  1. Some of us Like the Older X ships and the less crowded feeling and decor compared to the Edge class ships glitzy crowded feeling. The only thing I miss on the M class ships is fewer specialty dining choices. We have sailed on Millie 7 times and Edge Once (once to many) but it's nice that X has 3 generations of Ships so there is something for everyone's taste?
  2. It has been my experience that even though I Paid More for a "Small Group" excursion we were at the same places as the less expensive Regular excursion group and the benefit of paying More was negligible. If the " Small Group" and Regular size excursions are on the same route I did not see any reason to have paid more. Some excursions billed as Captains Club special were excellent.
  3. Not the Cruise booking but all the pre cruise goodies were %45 off . that happened on September 1st. 2023 i usually have 6 or 7 future cruises booked and all the excursions,WiFi and Pre cruise Specialty dining packages so suddenly seeing %45 off I just cancelled my bookings and Re Booked at the lower price. But you do have to check that the Item you want to Re-Book is available at the lower price Before you cancel the higher priced original booking
  4. He will See the Engine Control Room Never the Engine Room itself. Too Bad as being gearhead I would Love to get in there. If he likes getting close to Real Moving ships propulsion then have him Visit the SS Jeremiah O'brien in San Francisco. A Seaworthy, Operating 440 foot long WW II Liberty Ship maintained by a Volunteer Crew It's Giant triple Expansion Steam Engine is a mechanical work of Art in Motion and You can Stand 5 feet from the complex moving parts! The Ship Sails 4-5 times a year (2 days during Fleet Week in October) and on certain days of the month the Main Steam Engine is run while the ship stays tied to the Pier. Modern Ships have electric motors powered by Huge Diesel Engines or Diesel Generators or Steam Turbins that are all covered up and are not much to look at. If you saw the Movie Titanic you saw the Steam Engine of the SS Jeremiah Obrien. Google this www.ssjeremiahobrien.org (not .com).
  5. Not Every sale. Earlier this year there was 3 day "FLASH" sale that covered excursions, dining packages, Wifi upgrades and DorND game cards, . I Re-booked everything for 6 future cruises and saved Thousands of $'s.
  6. At the same time I was on a TA aboard Reflection. We even docked together once or twice? My experience was so much more pleasant on Reflection! We made all 5 of our ports and I discovered Lawn Club Grill and was Very satisfied with all 3 meals I had there. 3 different menu items on 3 different nights and all (as well as the Service) were Outstanding. Too bad Reflection will be stuck in the Caribbean and no longer doing Westbound TA's.
  7. I was just on Reflection for a TA that included Halloween and there were many stateroom doors that were decorated in elaborate Halloween themes. also the usual Birthday and Anniversary decorations. I LIKE them all as most cruise ship hallways are so drab and boring. We will be on a Silversea cruise next May and I will Not bring any of my small frig. Magnets as my experience with high priced cruise lines has been that they seem to distill the Fun out of cruising in the name of Luxury and Cultural Enrichment.
  8. I was just on Reflection for a 14 day TA and my stateroom steward told me the pillow chocolates were back to Every Night. Now I was in a Concierge veranda stateroom so I do not know if that was only for certain staterooms on some ships or fleet wide.
  9. Just think there are people paid by X to juggle the numbers and Word the fine print to make a Special Offer look appealing? the modern version of 3 card Monty?
  10. I was just on Reflection for a 14 night TA and after doing 7 X cruises in the last 12 months the MDR menu was not very appealing. I ended up only eating in the MDR twice (once was prime rib!😘) and the rest of the time I found the OVC evening offering to be very good. I also did 7 nights (paid for pre-cruise) in the specialty restaurants and discovered Lawn Club Grill is my new Favorite Restaurant ! I ate there 3 different nights and tried 3 different things and they were All excellent.
  11. I will be on Connie next year for the TA that ends just before the Drydocking. I was told when I was onboard last May that the TV’s would be changed during the 2024 drydocking. I guess we will find out?
  12. People who do Not complete their safety video and assembly station check in Still get their Names called out on the PA system on ships I have been on . Kind of the X version of The walk of shame?😏
  13. You are correct about going to check In but they no longer give you the SeaPass room keys(cards) there. once Onboard you are free to go anywhere on the ship Including your Stateroom. Your SeaPass/room key cards will be There by the door in a sealed envelope. there may be a notice On the door that your steward in Not finished Cleaning but you can enter and leave things in your stateroom that you carried on with you. You can also use the Safe. As you do no have access to the App on a phone be sure to watch the safety video on the stateroom TV.
  14. That’s what I do! I usually get to the terminal about 10:30am and have always been Onboard by 11:30-12pm. I am not a Suite guest or Zenith level.
  15. Viking Does not have Casinos. Thats a non starter for my Wife who also loves casinos.
  16. They said no phones so they will have to watch the safety video on their cabin TV. as for the 1:30-2pm boarding time. it has been My experience in many post Covid X cruises that is primarily to keep small terminals from being crowded and was probably to help putting a lot of people in a confined area? My experience has to get to the terminal at 10:30-11am and check in. I have never had to wait till the listed boarding time. Today I boarded Reflection In Barcelona arriving at the terminal at 10:30 an I was onboard at 11:25am with a listed boarding time of 12:00-12:30. I an not Zenith level or a suite guest. You can go directly to your stateroom and you will find your sea pass/room keys in a sealed envelope at your stateroom door. You can drop any carry on bags and use the safe But there will be a notice that the attendant may not be finished cleaning. After watching the safety Video then go to the muster station and check in. welcome Back to Traveling/Cruising!
  17. I arrived at the terminal at 10:30 this morning and checked in. I was Onboard at 11:25 and my official check in time was 12:00-12:30. I am not a suite guest or Zenith. Just Elite+. the whole process went as smoothly as it normally does with Celebrity. 😘
  18. I Should stop reading this stuff. I never knew Food could be so complicated? My parents survived the Great Depression after 1929 AND WW II food rationing and I grew up in the 1940’s and have been so misinformed all these years I just enjoy anything I Don’t have to cook or clean up after!
  19. I even had an Australia customs officer once tell me directly that he could care less about the ETA I took the time to print out and present to Him. just another form of tourist tax he said as he dismissed my ETA
  20. I should get me Car dry docked if they can make it look that good?
  21. I hope you will post here after your Jan.-Feb. Summit Cruises. Let us know what YOU see and Experience about the "Recent Changes" We tried 3 other cruise lines this year (and 5 on Celebrity) and found what we liked most about Celebrity was Still there. 2 of the other cruise lines cost a Lot more and offered less of what we like about Celebrity. YMMV..............
  22. Wow! Is that a Present Photo? Never seen a 6 year old ship look That clean. Maybe that's a New Build photo?
  23. This brings up that anyone Quarantined to a Stateroom during the worst of Covid must have gone buggy watching the few shows on TV?
