I think I’m all caught up. Here is the rundown.

Three people were removed from the ship in Freeport. Two for being rowdy. One for being dead.

An altercation during the second half of the cruise lef to the 24 hour security service on deck 1.

And someone from deck 6 was arrested in Mobile

Seems like a rowdy crowd.  Well….except for the dead one.

Last December we saw a record, for us, number of folks taken off the cruise. It was a fourteen day Journeys cruise so unsurprisingly an older crowd. But this seemed to be an older than normal Journeys cruise. I'm 70 and I was probably the average age. So lots of folks over 70.

Every time we hit port there were at least a couple of ambulances waiting. The thing is, old women find cruises romantic but the old guy's hearts can't take the exertion...

I'll keep booking lots of cruises for DW and I though. Kind of like picking how you go...

You’d think I’d notice the pool drained or something…but apparently they never cleaned it. This might be a survey item.

Having extracted this part of the post from the rest of it, I can now say:

.😁😆😅🤣😂.

Other than the unfortunate death I take this as a good sign.

It's about time Carnival clamped down on antisocial behavior.

Today marks the end of an era. It’s the first time since I started cruising that I haven’t embarked on leap day. It was going to be challenging to do so on a Thursday. Ultimately the price I got on that Spirit cruise was just too good for me to pass up. It was a nice run though.

Any final thoughts on the Spirit Class now that you have concluded a cruise on one? :classic_cool:

I think it's fine. I like that they got a sports bar and RFP in there. I like the theater and it's decor. Its kind of cool that the comedy club is directly below the theater. Serenity is nice but if you aren't in a clamshell you basically have no view. I like Splendor better where they had some clam shells but not all the way around. And the bar was closer to the water so you could sit at the bar and see the water.

I don't like that the roof was broken or that it didn't cover all of lido. I don't like that forward pool area is smoking. It's probably the best ship I've ever been on for smokers. Which is shocking since they've really been cracking down on that. Funny thing is that smoking pool and hot tub is actually where most of the kids played for some reason. And you could smell smoke all around it.

I don't like that it doesn't have secret decks. I was really counting on that exterior deck 3 area but it was roped off most of the cruise. I don't like that the ship size and low forward entertainment venues likely contributed to entertainment being shortened /canceled.

It's probably a better ship in the calm waters of Alaska.

I still think Dream/Vista/Splendor classes are more my sweet spot.

Did they actually say the roof is broken? I have a 14 day Alaska cruise on the Spirit next month and closed roof would be oh so much better in Alaska!

It’s just what I heard. I heard the motor is broken. I think it was fairly obvious. We had cold and rain and they never closed it. Then on our good sea day they didn’t fully open it. Seems like it’s stuck at about 90% open. Just like the screen on jubilee that wouldn’t go up. They never made an announcement. It just never went up. I think what they mostly care about is that the roof on the casino works.

When I cruised to Hawaii last month on the Miracle the roof was also left 90 percent open through cool weather and rain. I will know definitively on April 23rd if the Spirit roof is working or not. Casino will be open come hell or high water 😉 on cruise ships.

Well on Venezia they closed it almost every day during our transatlantic crossing.

I wouldn’t lump carnival in with the others. They’re on a different level with their casino and bingo obsession.

We are on this cruise also and I really hope the roof will be able to be closed.  Otherwise, it could get a little cool in that area.

Is that pool supposed to be green?

I think so. It was the same way on Glory and I was asked the same question. I’m not a pool expert but I assume there’s something with the tile on the older ships that makes it look green…especially since the water in the shallow area doesn’t look green.

"Algae Bloom Green" is an odd choice of pool tile color!

Actually it provides plausible deniability about the water being green from algae 🤣.
