  1. We drive Felix our Forester.  I name most of our cars, some names have been better than others.  My best name was of the great white Mercedes sedan DH had for a while.  MobyNick.

@aliaschief, I can’t recall if you’ve ever done a Scenic cruise before.  If not, you will love it!  We’ve done two, and both were exceptional.

Strength for everyone working to recover from hurricane destruction.

    My best ~~

  2. @kplady, wishing you an unbelievably happy retirement!  Sweet freedom and not dealing with an alarm clock every day are precious things.

@Cruzin Terri, so glad things are aligning so your richly-deserved trip can happen. Have a wonderful relaxing time.

@dfish, nice upsell for you to make your cruise just a little sweeter!

@rafinmd, please include me with the 10/8 Nieuw Statendam group. I don’t want to miss the boat!  😀😉

    Best to everyone

It doesn't matter to me if ports have to be substituted.  I'll be onboard a BHB with my Daily family so all will be well.  Nothing to complain about given the plight of so many others right now.

Thank you Jacqui and everyone. Debbie’s comment on possible port substitution is right in every way. So excited to return to Canada, and of course our BHB!

  4. I was DESPERATE for a cut on our March cruise, and it was literally the best cut I ever had.  The stylist told me about every product he used.  At the end of the session, I told him I wanted to live with it for the duration of the cruise (2 weeks), then I would come back and talk to him again.  Which I did.  Then I told him I wasn’t going to spend $200 on hair products, but what did he think was the single most important.  We had a very good conversation, I bought a couple of items, and tipped him for taking another 20 minutes to talk with me.  He was also good enough to tell me some details about the cut for me to tell my home stylist, so 6 months later I’m still a happy customer!

  5. Hello Everyone,

All our Floridians are in my thoughts.  I’m watching Weather Channel right now, and it looks as rough as any of seen.  Stay safe, stay smart.

@dfish, so happy for you and your sister!  The house looks so nice, and a great yard as well.  I’m looking forward to celebrating with you when we meet on that BHB.

@kazu, I expect you realize that this is not the best forum to get an unbiased opinion regarding cruising.  Put my vote in the column that says a holiday cruise is a wonderful thing.

@Cruzin Terri, my heart aches for you.

My best to our Dailyite family.

  6. @TiogaCruiser, Oh yeah on Cantore.  We have family in coastal NC, and when Jim shows up at Wrightsville Beach, you can bet there’s going to be a storm.

@smitty34877, thank you so much for letting us know about Camilla’s dad, what a relief!  Eternal Father, Strong to Save - I do love the Navy Hymn.

@marshhawk, your idea of a rotisserie bed is a good one!  My right hip particularly likes it.

O Canada, so sorry for the misery visited on you by Fiona.

Florida, may Ian decide to just be a meteorological fizzzle.

My very best to all my CC buddies.

  7. As always, @richwmn, thanks for the Days and maps.  I expect I am not the only one who got a little misty with the memories the quote brought of my wedding day.

We visited KSC several years ago on a land trip; our first stop at Port Canaveral is about 6 weeks away, and we are happy to return to the space center.

Our weather is still quite warm (low 90’s), but the humidity is markedly reduced.  This makes my world much more pleasant!

    Best to everyone ~~

  8. A couple of iconic Tulsa restaurants.

In the past year, one met the fate @marshhawkmentioned.  It was a family-owned white table cloth restaurant with good food and good service.  After about 52 years, it was sold to a local entrepreneur who has other restaurants in town.  They did some updating of the space, tweaked the menu, raised the prices —- and killed it.  We went once, and the previously delicious food was too salty to eat.  Our favorite server went to the kitchen to sample, and agreed with us. 😢

The other is a far happier story.  Nelson’s has been in business since 1929.  Currently there are 2nd - 4th generation members working there every day.  It’s a breakfast and lunch diner; food and menu essentially the same for the 40 years I’ve eaten there.  Yummy comfort food in a place that looks every inch a diner. Maybe we’ll have lunch there today!

I can picture an I Love Lucy episode of yesterday’s quartet of painters.  That would be a hoot!

Thanks everyone for caring and sharing ~~

  9. @ger_77, so sorry that both you and DH have the darned insidious virus!  Wishing all of you good rest and speedy recovery.

    @kazu, sending love and strength.

Thanks for all the beautiful pictures of Venice; we have enjoyed two wonderful stops there; an early morning sail in is among my favorite cruise memories.  A recommended book is City of Falling Angels by John Berendt.  He is also the author of Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil.  Falling Angels has to do with the fire that destroyed the old Fenice opera in 1996.

    Have a good Sunday~~
