Taylor Swift making New Orleans expensive...

 Share

Recommended Posts

Our cruise from Seattle through the Panama Canal arrives in New Orleans

on Oct. 25th 2024. Because Taylor Swift is performing there, for three nights,

the hotels are 2.5 times more expensive and flights are difficult to find,

anyone else thinking of canceling that cruise or do I suck it up and pay

$1300 for one night in a hotel?

Probably cheaper to suck it up, become Swifties, and buy a couple of tickets to her show and try and sleep there!😜

Stay across from new orleans, not in the heart of the city?

Same thing for one of her concerts in miami going on. I am sure I could find a hotel under $1300 that would work for me.

Events happen in the big cities all the time where rates go way up. We dock Sunday in Long Beach on the Miracle, the people getting ready to board get to deal with the Long Beach Grand Prix this weekend for example. Rates for Queen Mary and surrounding hotels skyrocketed. No surprise, not worth canceling the cruise for.

We spent the night after a NOLA cruise, previous post is dead on, we stayed in Kenner near the airport. Plus there's an outstanding restaurant in Kenner.

$1,300 for one night - YIKES!.   Hopefully you can find something else outside of town.  Or use points or something.   If not, I would cancel and book another cruise.   Paying that for one night would bug the heck out of me.   Not to mention you say flights are difficult too.   You asked. 😀

No one is forcing you to stay in New Orleans after you debark.

Just book a flight that leave on debarkation day.

I second this. Why not just skip the hotel and fly home once you debark the ship?

We are on that cruise also. Booked flights and hotel months ago. Got a best western in nola for $400 a night staying two nights and staying three nights in Seattle.

Win it back in casino on ship or at ceasers in Nola LOL

Best bet is to stay outside the city. I normally never recommend that but with Events like T swift and the upcoming Super bowl, hotels if not already booked are going to come at a premium. I recommend in Metairie or Kenner near the airport and Uber into the city to see the sites. There is also a Best Western and a Holiday Inn in Chalmette, La (next town over but opposite direction of the airport) they are pretty new and not as far of an Uber ride as Metairie/Kenner. It's not near the Interstate however.
