The broken drawer analogy made me chuckle! 🙂 Sailed on EClass which was super nice but I like the older ship styles just as much, enjoy mixing it up. I booked a March 2025 TA on Eclipse, last one before she goes into dry dock next April. We just decided to make it a B2B and tonight went ahead and booked the preceeding cruise as well, so we'll have 18 days on the tired ole gal, before she gets her nips and tucks, and so looking forward to it. Eclipse dry dock? Major or minor? Is it Kelly time? I was hoping to sail on her again someday.

Carpets, drapes, some hard goods so I think along the lines of what they did with Summit. My TA ends on April 3, 2025 and that’s when the work is scheduled to commence.
Rare foodsvcmgr Posted April 25 #54 Share Posted April 25 Mattress seemed fine, the most heavily worn part of the cabin was the balcony furniture but still fully useable including footstools which may disappear when renovated anyway.
D. B. Posted April 26 #55 Share Posted April 26 I was just On Eclipse for a Valparaiso Chile to Buenos Aires Argentina cruise. As at least 50% of the guests were primarily Spanish Speakers so all announcement's and even the main Theater performers repeated most everything in Both English and Spanish. The activity staff and cruise director were obviously selected for their ability to speak both English and Spanish. The Ship itself was in good repair and the Crew were Outstanding. My Veranda cabin was in good shape except for one drawer that could not be closed all the way. 1

Hey you family in the hot tub speaking Spanish, not wanting to share space with two of us. Some of us from the USA speak Spanish so you can stop pretending you don’t understand us when we say “good afternoon” or “excuse me”. (And yes we know the difference between Spanish and Portuguese). Otherwise it was a good cruise. Most pax were polite. Did it take you 2-3 hours to board the ship at Valparaiso like it did on our cruise? We were moved forward because we were with friends who couldn’t stand but it still took us 45-60 minutes at the front of the line to get on a bus and get on the ship. I believe that is the reason that cruise is being changed to a Buenos Aires round trip. Edited April 26 by zitsky
Rare hcat Posted April 26 #57 Share Posted April 26 We are considering ECLIPSE for 2026, for a Carib cruise with US departure! Any updates on the tefurb will be appreciated. We had that language "no entiendo" excuse on a very crowded cruise from Miami...kids running wild! We goofed and booked over a school holiday..ugh!

My understanding is she will go try dry dock following the TA that ends in Southampton on 4/3/25. The next cruise following is not showing on the website until April 27 from Amsterdamn. So basically only 3 weeks to do whatever they plan to do.

I took a Taxi from my Hotel to the Cruise Terminal ( a mile from the Ship) and then the Taxi had to sit for 45 Min. in a one lane Q before we got to the terminal then found disorganized conditions. I think that is why the future X cruises around the tip of South America will start and End in Buenos Aires. It makes sense because the first 5 days of my cruise South from Valparaiso were Sea Days. We also had Great Weather at the tip of SA but then a big storm off Argentina going Up the East side made for 2 cancelled ports. Still a wonderful experience overall.

celebrity cruiser Posted August 12 #61 Share Posted August 12 We were on the 7/21/24 sailing and found the ship to be in excellent shape inside and outside. I mentioned to the Matre’d in Lumanae that food quality was excellent the entire cruise, maybe the best ever. Sorry I can’t speak to the MDR or OVC as we did not use them.

The gangway is c open to the elements and it takes up to 4 crew members to get 1 wheelchair up the ramp

Are there any nights that are more dressy than others? chic nights are the dressyist (is there such a word) but the majority will still be in "smart casual" mode. If you want to make an impact go ahead you won't be alone. For us the limiting factor has always been the baggage allowance on the flights - now we stick to smart casual. luvscruising2007 Posted August 15 #66 Share Posted August 15 Thank you for your response.I was thinking cocktail type dresses/pants. I would rather be over dressed than under dressed.
mauimary Posted August 15 #67 Share Posted August 15 We did a B2B on the Eclipse Nov 2023. We were surprised at just how many folks were dressed up. So many pretty cocktail dresses and dress shirts. There were also many who were casual. We always take a dressy outfit with us. For myself I wear dressy slacks and dressy blouses or jackets. My husband wears dress shirts and brings a navy blazer. In our cruise it was surprising how many guys dressed up.

gabbygrrl Posted August 16 #69 Share Posted August 16 Just booked for Oct 2025, 4 of us in a Sunset Concierge Balcony. Does anyone have experience with the sofa bed? We've never sailed with 4 adults in a cabin. I presume we can request a mattress topper for it, just like the bed, but I'm curious how comfortable 2 adults will be on it. Rare cruisestitch Posted August 16 #70 Share Posted August 16 That’s going to be very tight and probably not very comfortable with just the one bathroom for the four of you

It's the bedding on the sofa that is a concern. None of us are younger than 45, so achy backs are always front and center. On as ship you tend to use the room much more especially on sea days. You said October but what cruise? We are on the Transatlantic.

ch115979 Posted August 20 #74 Share Posted August 20 We were on the Eclipse in July. She looked pretty good. Some signs of wear and tear but not bad. She is not scheduled for a drydock until April 2025. I read that during the drydock she'll have a 'soft' refurbishment (e.g., carpets, drapes, etc). It's a 10 night Med cruise.
