  1. If undesirable (your and my view might be significantly different) means that at a fairly close in time a cabin that was booked is no longer booked and they re-offer it to people (there is no obligation AT ALL) then so be it. Your thought that is was better before is hard for me to comprehend, how could that be? If it means they do not have to significantly discount cabins to sell them, well…… I would agree, but we are better off for that being the case.
  2. Perception is in the eye of the beholder…. There is always a reason as to why that cabin is available to be offered. While I do not disagree with you or your logic, for some, a higher floor is in fact desirable.
  3. We all know the reason for decline (poor choice of words) in quality. The travel industry is trying to recover from the hardest hit (specifically cruise lines) in history. My view is to give them leeway on all fronts, but that is just me.
  4. Interesting topic. Without a doubt, for some (and this includes us the vast majority of time) these upgrade offers are not particularly enticing. That said, for the majority, they offer options on a potentially different type of a cabin, at a reasonable price. I would estimate that half of our clients grab the offer (if still available) when we bring it to their attention. As I have said many times, options are a good thing.
  5. I would agree that NCL has a different plan than CCL. I would also agree that CCL does not want to sail from SJ (in my view it is not a competition, but whatever). I am sure there are many variables into each lines decisions on home ports. It is a statement on NCL’s part, how it pays off and for how long she sails from there, we have to wait and see.
  6. He always had me checking it our at bars on our cruises (to see of they had it). That said, he found it posted somewhere and asked me to confirm and we did on our last MG cruise.
  7. Shaq’s is another good free food alternative. Excel class ships offer a myriad of food options, including street eats. Not worth discussing further, but we would have given am edge in MDR food at Carnival over Celebrity (service is another story).
  8. No slight intended, but another post that emphasized why it is a great reason to use a TA or PVP. They can significantly help you from blindly bumping into potholes and bridge abutments, their knowledge and expertise are free, foolish not to use them (and I do not mean things like big box booking tools). Here is another tip, it is almost ALWAYS a better ide to book early vs late, especially tied to holiday sailings. Good luck
  9. We are cruising on the Celebration in August with a pretty large group that includes one of our daughters and her family. Her husband LOVES Blanton’s and will spend a good amount of time in P&A for that reason.
  10. I would add another couple comments to support this post. Dress code wise, (and we have done a few including ones across the pond, north and south) we have seen no difference at all in dress code (slight caveat for Greenland cruise, but that was tied to where we were going). We have done 4 longer cruises and found they vary the menu significantly, with the additions of new things and some variations. Not so much cuisine tied to the locale but more from my viewpoint of just trying to mix it up. If you are considering going east…..go for it
  11. Also, only in some locations (as example Red Frog)
  12. Not sure I understand the specifics tied to your question. We used a private service (trying to find the name) that was really flexible with us as a small group (5, and I am sure they would do any size) that we had with someone who was mobility challenged. If interesed, I can try and dig further.
  13. I asked several friends I have in the company for the reason ( we enjoyed cruising from there as a homeport as well). Not sure there is one answer but several factors. Multiple homeport (San Juan and Barbados for European travelers), capacity concerns, and more. Their decision to use older ships (port intensive itins made the ship less important added to it as well. would love to see them go to a staggered seasonal schedule with a varied itinerary; With its location, it could open the doorway to new (to Carnival) and different places. Hope springs eternal.
  14. Verizon used to be very superior (imho) and we still have them, but agree with your assessment of their coverage plan. Seems when they to 5g they gave up on coverage, esp locally. Your analogy rings true.
  15. There have been times that I thought I lost some time on cruises…..🫠
  16. Ken is simply the best. I am sure if you asked him when he will be on the ship on his FB site, he will reply.
  17. On our most recent cruise on the MG, it ws the dining hit for the group
  18. And it will not change from that, despite claims to the contrary
  19. Loving the review and your rating system. LOVE the cranberry rolls.
