OK so you got one out of three! 🙂

Sigh. 🙄 He's scarfing down cookies all the while going 'nom nom nom" (which you can actually 'hear' since we are all familiar with the character).

And I'll tell you what: a year from now I will report back when I'm on my 32-night 🚢 cruise and show you pictures of 🍪 cookies. And I will giggle and have a sense of humor while I am eating my 🍪 cookies going 'nom nom nom'. And I will specifically purchase a Sid stuffed animal and we will both enjoy 🍪 cookies together.

And we will both laugh and laugh and laugh🤣 🤣 🤣

😎

My all time favorite cookies are the plain old butter cookies that the Girl Scouts sell.  I normally buy 3-4 boxes every year!

Somehow I missed them this year, but my absolute favorites from them are Samoas.

Are they made of real Girl Scouts?

🤣 we hope not. But I can say that I have yet to meet a Girl Scout cookie that I didn't like. A couple years back someone donated pallets full of cases of Girl Scout cookies to the VA hospital where I worked at, and they were randomly passed out to the veterans and employees. Also being a veteran, I ended up with 12 boxes of different cookies, just to show you how many were donated to the hospital. And of course shared them with my three coworkers in the office. 😁

The quote came form one of teh Addams Family movies.  Do you recall the scene?  I believe Wednesday had set up a lemonade stand and a Girl Scout came by to purchase a glass and asked if the lemonade was made with real lemons then asked Wednesday if she wanted to buy some Girl Scout cookies/  Wednesday replied

'are they made with real girl scouts'.  It was something along those lines anyway.

It's been a while, but now that you've refreshed my memory I do remember. Had to enjoy that scene one more time...🤣

The fact that the girl scout just walks away without a word kind of makes that scene.  I love it!

so they bought the snacks back to the casino?  I was on the Getaway earlier this year, and no snacks in the casino at all.

I know this thread is about cookies but, no, didn't see morning danish nor finger sandwiches and assume no late night food.  Tray was empty when I thought to look.

I just got off the Prima last week and they didn't have any cookies anywhere. People were complaining about it with each other too.

We just got off the Prima last week too.   We received a plate of fresh & delicious cookies delivered to our room.  It was probably one of our Club Suite 'amenity' deliveries.  I didn't look for cookies elsewhere and never ate at the buffet.  We loved Indulge Food Hall and were quite satisfied with the hand scooped ice cream choices most days.

(My mom was a genealogy 'fan' too!  Decades ago, I spent many hours helping her research those old microfiche files.)

As an addendum to my original post... we were on the Getaway last month, and yes, the quantity of abundant cookies available at any one time has been drastically reduced.

However, as others have stated, we received a plate in our room (Club Balcony) early in the cruise, they were available in the wonderful spread that NCL put out for the M&G, and they were available every night in the casino as a late night snack.

Knowing they would most likely be thrown away after the M&G, some of us took plates of the left over ones to our rooms, therefore helping us avoid the dry times when cookies were not to be found.  I always bring some Ziplock containers and/or bags to store things in, so they made keeping the cookies fresh easy.  I also would abscond with a couple when returning to our room after I was done in the casino.  God forbid we don't have cookies every time we want them.  🙄

Note to self: bring Ziplock baggies.

We could leave comment cards with guest services saying that passengers want cookies, and not to reduce or discontinue them.  Maybe the cruise line will listen.  I hope that they do.

Or maybe cut back on the # of cookies they include with room service - that seems to be where the "waste" is coming from. I saw 2 different leftover cookie plates in the corridor on my latest cruise - looks like a plate is at least a dozen cookies. Make it 6, if someone wants more, they can request a supersize.

I do not doubt that cookies are the biggest source of *publicly visible* food waste, but if NCL bothered to do proper analytics on this they’d probably find that cookies actually prevent a huge amount of food waste. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been craving a small sweet treat after dinner, and I pace around the buffet, thinking that nothing looks very good. I grab a couple of items, take a bite out of each, and as suspected, they aren’t very good, so I waste them. I sometimes cut them up with my fork to try to disguise the fact that the entire dish went to waste. I end up walking up to the poor cookie guardian and begging for cookies. If they’re out of cookies, I might even make a late trip to the MDR to try a couple of desserts there, but they’re rarely good and are often wasted as well. Keep in mind I would never be this wasteful on land, but I have a serious sweet tooth and I will not stop until it’s satisfied. A couple of cookies is all I need, it’s not very complicated.

I’ve run into the same issue with food. The non-specialty food on NCL is so hit or miss that I end up wasting tons of meat because I literally cannot swallow it. If they’d just make it right the first time, there would be much less waste. I find the F&B culture on NCL to be very perplexing. I think there are many cases of middle management striving greatly to *appear* to be achieving sustainable development goals set by corporate, but if a real numbers person took a look, they'd realize that it's mostly just for show.

I would rather find cookies in my room when I check in, than chocolate covered strawberries.  Neither DH or I like chocolate covered strawberries, so they go to waste.

Yup. I've suggested many times that they give a choice - a simple check-sheet like you get for breakfast service. I can't eat the strawberries due to allergies, so they usually do go to waste.

As a Diamond, the plate of chocolate covered strawberries is a useless perk for me personally. I love fresh strawberries but don't want chocolate on them. So, I make it a point to tell the cabin steward to take them on the first afternoon. If he forgets, I just sit the plate next to the trash can so he can dump them the next day.

This reminds me of the bottle of sparkling wine that used to be a perk before the pandemic. For a period of time, they allowed cruisers to exchange it at a bar for a bottle of house wine. Seemed reasonable to me because I don't drink sparkling or white wine. Then they discontinued the swap. Bottles most likely stayed in the cabins, collected by the stewards and recycled to Latitude members on the next cruise.

We also would rather have the cookies than chocolate covered strawberries which always go to waste when it is just my husband and I.
