Main dining room question on Sun Princess

We will be sailing on Sun Princess in May. Do we need to pre book our dinners in Main Dining room? We always enjoy Any time dining on other cruise lines.

How does it work on Princess? ( have not sailed on Princess since 2006.) Lots of changes....

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Go into Dine My Way (DMW) and book a DR and time. You can always change or just show up. There is no actual experience on the Sun Princess as to how well and smooth the DMW system is working.

You can be a walk-up on any Princes ship.

UGH to the 5pm.  But at least on Deck 7 you can "roll your own".

I actually like to dine at 5pm for several reasons…

I don’t have to wait long to be seated

I like to watch MUTS

I like to play in the Casino

I sometimes like to see a show

But I think the main reason why is because that way I always have room for late night Room Service 😂

@Host CJSKIDS -

Thank you for posting that (again). It is nice that the mystery has now been solved about the 3 Main Dining rooms on the Sun.

I'm not sure if it solves the problem as making things more confusing for most people, especially for the first few nights.

We usually dine early,  but alas, there are so many hours in a day, even on a cruise!!!!

I hate the thought of being in my cabin at 4:00 in the afternoon, to get ready for supper.

After a bad experience in Traditional Dining, we have done 'Anytime'.

But, it might be really nice, on the Sun Princess when we sail, to have the Traditional experience.

I think they might be planning to go all out, with this so-called more formal than casual approach..  Greeting you when the dining room opens, napkin on your lap, more time to explain and serve all of the multi-course menu.

It will be so good to finally get some good input when the ship finally sails!!!

Decisions! Decisions!

The "original" mystery involved debates regarding if the 3 levels were pertaining to the type of food and/ or requested attire.

I haven't been closely following the thread.... by the time I get on the ship, they'll be plenty of reports about how it's working out.

I wonder, which dates, how far out, is the dining reservations working?

Is it just the first sailings?  or thru Fall?

Do you have to have the new App?   (which we have hesitated to download)

Based on comments on roll calls, I think reservations have been opened up until the end of March only.

So true. If we ever book the Sun, then I know it will be sorted out by then.

We are on the 20 day cruise starting on March 19.  So far can only book the first 10 days of dining using the app.

I'm sailing in September and have not been able to book times for the dining room or any of the specialty restaurants. I'll just keep checking every couple of weeks. I did download the new app and have had no problems.
