be with. Yes I had already planned on taking a book or two, as well as someone suggested, "people watch." Actually that is what I like to do at the airport, while waiting for my flights. As suggested, am planning on taking a marker, so I can mark the things that I might like to check out. Yes, I'm sure my sons/wives will be a the pool. while not at port. Living in MO, and I just came in from outside, CLEANING off two vehicles of snow/ice of around 4- 5". Naturally it didn't all come off, but at least the vehicles are where I can see to drive now.

You sound like a friendly person.  I travel with friends, but am a solo being.  I like to talk and find that most other passengers are willing to chatter with strangers.  I have no doubt that you will be fine.  Interestingly, I seem to run into the same people over and over again.  Smile and be yourself.  Enjoy family time and your time.

My mother cruised until she was nearly 78 & she made friends everywhere she went (no one would believe she was that old either).

Join a group at trivia or game shows, hit the casino, go play Bingo, lay at the pool, read a book, enjoy the musicians & a cocktail.

Trust me--you will have a wonderful time!
