Are Your Plans Flexible?

Recommended Posts

What date? We are booked on the 8/16 sailing and would think long and hard about taking such an offer. Being retired, time is not as much of an issue. My daughter is a teacher so I understand those time constraints.

Good luck with whatever you choose.

26th.  So the finer print says they notify you on the 23rd…so you have to be very flexible.

Great deal but also scary.. what if not enough folks take the offer,.?  Will they bump booked cruisers?

Given that I got a move up within two hours suggests to me they have a problem.  Tempting to put a bid there to get into a suite but I just can’t swing that.  The lowest bid on a the lowest suite was $850pp.

Thanks ! Thankfully we also have our flights on SW with points, so no problem if we cancel.

Intriguing offer.

they would absolutely have to bump someone if they can't get enough volunteers.

My guess is they would start with those on discounted fares (casino deals, travel industry rate, etc)

We generally book far ahead.. and would not be  willing or possibly able to change!

Last yr, they made our 5 day Reflection (?) cruise into a longer itin..but it conflicted with a family event..We had to regroup but were given adequate notice.

Hope they can do these re-sets with Volunteers!

A friend questioned whether it is a scam email…it says customer service can’t help you with this which is interesting.  Since I’m not doing it I don’t have to worry but it’s a fair consideration for sure in this day and age.

I mean, they can move me to a suite.  I would totally be amenable to that.  I am very flexible!  😂

I'm on that sailing too. I want that offer!!!

You can have it.  We are in an IV room — assuming it’s legit, I wonder if category/location makes a difference.  Logically they can’t mass mail all staterooms because what happens if too many want the offer…interesting!

Since you still plan to cruise, I am hoping that you will be arriving in Seattle the day before your cruise, and not the day the ship sails - to avoid any arrival delays.

If the ship you have planned to be on is that full, and if not enough booked passengers don't accept the 'are you flexible' offer, then I would expect that there will be a 'hard close' of the terminal doors an hour or so before the scheduled 4 PM sailing, and late arriving passengers will sadly be out of luck.

Yes we are arriving the morning before and have a 10:30 arrival time to the port (given the potential numbers of ppl we will arrive earlier to ensure we account for any traffic issues at the port drop off area.) We are also hopefully going to be carry on luggage only so could deal with our own stuff without issue.

Yeah the only AK cruise I see availability departs July 27--NCL Bliss.

You could get Haven for that $5K.

But I don't love the itinerary--the days in Juneau & Ketchikan are wonky. 630AM-130PM.

And they are tendering at Juneau & shuttling people to town.

But you might not know until the 23rd--or you must decide by then?

We were both teachers.

Personally, I would jump--that would have been a HUGE stretch to our budget.

Hit AK next June.

But I understand underlying issues which may make the decision more difficult.

Yes it says that don’t tell you until the 23rd.  Weird! If we hadn’t had such a hard year and potential for some medical issues that might put travel on hold I would.

Unfortunately that makes booking another cruise that week iffy.

And I will say this the last 4 years have taught me--TAKE THE TRIP.

You just don't know what curves life will throw you.

The only regrets in life I have are the trips I didn't take!!!

As much as it pains me to pass up free money, I have to do what we need now and not wait or get stressed.

Same deal was offered to us on our Eclipse sailing, June 2....You just get the cruise fare, which is great, but you still gotta pay taxes and port fees on the new booking...So it's not entirely free....Also the prices are going up, so same price might not be happening as when you booked before...Nonetheless,  a very large sum of money for those who can do it....

I also thought about my trip insurance which was $500 so I’d have to deduct that “loss” off as well plus potentially add it for a new trip.

As a fellow teacher, I would take the money and do the Retreat on the Reflection over March Break somewhere warm. 😉

Ha ha.  We are fearful DH may not be able to travel.  Plus, we have Silhouette booked for a 16th bday present for DS for break.  If we go though it’s not an adult only trip.. 🙂  We need to just embrace the now.  😂

Some companies will let you move your insurance to another trip as long as you haven't made any claims.

I wonder if Celebrity would re-imburse.
