Agreed - though I'll add that there's some "special feeling" when you take the $25 they give you (well, $50 - Cheryl gives me hers) and run it up to $500-$1,000+ at BJ. Now, if one could just walk away at that point... if only...

I'd bet a most aren't unless perhaps one of the casino party cruises.

But the $25 credit, like the tournaments, were just promotions. Promotions come and go. I will be interesting to see what comes from the agreement with Bally's. Personally, I'm kind of curious what Bally's is going to offer Diamonds.

I'm glad that Carnival has finally figured out many gamblers are no shows and are adding penalties for that.

Hope springs eternal

It is a dangerous tightrope they are walking

With ships sailing full, they no longer need to give away $10 to earn $11. Better to let everyone pay for cabins. The casinos will still be full, but this time with paying customers.

doesn't the casino pay Carnival the room fare and pay for the free drinks?

Please don't interrupt the rant against the casino. This will be your only warning.

(just joking!)

Allegedly, and certainly not prevailing rates. Are individual rates higher than group rates? A rhetorical question.

As you asserted earlier, the casino is not Carnival. So if Carnival was unhappy with the arrangement, they could presumably change it at any time.

I don't know that Carnival Cruise Line could. Corp could. Corp could also outsource casino operations if they fail to meet desired ROI.

A number of posters here and other internet sources have complained about reductions in casino offers. Perhaps it has already started.

I'm still getting free rooms, invites to branded cruises, etc., so the offer reduction isn't felt for me yet. I'm not a high roller so I don't typically get free play offers to begin with, so I can't say if those are drying up or not.

They certainly aren't as juicy as they were. Haven't been onboard since Nov. We'll see if they pick up after next month. Sail on 7/6...

That's true - at one point they were giving either OBC or Freeplay up to $2,000 along with the room. Now most seem to max out at about $500.

I remember when they did those tournaments and personally I enjoyed them. Once I almost won, came in 2nd. I think I just got a size small shirt but still fun.

I dont have strong feelings about losing the $25. I did go into the casino in January and got my $25. Most unlucky ever. I never lost money so fast lol. I knew I should look for that german heidi machine I'm lucky on but coukdnt find it ... saw it later.

I enjoyed the tournaments more so this is kinda easy come easy go. Royal only says gives you $6 but if you go in to play within 24 hours it turns into $8. So to me $25 was super generous.

My wife used to always enter the free slot tournaments that came with diamond. She badgered me until one cruise I entered. I won and got this ship on a stick and a free cruise and entry to a big tournament - a couple of hundred thousand jackpot or some such.

We went on that tournament cruise and it was one of our least favorite cruises. Everyone on the ship was a slot fanatic. You could not find an open slot machine until about midnight. To top it off I was out of the "big" tournament the first day of the seven day cruise.

Ever since we avoid tournaments and tournament cruises. We keep looking for a cruise hosting a Southern Baptist convention.

Do we know if they are only earning what say above?  Didn’t someone mention earlier that rooms alone are losing money?

But they certainly haven’t dried up or even lessened.  Maybe slightly lees free play but still plenty of free rooms (net deposit and OBC) on every cruise.

We don't know anything about Carnival Corp components, including whether or not the casino pays for rooms or other comps, or how much. Each Carnival component is run as a separate business and Corp expects each to turn a profit. It is absurd to try to lump them together and say it is all the same company. That isn't how a legitimate business operates.

I get almost daily emails from the casino. Not interested in "free" inside staterooms or Australia, and it seems like most cruises are a year or more out.

Clearly Carnival doesn't lose money on cabins or they would have been out of business a long time ago. I think it is also clear that there are cutbacks in casino offers, and more competition for those cabins.
