ABC, Easy as 123... A Live Beyond Cruise Report

Recommended Posts

Always brush up on my Duolingo before we go to Mexico. I feel accomplished that I can converse in 3 word sentences! We LOVED Beyond and the food and service. Can't wait for your review.

Good morning!

It's embarkation day!!!! Woke up and watched the Women's Synchro Springboard diving, then got a shower. Popped down to breakfast and grabbed a plate of eggs and bacon to bring back to my room where I'm watching Men's Gymnastics Qualifying. 🙂

I have a Lyft scheduled for 10am and it's off to the port!!!

Have a great cruise!  We're on same cruise in August and have stayed at same hotel pre-cruise.

Thanks! It's one of my faves here. No, it's not around the fancier eating spots or the action of South Beach, but between the Publix, CVS, and Walgreens in waking distance you can grab anything you forgot (or your wine or soda); and there are some eating places (yes fast food, but...) around too. I think this is my third or fourth time staying here. The only 😞 is I'm pretty sure there used to be a Starbucks across the street in the same building that the Publix is in (it's like a strip mall kind of place) where there's a bank now.

Welcome back to South Florida.

My family was on the previous ABC island cruise on the Beyond and it was wonderful. Our only complaint was the Aruba “small group” tour that you are planning. You pay extra for a small group. You start off at the dock with 40 people (not small). They put 10 people in each jeep and travel as a group of 40. (Small groups are defined by Celebrity as 20 or less). One of the jeeps got a flat tire and the rest of the group had to wait.  I spoke to the shore excursion folks when I got back and they gave me a partial refund. Basically the difference between and large group and a small group. The tour was fun but by no means a small group.

All set!!

IMG_2087.thumb.jpeg.02cbf9f92971f2ab8ab4cd9a397d608f.jpeg

I moved my Lyft up to 9:30 and have already headed down to the lobby because the air conditioning in my room was not working. It cooled to 70 before I went to bed but was 72 when I woke up. I thought maybe they have those motion-sensor thermostats so didn’t really think anything of it, but as I was sitting watching Olympics I felt warmer and warmer. Looked at the thermostat and it read 74. Dropped the setting to 68 and it never dropped. It was reading 76 when I came downstairs to check out. I’d rather sit in the lobby for 30 minutes where at least it is cool.

And yes, I told the guy at the desk about it so they can have someone look at it and hopefully not have to assign it to anyone before it’s fixed.

Fabulous Lyft ride - Bradley is a great driver!! I’m already here and through and sitting to wait!

Terminal workers are FABULOUS!! I was the first one through so I was given Seat 1. I needed to use the restroom and they TOLD me to leave my backpack in my seat! One of them watched it for me!

Now just to wait for boarding!!

And the first drink of the trip - an Agave Greyhound

I fell in love with its sister the Terrmana Greyhound on the Summit. This is the same, just a different tequila.

Let the vacation begin!!

I think it might have been you last year that did a live posting and introduced us to a lavender lemon drop martini. It's my favorite now. If I'm wrong and it wasn't you, go try one! They are so good. SS Emerald Seas! I went on that ship when I was young as well. I remember they used to make a big hype about winning an "SS Emerald Seas ball point pen!" at bingo. lol.
Enjoy your cruise. My daughter and I went on Summit last July in Aqua and we loved Blu. I hope the food is just as good for you.

I’m not sure if I did a live with one, but I discovered them on the Summit last summer. That is the cruise that spoiled me to Aqua!! Fingers crossed this is just as good!!

Already got the first Lavendar Lemon Drip of the trip…

Yes! The SS Emerald Seas was my first cruise - I was 11, my sister was 6. I think we and the girl between our ages (named Lisa) were the only 3 kids on the ship! We were treated like little princesses in spite of my family only being in a porthole cabin!

That is so fun! I think we may have been in an inside cabin on SS Emerald Seas but I remember it being a lot of fun. I still have videos that my Dad took. I think I must have been in my teens. Or maybe it was later. Time becomes a blur after a while.

Yes last summer I think you were on Summit if I remember correctly and it was right before my daughter and I were going to be on Summit going to Bermuda... and your photos got me all excited about the drinks at the martini bar and the food in Blu. Maybe it wasn't live, but I do remember pictures. I ordered that lavender lemon drop the first evening and was hooked and then they ran out of something to make them and I had to wait several days to get another. The struggle was real. lol

All set for Sail Away!! IMG_2127.thumb.jpeg.6b4ecd0f328d405267466f5c853d47da.jpeg

They just have to clear out the pleasure boaters.

I moved to a shaded area of the outside seating for the OVC - the Magic Carpet was right in the sun. I was hot and the cushions were hotter! 🤣🤣
