My room steward on two occasions was a very nice lady from Montenegro and I would never have asked her to tote my luggage up the stairs.

Watch your step when you come down the stairs. The last step ends on a landing one step above the floor. If you’re not paying attention, you think you’re on the floor but the next step is a drop off to the floor. I almost fell before realizing this and my wife did fall. Other than that and straining my back lugging the suitcases upstairs, the cabin was awesome. See pic:

The task of straightening a prop blade under water puzzles me. I’d think they’d need heat and or a die to get the prop back in alignment. Are the blades removable separately? I thought it was one solid unit.

I think I read somewhere that it happened in Cuban waters and they chose not to even search for him.

I have to think that the rumors of it hitting ice are probably accurate. This late in the season, the tops of some small bergs have melted away and there could be some very large hunks lurking right under the surface. Some have said they heard and felt a bang when it happened so it makes sense to me.

Speaking from panicked experience, it happened to me a couple of months ago at Galveston. It was a madhouse out front and I rolled my three pieces of luggage up from the parking lot. There was a porter there by the shuttle buses loading luggage on a cart and I rolled mine over to him. I realized that my tip money was in the pouch I keep our passports in and started digging for it to get a tip out. I turned around and he was gone. Fast forward to that evening. My biggest suitcase with “everything” in it never showed up. I spent the whole evening in a panic trying to find it. Naughty room, guest services, stewards and security searching and finally they called me about 9 PM saying they might have found it. I use the clear plastic tag holders on all luggage. When they found it, it had a porter’s tag with a random cabin number on it for another deck and all that was left of my tag holder was the steel cable and the eye the sleeve had been on. I don’t think it’s just a coincidence that this happened the only time I didn’t tip a porter.

I’m thinking they drastically reduced the staff in the special needs dept after restart. Before that, responses were pretty immediate and fulfilled. Nowadays it’s a crapshoot as has been mentioned above.

I know what is in the crab cakes. The statement was tongue in cheek. Why don’t they call it surimi cakes and stop lying to us. They don’t put walnuts in a pecan pie……

I’ve found that if you find one of the Chops/Giovanni’s employees on the first day walking around soliciting, they’re usually more than willing to sell you a BOGO for any night you want because they’re wanting to look good for making sales. This has always worked for me. YMMV.

Yummy? Let’s see. Duck a l’orange? - nope, they don’t serve it anymore. Lamb Chops? - nope, they only serve skimpy lamb shanks now. Crab cakes? - crab meat is not rubbery is it? What’s in there? Caribbean Pork Chops - oh waiter, would you sharpen this steak knife? Mexican night - is this skirt steak? Did they skin the bull first? Could I get cheese cake for dessert? Oh, not tonight? I could go on…..
