LIVE from Oasis of the Seas Transatlantic (with bonus Disney World) April 2024

Recommended Posts

Alright, let’s catch up on last night. I had dinner at 150 Central Park.

IMG_0707.thumb.jpeg.3682f65b71c950b57b392c8b9ee1ca61.jpeg

I wanted to try all new things, so I decided to do a seafood feast.

But first, the best bread at sea. Yes, I’ve said it. Come at me. I will die on that hill.

IMG_0710.thumb.jpeg.ebaf091a9aac6f8911749b2f937581e4.jpeg

For my appetizer, I had the scallops.

IMG_0711.thumb.jpeg.4c03fe9c650bd1d51e7b0339db19aab3.jpeg

They were cooked perfectly. Not a hint of rubberiness at all. I would absolutely get that again.

Then, I had the lobster thermidor.

IMG_0712.thumb.jpeg.582785c0afdbae7e23587e25e8a2b6db.jpeg

I had heard not so good reviews about that entrée, with some people even saying their waiter had discouraged them from ordering it.

I absolutely loved it. The lobster was cooked well and it was so decadent and creamy. I have never had lobster like that. I will get this again for sure.

For my dessert, I also went with something new. The Hazelnut Passionfruit Bar.

My first reaction was “why is it so big?”

IMG_0713.thumb.jpeg.a5046e0be3ce74a93d45f391f1b7950f.jpeg

Again, that was a hit for me. I enjoyed those flavours together more than I thought I would. It’s completely different, but it reminded me of the dessert apple from Wonderland in the sense that I could eat the whole thing and didn’t feel awful afterwards.

I think it was my favourite dinner I had on board.

After dinner, I stopped at the Treillis bar for a chocolate martini. I’m not sure what my issue is with that bar, but I forgot to take a picture again. A couple from Cruise Critic spotted me and we ended up chatting for a while until it was time to head to Crazy Quest.

IMG_0714.thumb.jpeg.4a2ca31328d2e9a93e2aa911daa4a59d.jpeg

I had not been to a Quest since before the pandemic. Isn’t it a weird activity? You get assigned to a team with all the strangers in your section and suddenly you would give your life, or worse, your bra, for those two captains to win a keychain.

But that’s all I’m going to say, other than GO TEAM NUMBER 2!

This morning, I had my coffee from the Café Promenade again.

IMG_0716.thumb.jpeg.817023f6db80921cff0b6e6b229100cc.jpeg

Then, I brought it with me to the Boardwalk.

IMG_0719.thumb.jpeg.bbe4c99fd4a957f3c975f9dc4d3112e0.jpeg

I had breakfast at Johnny Rockets. It was a lot less busy than the last time I was there before the Top Tier event.

IMG_0720.thumb.jpeg.1d7b6a1810e4e1969f1164f1b66c871c.jpeg

I had the buttermilk pancakes with a side of bacon.

IMG_0721.thumb.jpeg.561e15608e045e4bedf5c3d757d0dcac.jpeg

One lady from the team thought I had brought my own honey, but I explained that it was maple syrup. She said the syrup they provide IS maple syrup.

Oh, my sweet summer child.

Next time I need to bring some small shooter glass to have maple syrup tastings.

I ate quickly and then exited the Boardwalk to rush to the theatre.

I recently did 150 Central Park for the first time ever, although on Symphony. It was my favourite meal of the cruise too.

I had the lobster too and really enjoyed it.

For dessert I went with the fried cheesecake since it's their signature dessert but after seeing your pic of the hazelnut bar that's what I'm having next time. It looks very yummy. 😋

I tried the fried cheesecake on a previous cruise and it was indeed delicious. Now that I’ve tried all their desserts (I think) I’m not sure I’d be able to pick a favourite. They’re so different!

After breakfast, I rushed to the theatre and made it just in time for the Captain’s Corner.

IMG_0724.thumb.jpeg.e9cfc09334a6834038228c0970b8614b.jpeg

IMG_0726.thumb.jpeg.2b3354f5b8ffd4851e70c50db14b4276.jpeg

I think it was my first time seeing the captain while not in the pool playing volleyball.

It was interesting, as usual. I always enjoy it even if I never have any questions to ask.

Afterwards, I went up to deck 16 when things looked a little spooky.

IMG_0727.thumb.jpeg.22403dc61dc9ee59f8517b5ef85d498e.jpeg

I got myself a Strawberry Lava Flow and found a good spot from which to watch the Belly Flop competition.

IMG_0734.thumb.jpeg.dc944281ef793ef00d3b721899d27bba.jpeg

IMG_0735.thumb.jpeg.0951fb2e3c422f6675d9c4f33582c04a.jpeg

It was chilly, and they had a hard time finding participants. Most people around the pool weren’t even in their swimming outfits. One guy had to run and get changed to participate.

It was so chilly that they had a coffee cart close to the elevator bays on deck 15.

They managed to find 6 brave participants.

IMG_0736.thumb.jpeg.003fad425f62df1522788c9e5f1a690c.jpeg

There was a pretty good audience. Some holding their coffee cup close to warm up while others were enjoying some soft serve.

IMG_0738.thumb.jpeg.64f2b6e7417d32440ba76f634eb47e0e.jpeg

Here’s the winner in action. He had a special technique where he would keep his arms behind his back.

That sounds so delicious! We don’t have Chickie’s and Pete’s, but I’ll order some seasoning and try to put something together with the Air Fryer.

Not that I’m excited to have to start feeding myself again in a week 😔

After the Belly Flop Contest, I went to the Pub to warm up, get a drink, and participate in Love Song trivia.

IMG_0743.thumb.jpeg.114eb5a2363b01d0c2a94e47f3fc01ff.jpeg

I ran into some people I met in the Music Hall ages ago (that’s what it feels like). I joined their trivia team because there is strength in numbers.

I got something weird. Let me look up the name. It was an El Toro: tequila, lime juice, pineapple and jalapeño syrups, and topped with beer.

IMG_0744.thumb.jpeg.23753d37579c3bec634da81d67334b51.jpeg

I was hoping the pineapple and jalapeño syrups would make it interesting, but it just ended up tasting like beer. You may have noticed from what I’ve been drinking on this cruise, but I’m not really into beer.

It was a very chaotic round or trivia and I thought we did pretty well, but not keychain well.

After that, I went to the theatre for the Love and Marriage Show where I ran into the guy who had organized the solo meetup on day 1.

IMG_0745.thumb.jpeg.3156321f61d7079394d04ca6f31a22bf.jpeg

It was a fun show, as usual. The middle couple switched things up during their audition and she did Tarzan. I think that’s why they got picked hint hint.

IMG_0746.thumb.jpeg.4c9a614f104255aa48e7554e1e1fb82d.jpeg

IMG_0748.thumb.jpeg.890b2035b110280e25f56097b033a802.jpeg

And then it was time to go back to my stateroom for my pre-dinner shower and rest. It feels like I’ve been running from one activity to the next today. I’ve barely touched my book!

Since you are spending so much time in lounges can you take a gander of what brand(s) of non alcholic beer they have available?

Not being judgemental before my liver issues and transplant 8 weeks ago.  I would spend a lot of time in lounges reading and enjoying a glass of wine or a mixed drink.  Now that is not an option for future cruises so reading and enjoying mocktails and NA beer is in my future.

The inventory may change while she's in Europe. A generic list should be available in the app (under bars).

I will ask from now on when I visit a bar/lounge.

I hope the recovery is going well. Hopefully it’s a speedy one!

After the Love and Marriage show, I returned for my stateroom for my usual pre-dinner refresh/changing of the Disney shirt.

I had to stay in a Disney mood, however. It was Disney songs trivia at 19:15 in Boleros.

IMG_0751.thumb.jpeg.035f89c474e6174388b0e85999272d66.jpeg

I had a coconut mojito to get in the trivia spirit(s).

IMG_0749.thumb.jpeg.70ed10ed50d57c23d96b7aa1e8d1bd00.jpeg

The place was absolutely packed for trivia with some people having to sit on the floor. I teamed up with the same people from Love Songs trivia. Our confidence was high, but we were two points short. You know because of who?

Phil Collins. Not happy with doing the music for one Disney movie, he had to do two! And we guessed the wrong one!

I’m not sure why, but when we got out after trivia there was a huge line for Cats in the theatre. Not sure if it was standby or if they were just waiting to be let inside.

Agreed. I noticed that on the transatlantic last fall on Odyssey going back to the US. Many food items & drink items were different than the normal US sailings.

Diet coke was "coke light". The hot dogs & sausages at breakfast were completely different, and not in a good way. Not a fan of Italian hot dogs lol.

The one major win was the ice cream. The Italian provider ice cream mix they used blew the normal US mix out of the water!

Dinner was at Chops tonight. It was formal night, so people looked particularly fancy and there were lines for the hottest picture spots.

IMG_0759.thumb.jpeg.c429c6d88e0e802a9ee12239fee84be8.jpeg

I started with some bread. I had to. It was all pretzel-ey and warm.

IMG_0753.thumb.jpeg.d9a82dadc248f4ac09aca65351c22824.jpeg

Since last time at Chops was a seafood night, I decided to go all meat.

I had the carpaccio for my appetizer. It was my first time trying it and I liked it a lot. It’s not too heavy, so a perfect way to start the meal.

IMG_0754.thumb.jpeg.03325fb8f5aecb315021d792dd3650a7.jpeg

I said all meat, but I meant all meat and also mushroom. In soup form, of course.

IMG_0755.thumb.jpeg.a6a0f6992cb127a70953dbbd889fc4fd.jpeg

I had the petite filet for my entrée with small portions of the mac and cheese and mashed potatoes.

IMG_0757.thumb.jpeg.575b7ae4b72d111932f27b84c6368922.jpeg

Last time I’ve ordered the mac and cheese on Chops was on the Anthem and I wasn’t a fan. This time, it was super creamy and there were crunchy bits of sharper cheese on top that were super fun. The mashed potatoes were alright.

Now, was the filet at Giovanni’s better than the one at chops?

🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁

Yes. I think so. Both were cooked just like I asked, but I found the one from Chops was tougher.

Not that I had any room for dessert, but I made an attempt at that giant thing.

IMG_0758.thumb.jpeg.81a44ae399f0d02c9352eeb03bd83517.jpeg

I couldn’t finish, but what I had was good. I just wish there wasn’t that much meringue.

I see you are a trivia fan like me lol. I always make sure to arrive at least 30 minutes prior because the venues get soooo packed (unless I'm already seated from a prior session which I usually am 😆).

I know Cats gets a bad press.
Well, it was standing room only.
And we saw less than 5 people leave.
They got a standing ovation.

It’s one of the best shows I’ve seen on a RCI ship ( that’s fighting talk)

Dinner only took about an hour. I still had a drink voucher and some energy, so I went to Music Hall where they were having a James Bond party with the Oasis of the Seas orchestra.

IMG_0760.thumb.jpeg.163c7b2f67b8d8d902781f2431fc5d49.jpeg

Remember last time when I said I had to stop ordering Strawberry Fields and try one of their drinks with a pun in the name?

IMG_0762.thumb.jpeg.90786d579df3450d7b461e72165f8faf.jpeg

Nailed it.

IMG_0761.thumb.jpeg.2d83981ad7fae7f734cefce2c37f1f30.jpeg

It was alright. Not terrible, but I don’t think I would have it again. So many drinks with fun names left on that menu that I need to try, too.

I am turning this into an early night. Not as early as I wanted, but it’s before midnight so I’m happy.

See you tomorrow for something new I’m going to try.

Many co-sleepers on deck 5 gallery. Is that the reason why so few left during performance?

It’s important to get some good rest before all the port days coming up. I’ll be avoiding deck 5, then. I prefer my musicals without snoring 😂
