  1. If it's a kitchen galley, be prepared for no sleep on your cruise. Clanging and banging pots and pans and carts all night long. Try to avoid booking a cabin below.
  2. Very sorry to learn this. Like you haven't been through enough. Hope your recovery is speedy and you are surrounded by caring people.
  3. Love HMC, better than Nassau or whatever else is given to us. Beautiful beach and serene experience. I'll take it.
  4. We took a 42 day and a 49 day cruise on the Maasdam and Veendam.. Itinerary included Azores, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Greece, Morrocco, Canary Islands and so on. Just remarkable. Some of the areas, including Italy, Spain, Portugal and Greece were weeklong trips. Lots of time spent in those countries. Understandably, coastal areas, but just beautiful.. Seeing Malta and other places that I never dreamed I'd visit was wonderful. These cruises ran for five years and were called the Atlantic Adventure.
  5. I dearly wish that they'd bring back the Atlantic Adventure, transatlantic round trip. What a wonderful cruise!
  6. Thanks for your review. The thing that I noticed most is your commentary about the food being sub par. I agree that there is different taste concerning pizza but there are so many options onboard for dining. I like good food, but it's not as important as the itinerary. It's great you did find some positive moments, though.
  7. We've had it but can live without. On one of our longer cruises to Europe, 49 days, we didn't have it and didn't miss it. We were drinking wine in all the ports and happy hour on the ship was fine. Plus, with the wine package, and discounts for that, we were happy enough.
  8. Can't wait to hear from you. Bon voyage and all new years blessings
  9. If going around the horn, take care. Mid ship is best for motion. Just saying.
  10. We've been on a number of cruiselines, NCL, Carnival, Celebrity, HAL, and have noticed that teens will do their own thing, no matter what is offered. There are plenty of people here who say HAL is for old geezers and too sedate, but we found, with our kids, they find plenty to do on their own. Some kids don't need an organzied entertainment schedule, and mine sure didn't, and you'll do just fine. Just depends on their personalities.
  11. I don't go there because the menu isn't that appealing. I think they serve a hamburger as one of the offerings so it's far from special. But, it's a nice quiet place for people to catch their breath after a hectic morning
  12. I'll be following. What great fun lies ahead for you both! Bon voyage!
  13. Lucky you! Have a wonderful time. I look forward to following along, wishing I were there.
  14. Asking people to read is like corralling kittens. Not going to happen.
  15. I agree. And, to add, do you really want to touch a pen that dozens of others have handled? No thanks.
  16. Right. And if you read the ingredients, there is a ton of salt in Beyond Meat. And the point was well made; why would you want a meaty taste if you are truly a vegetarian? I thought the whole point was to avoid meat.
  17. HAL does remove the shells. We've had wonderful warm water lobsters in Antigua, as well as wonderful cold Maine lobsters in Maine. Where I'm from, we call them bugs.
  18. Really enjoy your postings. Bon Voyage! Have a fabulous cruise!
  19. Wow. A smoking thread. I was intrigued only because I didn't know anyone did that anymore .
  20. Like others have said, there's nothing like lobster from Maine or Canada. The lobster onboard, at least in the MDR in the past, was previously frozen and fairly tasteless. There is so much other food onboard that is delicious, so I don't think this is a big deal.
