Casino Royal "players club"

When I cruised last month on the Independence, I used the Line of Credit application and sent it in to Casino Operations in Miami. I was hoping to get credit approval for markers.

They did not approve me, but based on the fact that I had a suite, they increased my daily limit from $2000 to $3000 and would not charge me the 3% fee if I took money out on my SeaPass.

Needless to say I started with cash, ended with more cash and never had to use either! :)

Well, we're back from Explorer and are not happy with the comps earned - like you pmshirl - we earned way less without a card in than we had on our last 2 cruises - after 7 days (2 at sea) the casino manager and the slots manager came up to us to let us know that I had earned $175 and that my DH was in the negative for about $25 - how can you be in the negative we asked. Well the FREE DRINKS are not free at all - they are taken off your credits!! We had both been drinking and playing the same as all of our other cruises and I actually was really upset. My DH (who I knew was steaming) said "well if that's the way you see it what can we say?"

The 1st night on the cruise I had asked the slots manager - Tony - if tips were included with the drinks and he told me that were NOT. So we tipped our waiter staff for every drink.

Two days later we requested a meeting - after not gambling one penny or even going in casino - and met with them both again. Terry Connor (casino manager) told us that obviously the previous cruises had not been keeping track of our drinks - I asked how we could be charged for free drinks - we are used to land casinos and free drinks are just that - he tried to say that Harrah's (where we are both diamond members for over 10 years) tracked drinks also. I asked how they could do that when we move all over the place and no one asks for your card when you order a drink - he then realized they can't track your drinks but said their program was based on Harrah's Total Reward program.

Last night (of cruise) we went in and decided to play for awhile - used my blue card and got a free drink (figured what the heck) - when I requested a 2nd drink was told that I had to use my seapass which pissed me off no end. My DH went to Casino Manager and he said that he told staff all of our drinks were to be free and wasn't sure what had happened. They credited our account for the drinks we had been charged but I am not happy with this program and do not want any part of it!

I am going to write to Club Royale and see what happens but doubt if it will make a difference - we told them we were there when we came in but I was playing penny, 2 penny, quarters, and dollars and no one was following me around - they also seemed to have the poorest paying machines I have seen in a long time but maybe that was just our luck. They also had the amount of hours wrong but how do you argue that - they said they had no intention of upsetting us and no one had ever had a problem with their points before us - but truth is that did upset us and we spent several nights drinking in Schooner while our friends played.

And the kicker was that they were charging us for tips also - full price of drinks plus tip but supposedly the waiter did not get the tips!

Anyway, we got home Friday afternoon - unpacked - did laundry - woke up Saturday with terrible stomach ache and ended up having emergency appendectomy late Saturday night - am now back home and so happy that my appendix waited until I got home to act up - lol.

What a horrible experience...dont' blame you for not playing or paying under the program if that's hot they trust their "best players". I'm also Diamond with Harrah's 10+ years and would NEVER tolerate any crap over comp drinks for the amount of $ I play...same for the cruise line program. Will see what happens on my FOS sailing next month for me...hope its a better end result.

Glad for you that your surgery waited till getting home and wish you a speedy recovery!

My blue card says casino vip on it -- so I guess they're the same!

Sorry to hear about your Surgery! Hope all is well!

I'm glad you feel the same way as I do about Ship's that don't have inserts to monitor your play!

I am not a very big drinker ( maybe 3 drinks the whole cruise), but on my Jewel Cruise in Jan 09 ( which was a Royal Casino VIP cruise), one of the VIP members was cut off from drinks, the Host claims she used up all her VIP perks for the free drinks! That was the 1st I was aware that they monitor your drinks!

When I do order a drink in the Casino, they never ask me for my card ( can't imagine how they monitor your drinks), but I tip the server $5.00 for an alcohol drink, and $3.00 for a soda! Maybe thats why he doesn't want my card!:)

I know the woman who was told about her drinks, sat at the bar for hours drinking!

I enjoy playing and if I qualify for anything , so be it. I am not about to spend outside of my means to stay a VIP member! Even though it will be 3 years that I have been a member, and received some nice cash back from playing!

I don't usually get cash on my Seapass card for the casino. After reading in CC some got the 3% waived, I decided to try it on the Jewel. They did allow it on that ship!

I shall see on the Explorer in 44 days!

Since the "perks" of the ship's players club are nowhere NEAR as generous as Vegas or even Atlantic City, I've never worried about it! And you are at the mercy of whatever "minimums" they decide on...

Of course, I don't play $50 per hand for 3 hours daily, since everytime I play BJ on a ship, the dealer NEVER, EVER loses! Ever! Very frustrating!

I have won $18,000 and $32,000 playing BJ on RCL ships the last 2 times I travelled. The dealer does lose.

On what will be given for future cruises it depends on your average bet and length of play. After the above cruises I got anywhere from $2000-$3000 off my next cruise. They also send me free cruise deals for off season stuff sometimes kinda last minute type of things. I have kids so the times I can go are limited to Spring break, Chrsitmas and Summer. The freebies are also either inside or balcony rooms I can't remember.

In lines with being tracked for drinks I was also told when they waive the 3% charge on cash draws that also is charged back to your cash rewards(next cruise discount). I have learned just to be gratefull for what they give.I'd be in casino anyway. Carnival was a better to gamblers but the cruise wasn't as good.On GOS in FEB had issue with drinks but it was because waiter didn't know about VIP blue card.He was told and then no problems.I also only have limited amount of drinks. On MOS in NOV my buddy was told he exceded his limit of free drinks .I was sitting there with him playing and was shocked since then Ive learned

  • 3 years later...

We have been members for a few years.

I play primarily quarter machines although on the Oasis I played mainly penny machines. I always play the max coin in, so on the penny machines it is usually $1.00 to $2.00 a spin.

I did actually hit a $2400.00 jackpot on one of those machines last year!

Aside from waving the 3% fee for money, they put another sticker on our cards letting us into any of the shows without reservations....if you have been on the Oasis before, you know how great that can be.

When we first joined there was a sticker placed on our card for free drinks. On the last few cruises they have given us coupons. Like everyday the host will come up to me, say hello & give me more coupons. I can never use them all. But I do have to show my card so I cannot give them to other people. They also send a bottle of wine to the dining room for us & chocolates to our room.

From our last cruise I have $375.00 & my husband $325.00 coming.....here is a great thing about it......from reading the Celebrity boards I found out they have the 'Blue Chip' club. I cannot believe I did not know this since we have sailed with them before but then

I realize from the postings how many people do not know about Club Royale !

These clubs are connected ! I called Club Royale & told them we will be on the Celebrity Infinity in May. They said they will transfer our cash to that ship & we can pick it up at the casino cashier cage. They other day, I actually got a cAll from the Blue Chip club confirming this.

I have only been on the ships where you can put your seapass card in the machine.

ALWAYS put your card in. You can actually see your point total. Your bet size does NOT matter. It is all about the points. You need to average 300 points a day. If I do not play one day, I make it up the next.

IF YOU MADE ENOUGH POINTS ON YOUR CRUISE, FIND THE CASINO MANAGER & SIGN UP.

THIS MUST BE DONE ON THE SHIP. YOU ONLY NEED TO QUALIFY ONCE.

The first night and day you can win. But after that forget it.

I'm curious...you are referring to blackjack. What could the house do to make it so that people win the first night and day, but not afterwards, short of outright cheating?

hi Shirl,

Do you remember me? I had a scooter and sailed with you on the Jewel in 2009. I can't believe our paths haven't crossed since then. We sail about 5 times per yr now and are working on pinnacle slow but sure. How is your family?

They state average play, so $25 or fifty, two or three hours with the odds I was more than qualified. Agian the big problem is there are no posted rules. I cancelled my other three cruises for this year and now they want to discount this and that, sorry I wasn't looking for a hand out just to get into the program.
You showed them huh! "I cancelled my next three cruises!" Oh Boy!!:rolleyes::rolleyes: Takes all kinds:rolleyes:

Don't think you realize this thread is from 2009 and the poster you quoted hasn't been on cruise critic since last June.:)

Do you who to call for past playing? We are platinum and always play quite a lot. I am sure we qualify. Would like to call and see if we qualify. On Carnival, we always get free drinks from the first day on.

You have to qualify and be invited to join while onboard. They will not evaluate your play after the sailing and allow you to sign up after.

Tell them you are interested in joining & you want to be tracked. As I said a few posts back...it is much easier for slot players to be tracked so let them know right away you are interested. I am assuming you are a table player.

They might give you some drinks halfway through. I do not think they sign people up until the last day SO BE SURE YOU CHECK IN WITH THEM THEN BECAUSE ONCE YOU LEAVE THE SHIP, YOU CANNOT SIGN UP !

Club Royale will send you a letter about 6 weeks after that with your membership card & how much $$ you will get for your next cruise. The hosts on the ship do not have the authority to do that.

When you go on your next cruise, the casino hosts actually has a printed list of every member on that cruise. Since we play slots, they can see when we put our seapass card in the slot machine & then they find us, introduce themselves & give us drink tickets.

The last few trips we have had chocolates in our room when we boarded.

More info in my post on the prior page.

One thing that will be very interesting is that we are sailing on Celebrity in May & they are honoring our $$ that we qualified for on the Navigator. They said we still must qualify for their club officially but they are run the same so there should not be a problem.

I hope it is the same because we find Club Royale very generous with their comps & I love the free drinks !

I was told on a February sailing of Liberty that they are looking for $50 per hand and 4-6 hours of play and won't even comp a dinner for less. Their loss as I find that way beyond the norm but my husband and I are from SE CT (near Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun.)

They are clearly targeting those who don't live within driving vicinity of a casino they can gamble at regularly IMHO.

I also feel the same about their "Broadway" shows. I as someone who sees A LOT of Broadway shows, RC's Chicago and Saturday Night Fever can't compare. They were actually painful for me. (Hairspray was actually pretty good though.) On the other hand, if you are from the Midwest and have never been to Broadway I can see how you'd think they are great...

If you play every night in the casino risking about $ 250 or more, I have found the best way to get comps and perks is to go through "CASINOS INTERNATIONAL". Call them and let them know you want one of their junket reps to book your next trip. If you play in a land based casino and they can get your info., you can get a great deal from them. (They have other opportunities to get you established with them too). CASINOS INTERNATIONAL must do the booking for you. Check them out. They have found us very good deals on RCL and other lines also. We get to sail about 4 times a year at very inexpensive rates. Free drinks are one of the perks they will have for you. :D

I've never actually joined the club but was emailed an invite for a free cruise as a Club royale player. They ranged from the 3 and 4 day enchantment up to a week on the Freedom. I do gamble on every cruise but not to the level that's been discussed ($50 per hand). Strange.

I have been trying to get thru to casino Royal and I am a VIPs casino player. I have tried all week, sent two emails and was on hold for 1/2 hour. I am very upset, I am looking for prices and more info.

The best time to call is early morning and there're open from open 9 am to 9 pm EST-- 888-561-2234. I find Monday's are the busiest.
