Match status in the future

Recommended Posts

Didn't need a new thread for this question. It's been asked in here:

There is nothing to make anyone believe that it is a one-time deal. It's only an extension of the existing program that ended with Elite and Diamond (everything higher was limited to those).

People who already had Elite that were D+ have checked and they are now showing E+

What @Another_Critic said. Before the latest update to match status, when we became Diamond, Celebrity automatically updated us to Elite.  We didn’t have to ask, even though we were first matched when we were a lower category.

Of course our luck, we were on the Icon in March and due to that sailing, are now diamond plus on Royal.  We have been Elite Plus on Celebrity for a few years but only diamond on Royal!  Others may be lucky now.  Not us. But that's life!

I'm D+ on Royal with over 500 points and I don't see any benefits for me to sail on Celebrity (X). In addition, X does not have a solo supplement program which is very beneficial to me as a solo cruiser.

Just wondering if the Casino Royale program will be interchangeable with $ off and free cruises on all of the 3 lines.

While we enjoy Celebrity and cruise with them frequently, in terms of loyalty programs, I agree that the RCCL C&A program is far better in terms of benefits than Celebrity CC. The new tier for tier reciprocity update IMO significantly favors Celebrity cruisers sailing with RCCL, and not so much the other way around.

The DP340 is a big deal for me too. Though I hardly gamble so no freebies. But the solo supplement is why I pick royal.

Also the other benefits which from all indications are extremely better than X.
IMO, the only ones making out are the Pinnies.

Elite+ has 2 bags of laundry, 240 internet minutes, and free "handmade" specialty coffees vs. D+ 1 bag, two 24 hour periods, free machine made specialty coffees.

D+ drink vouchers and DP340 are definitely better, if you can use them.

Yes, I certainly do especially the solo supplement and 2x points.

Also, sail out of Bayonne and X has no comparable ships.

Another issue as I'm in the process of  moving into the cape Canaveral area and I dont believe celebrity has any ships I've noticed out of that port. That was the whole point of  ocing to a cruise port, to go out of that port mostly... celebrity seems to go out of fewer ports. Didnt go out of Galveston either.

Actually, Celebrity will have Equinox sailing out of PC starting in November.

That is because they have fewer ships in their fleet compared, as example, to RCCL, and in FL they primarily sail from FLL. But they do have ships out of Miami and Tampa, and as mentioned, are bringing Equinox to Port Canaveral.

It's not risky if you don't put any risky garments in the bag

But that would have to be defined! Anything with elastic band or buttons on it is at risk - so I guess we don't own anything that would work for the "fry and bake" bag.....

We always use the free laundry for T-shirts, shorts, underwear and socks.  We have never had an issue.

Would never use laundry on any of the ships - way too much risk and not worth it at all!

Are you speaking from experience or just assuming? We have used the on board laundry as well as the dry cleaning service without any issues a number of times, in particular with longer cruises. Not sure what the risk is.

Guess our clothing is not basic enough - we like nice and soft clothing!

I will agree with the others that have expressed positive experiences with the onboard laundry services.  I think a few people had bad experiences, and negative reviews travel faster and echo louder.

I would not use the laundry bags for delicate items.  But boxer shorts, tee shirts, and other stuff like that which is durable and flexible to dryer settings have been returned fine to me.  The dry cleaning services have been equivalent to my local service.  It may cost a little more.  But if I can have a bunch of things ready to unpack without having to go to the dry cleaner, that can be a nice time saver when I get home.

We also take nice clothing and have not had a bad experience.  My question was not with regards to blindly judging one's on board attire but as to whether or not you are forming your opinion of the risk of using the ships' laundry services based on actual experience or just speculation.

Agreed. But since we're unlikely to ever reach Elite Plus strictly through our Celebrity sailings, I'm happy to accept the extra internet minutes I wasn't going to get otherwise!
