  1. My DW tried for about a month and finally got everything done in 20 minutes. . . She called Princess and they filled in the documents. Gave her an email to send a pic of our passports. No need to tilt windmills!
  2. It was different almost every night. Thus we brought a light sweater. Temps varied from area to area. Warmer in the balcony.
  3. Other than our travel summary and passport - we just show up. If a transfer by Princess we just find where they are gathering and give them our names. If not on the list, show our itinerary Luggage we just provide our cabin number from our itinerary and have it tagged at the curb. Checking in - same thing. Show our itinerary and ID. Get our Medallion and board. FWIW, we do NOT print anything. We archive the email, download the attachments and forward the Princess emails to ourselves so stored in multiple places.
  4. The ship is not always on local time when off Baja California. The reason is some days you cross back and forth the time zone line. The ship's daily will tell you what to do. You are over a year till your cruise. Great to plan, but be aware things can and will change. On our Panama Canal cruise we had changes in port times, port stops, shore excursions, and dining times. Just go with the flow and ask your questions on your Roll Call.
  5. The app from my phone works about 75% of the time. Frequent crashes. Very unstable. Has been the same for over a year. The web version is better on my phone, but difficult visually. I gave up using my PC. Hopeless IMO.
  6. Are you aware that 3mps is what you will get on a TA on pretty much all cruise ships. Starlink has reduced bandwidth.
  7. Absolutely agree that food quality have gone down significantly. X just like people everywhere is trying to control food expenses. The good ol days are gone. As for criticism, on our recent cruises there were a HUGE number of first time cruisers. They were pretty happy. Also I note after cruising with HAL and Princess recently. Their food quality and selection has gone down as well. Will a bunch of long time cruisers leave Celebrity? Probably, but the problems are the same in all mainstream cruiselines. Thus maybe they will stop cruising. Sorry
  8. Really? Hard to believe that ships can be outside the US for up to 9 months and all proteins are carried on board for so many months.
  9. You don't need to do anything. Your booking papers will show AI. Gratuities are charged to your folio each day. If you have AI they will then be reversed (credited). Makes total sense. That is necessary to move the gratuity money into the account that goes to the workers. The charge and the credit result in a net ZERO
  10. And if in the EU you do not get blocked from a bunch of USA sites using a VP N
  11. Last cruise they started checkin at 10:30 and boarding at 11am. Suite guests had their own section. Nobody looked at or checked to see what time we were supposed to check in. Was on board by 11:30.
  12. Nothing maybe about cramped with 4. Many regular veranda cabins can "accommodate " 4 people. 2 on either the fold out couch or a "lovely" bed that drops down from the ceiling. Created for real togetherness!
  13. Always remember that the Celebrity IT team has received several amazing awards recently including both the Rubber Chicken and Impossible Dream awards. You always know that things will be consistently frustrating, a bit late, or get a message to try back later. Relax and know you will get checked it.
  14. Possibly stored till the end of the cruise. We have had varied experiences. Sometimes we simply took the wine to our cabin. So you never know. Have also not been allowed to take more than the 2 bottle allowance. The other two we had were returned on the last night of the cruise. Good luck.
  15. Absolutely agree. Short staffed and lower food quality are thing we observed with Celebrity, Princess and HAL. Simply put things have changed from "the good old days". As Jeremiah said, also remember cruise reviews are often reviewed. Two of mine were rejected as well. I assume over critical comments.
  16. Am confused. You asked your RA to cancel on Sunday. First thing Monday they cancelled. Later Monday the rules changed. I am sorry. Do offer a suggestion that you ask your TA if they would plead your case with X. Kathy - cwaj cancelled when X was not offering anything. However, the 85% if strange - different from what anyone else reported.
  17. Do I know how ship insurance works? I know that insurers can restrict where ships can go and rates are dependent on risk. Going through a war zone would entail higher risk. On the ocean a war zone typically extends some miles out to sea. Alexandra is quite close to Gaza. Of course ships and cargo go through the Suez Canal. Any restrictions? I do not know, but think that is why the US is moving a Navy task force to the area. That makes me think - not a good place for a cruise ship. Cruise ships are very different from cargo ships in their risk tolerance. Gaza borders Egypt and currently that is the only exit open.
  18. Other than Israeli tourists shot and killed on the street in Alexandria Egypt. The issue as said will be if ships can get insurance to transit the war zone that includes the Nile Delta
  19. Celebrity as said will punch a hole.
  20. Not exactly, but we took an Antarctic/Falkland Islands cruise and because of bad weather never saw either place. Simply sailed around and around and around.
  21. Remember what happened in 2020? Cruiselines are trying to make money. We need to (sadly) either accept the new situation or vacation in a different way.
  22. Asked many times. Short of doing a mock booking for each class of cabin no. One UK company has the capability to do a "Scanner" for cabins. But even that site cannot sort cabins in a group block that are sold vs. unsold. A US large TA has a slightly more cumbersome website. Pretty much I look to see if my company still has group block cabins available and can see how they are booking. Then at final.payment date you can see how many cancelled their bookings - often 10%+. If prices then drop bookings are down. Last, today demand is very high. Especially for cruises that vary from the usual week in the Caribbean or Alaska.
  23. Location and sometimes small differences in size of balcony and/or csbin
  24. Two important things to remember. Isreal closed its waters immediately following the attack. Egypt is not at war with anyone but the Seas around the Nile Delta are in what Lloyd's of London would call a "war zone". Pretty much anything within a couple hundred miles of Israel would be an exclusion zone for cruise ships etc. That likely covers any required refunds, even to UK passengers. And, I agree Celebrity should allow for at least a price reduction or for people to cancel.
