It seems to me that Royal is trying to change its clientele to younger families (thus only new amusement park ships) who are ignorant to how cruising used to be (what us seasoned cruisers are accustomed to and have come to expect). They say you don’t miss what you never had. Maybe they’re trying to run off all the old farts that are sucking up 4, 5, 6 drinks a day and not spending money like a couple with a gaggle of kids do. Maybe the bean counters are saying “How do we get rid of all that dead weight at the top”. Maybe it’s remorse over the double point fiasco that promoted thousands to P, D+ and D. If so, I think it’s working.

I find them somewhat annoying and would really prefer they not bother. They usually just fall apart when you have to move them off the bed anyway. Maybe if they want to save time, they could have the stewards stop making them and spend that time servicing our cabins twice a day like they used to.

I agree with the thought that charging for pizza might cost them more money in the long run. Rather than grabbing a quick free slice or two, if they’re charging, a lot of people would just run up to the WJ and grab a hamburger, a plate full of fries, two pieces of chicken and three of the bland desserts instead.

I didn’t hear anything about adding to the port.

Out of curiosity, I was looking at the President’s cruise next year. Outrageous prices. $4770 pp for a JS. $10k for 7 days in a JS? And that’s not including airfare. Maybe there are people dumb enough to pay these prices, but I’m not one of them.

And the best chance at picking a screaming case of Covid from all the snot wiping tong grabbers. I’m sure that’s where I got Covid on Allure three weeks ago.

For the water show. There are red and green lights to let the divers know when it’s safe to dive.

I’d do it, but doubt minimum bid will get it.

I don’t believe I saw anyone say they’d stop sailing RCL based solely on a charge for pizza. There is an accumulation of many cuts in service and quality in concert with a ridiculous increase in prices as well as any other ways they can “enhance” cruiser’s experiences that are souring the desire to cruise for many including myself. At the top tier meeting with Bayley and the other bigwigs on the President’s Cruise, just about every question/suggestion was jokingly answered with the reply “We’ll have to run the numbers”. It’s obvious that they’ve been “running the numbers” 24/7 and the joke’s on us…

Royal seems to be trying really hard to ruin their business. Between watered down meals, reduced cabin service, cutting most specialty dining food servings in half and all their other cutbacks, I’m about done with Royal. I’ve got one more cruise booked (Panama Canal in Oct) and I think it will be my last. (I know - nobody cares - just sayin).

Seems like when we went, the train ride was $40 more than the bus. Worth every extra penny.

We booked the train from Anchorage to Seward through Royal. It left from the airport and ended only a few steps from the ship.

How many sand beaches do you need to see? Do Alaska…

The sniffing? I think she was trying to get that last bit of blow all the way up. The backup singers did all the singing and she just finished the song with a scream at the end.

I’m on the president’s cruise right now. Just seems like a regular cruise to me with a lot of added hype. Lots of pinnacles but I haven’t noticed an overwhelming presence. I assume they’ve got their own venues for the most part. I’ve noticed no snobbery. I know quite a few Ps and have mostly just caught a glimpse or two of a lot of them. Pinnacles and D+ got two Moët Champagne parties which were nice. Oh yeah, Chaka Kahn sucked. Lots of bickering about it on FB when people say it sucked and the Chaka fans defending her. They bought out the entire port at Costa Maya with food and open bar but the heat was unbearable. And don’t forget to get one of the new Royal Bling chain necklaces for only $38k.

I’m on Allure now as well and one thing that I find humorous is the butter rationing. The metal tin on your table used to be crammed full of butter pats. Now the max seems to be 3. And if you use those you have to ask for more. They begrudgingly take the tin and bring it back with 2 more. Was there a problem with people stuffing their purses with butter??

Most shows are done twice the same night to accommodate everyone. No reservations needed.

Maybe it was because of time zones. EST vs PST. You can’t make reservations online with the UDP anyway. You have to make them once onboard.
