I hope they do something for solo cruisers. I cruise alone and pay double. Why not give solo cruisers additional sea days?

We wish..but the peace and quiet in my stateroom, it worth it.

If you can use that on the first day out of Galveston that actually makes something I've never used useful when cruising out of Galveston. They took the $25 free play away they should be able to give me a $15 drink.

Pretty sure should/could and would have different connotations.  I cannot argue with your logic….

Many post pictures of their jackpot. Of course some lose. Some win. Many don't play much at all.

Gambling is like prayer..people only talk about it if it works. I never share photos of zero credit losing machines but always take a photo of a big win.

I think of it much more like an addiction….but that is just me.  That said, I have seen people who seem to be praying there…..so go figure.

Oh there are some very addicted gamblers. I used to work on the Vegas strip and have seen some pretty depressing stuff.  On ships the people I hate the most are the button and screen slappers.

Hahahahaha, do not spend all that much time there, butt I love the ones who wave their hand over the screen, like it would make a difference.  The worst part and by far I mean the WORST PART is all the dang smoke.

I am in the same situation! I am not complaining as I love cruising on Carnival. I also gamble and do get casino rates, but it is not enough to cover the cost I pay for sailing solo.

Or when they try to sell the idea that they earned their free cabins

As I always like to remind folks, some of the people who you see villifying casino rates admit in other threads that not only do they get casino rates - but they book cruises using them as well.

Or let us pay for just one. I realize they might lose a bit of $ from bar and casino for the 2nd passenger but they’re also saving $ on food. I’d even be willing to pay a bit more-say 1/4-1/3 of 2nd passenger cruise fare.

I don't think you realize how little Carnival budgets for feeding everyone.  It's less than $10/day.  Cabins are not where the ship makes money.  If they're lucky they will break even on cabins for the expense of the fuel.  Usually they start the sailing in the red and count on onboard revenue to make the cruise profitable.

Why does EVERY THREAD get turned into gamblers vs non gamblers? You guys just regurgitate the same verbal diarrhea every time. It always goes no where because its the same usual suspects making the same comments back and forth. I generally stop reading threads as of late when it devolves into that useless back and forth.

Again, not the point of the thread, but if they choose to give away their money (in the casino), so be it.  Counting it the same as hard earned dollars spent on cruises is totally different.  I do not have a problem with them getting comped, just should not be counting the same as booking cruises.  There are times when I get a cruise severely comped or free, it does NOT count towards my numbers.  Same for other revenue.  Everybody contributes, I spend more on rooms than others, so what.   All that said, it is their ballgame and their ball, they can do whatever they want.  I am fine with it yesterday, fine with it today and will be fine with it tomorrow.

Gambling is just another form of entertainment, much like cruising.  You choose to spend your money on a cruise for enjoyment, much like people choose to spend thousands on a sporting event or a concert, much like people choose to spend their money on gambling.  None of us are forced to do any of these things, we choose to for enjoyment.  I can’t really see any reason it should be differentiated, but that’s just me.   Money is money to the person (or corporation) selling the enjoyment.

Everything is for entertainment, cruising, gambling, photos, excursions, drinks, etc, etc, etc.  You can only do all the others once you purchase a cabin.  Oops, there we go, I purchase a cabin gamblers pay WAY less.  Right now Carnival counts them to same.  The rest (including gambling and everything else) is just fluff.  Did I say forced?

How about gamblers vs gamblers? I think it is absurd for mass market cruise lines to kowtow to any special interest group. Are you still reading?

Now we don't cruise because of the benefits, but there are a couple of things that irk me a little bit. When you reach 200 days and reach the Diamond Level you are given a free specialty dinner for two. When we reached 400 days you would think that they would throw you another specialty dinner since we had spent the money for another 200 days, but they don't. Yet they give specialty dinners to gamblers like they are candy. 🤔

The second thing really won't affect me since I'll never have that many cruises, but I know people that do. Did you know that the Milestone program ends at 100 cruises? isn't 125, 150, 175 cruises and beyond milestones? I think it would be fair to start back at 25% for 125 cruises and so on. I brought these examples up to JH and he agreed with me, and said he would bring these examples up to the beards. We shall see. 😎

I think Carnival should give you 5 dinners or more for what you provide in live reviews and support for the brand.

I was told this by someone I know that now has 250+ cruises on Carnival. Nothing after a 100 cruises. Like I said, I'll never have to worry about that. 😁

That's too bad and I hope the beards do consider adding additional milestone benefits beyond 100. It is still a long, long, way off, but I would like to think someday I will hit 125 and beyond. Since anyone on a casino comp would have to pay to upgrade to benefit it would even cause those freeloading gamblers to open up their wallet to reap the rewards 😁

I'm not going to debate each point since some people are set in their beliefs and nothing I say will change it. But I would like to think most people are smart enough to know that anybody who gambles enough to consistently earn comps is paying far far more than anyone else. If you truly believe Carnival is dumb enough to give away rooms and not see a return on it, then what does that say for the company you defend like somebody spoke ill of your dear sweet mother?

Also consider that on average, a blue card spends more money onboard than a white card. We don't buy the pictures, we have the T-shirts, we don't bother with shore excursions. At least if we have a white card and we gamble, we are spending the money onboard somewhere. I'm speaking in general terms of course, I am sure many P & D spend lots onboard outside just the casino, but on average I think it is a safe bet first timers are the biggest spenders onboard.

I enjoy Carnival warts and all and will continue to sail even with diluted benefits, and I suspect Carnival knows that. But I also enjoy Royal and although I like Carnival better, when I consider the perks from Royal (and their casino which is even more generous to me than Carnival) I am more likely to spend my cruise and gambling money with Royal where I essentially have a comped room AND drink package.

To the original point, I also would not be surprised to see a revamped loyalty program coming for real this time very soon. Keep in mind P&O AU (that Carnival will absorb) has no loyalty program but is instead currently matched into Princess's program. If there were ever a time to finally match across brands, it would be now. It would also be a good chance to dilute some benefits with less backlash.

The narrative could easily be "yes we took away or changed XYZ, but we listened and gave you matching status to our other sister brands and hey how bout that free drink at any bar like you've been asking for?"

We really never used our free drink benefit, as we hardly ever eat at sea-day brunch.  Glad they are letting us use it anywhere.  But just remember - "they can giveth and they can taketh away."  Change isn't always good.  Hopefully in this case it will be.
