  1. Generally, there is no news until something happens at literally the last minute. I would imagine that a postponement would mean they are close but not quite at a settlement and think that they can get there. Keep us all updated at what happens at the deadline.
  2. Interesting thought, and maybe that would work for me, buwt DW is an art teacher and would want the full experience.
  3. For us, actually I love the trivia. DW will be at the pool trying to swim laps.
  4. On our first trip to Amsterdam, we saw both, but the answer would have been Van Gogh as there were renovations going on in the Riksjmusuem and not much of it was available. On our next trip the answer was the Riksjmuseum as the line to Van Gogh was just way too long. I asked my wife who is an art teacher, and she just shrugged. You cannot go wrong with either choice.
  5. Yes, but that too would not be known until literally the last minute.
  6. Generally in potential strike situations, there is no news until literally the last minute. And then it is either settled or the strike is on.
  7. Wow, the cruise lines sure do not advertise that their ships routinely hit things.
  8. And casinos in NY state are smoke free. None have been going broke because of that.
  9. I don't specifically remember if it was Carnival or a different cruise line, but I do remember having to walk through the horrible smoke to get to the main dining room. Just a terrible design choice! 😢
  10. How many ships have you been on as chief engineer and have had the ship hit something to the point where it was needed to check for how bad the damage was? Your post sure sounds like it comes with that experience.
  11. That is a nasty reality that I think even the most ardent Carnival "cheerleader" would have a problem defending.
  12. Let us hope you are correct and the damage, if any, is minimal.
  13. That is different from not caring. To be precise, I think you meant they don't care about what type of id as long as it meets requirements. Your original post seemed to imply they did not care at all as long as there was some type of id without mentioning it still had to meet certain standards.
  14. I was going to give this post a Ha Ha, and it is funny, but it is really not funny if you catch my drift (pun not intended). Or having noticed that the quoted poster is from the UK, maybe this is the dry British humor (humour) I read about in a thread in another cc forum. 🤣
  15. If you take the free at sea perks, the tips are charged to you in advance. If you don't use any or all of your special dining, they still stay as a charge. Same thing with the drink package if you do not take the maximum amount of drinks.
  16. Good for you; I do think that they really do not believe the customers who say they will not come back. If more followed through on those threats, just maybe they would begin to notice and change accordingly.
  17. OK, thanks good to know if we are ever in that situation again.
  18. Thanks for that information; we were never told they could be cancelled.
  19. I never thought of that, but then I saw the next post and wondered if it would really work that way.
  20. Yes, well before Covid we were upgrade to a cabin below a bar. Our TA could not get us our original cabin back, but at least finally got us out of that cabin and near to where we had originally been booked. I noticed it on the personalizer. Our TA did not know until I informed him. He was supposed to get an e-mail alert from Princess, but says he never received it. They say they sent it. Possibly if it had been discovered by me and alerted to our TA earlier, we could have been given our cabin back. But they did lie; Princess claimed the cabin was not in service, but when I asked our steward about the cabin he told me it was occupied.
  21. And to add to that, 100 is also the maximum as having more than 100 does not get you any extra OBC.
  22. Are you really saying Carnival bears no responsibility for protecting your personal data because IT is not their main business?
  23. I forget the exact date, but it has been approved until a date in 2023. You will have to wait until it is approved again at a stockholders' meeting with a date past June of 2024.
  24. The transfers were mandatory on the NCL Prima cruise we booked for next summer. However, this may be an exception since you fly into London, but the ship departs from Southampton.
  25. The only question in my mind when I did the same with HAL was what would happen if we did not use the entire amount, especially as it was not the only OBC we had. I knew it was refundable, but I wondered if AMEX would claw back the credit. But then DW wanted the most expensive excursion for Anne of Green Gables, and my worries of not spending all of it were gone! 🤣
