  1. @Oxymoron Those captures are from the other video I saw, thanks for grabbing them. Both videos showed it wasn’t upside down and didn’t need to be flipped.
  2. I was going to post the video to clear up a few posts in this thread but it was taken by a guy who works for a consulting firm. There is a copyright on the video and an email for media requests for access to his video, so I can't even copy it if I wanted as it is locked.
  3. The ships are sailing at full capacity and have been for a while. There was no need to flip the boat over as you say they did as the lifeboat did not flip over. The lifeboat does hit the side of the boat as it landed in the water and a couple more times as it floated down the length of the ship. The two other lifeboats that were being prepared for tendering had their davits extended while the lifeboat that falls only had the davits partially moved which is why the lifeboat hit the deck as it falls and then the side of the ship.
  4. I think OB is asking about The Book on Odyssey though and people are talking about The Gift on Anthem. I have seen the original The Gift and the newer, revised The Gift on Anthem and the improved version is a lot easier to understand since the narrator basically tells you the entire story. I am not sure if The Book is the same as The Gift.
  5. I searched "Quantum of the Seas lifeboat incident" on another social media site.
  6. It is actually right side up. The other video is twice as long and shows more. Someone curses in the video, so I am not going to post it here as it might just get deleted.
  7. I wish the baby and mother the best. As far as policy, they do not require a doctors note, so they take people at their word. I do know we were at a muster years ago beside a woman who was very pregnant. Someone asked her when she was due and she didn't answer but her Mom who was traveling with her said in 8 weeks! 😱 We saw this same woman up on the pool deck smoking a cigarette. 😲
  8. We don't know if it was during training or not. I just saw a second video from a different angle that shows three lifeboats being readied and this one drops. There is also a report stating that they were getting ready to tender into Mystery Island.
  9. The bear doesn't have a floatie on like Gigi does though, he might sink!
  10. That newer style is smaller and was not as insulated as the older cups.
  11. We did Quantum in May and we docked at 1pm and then had issues with our rental, so we were behind schedule. We were only in port until 9pm, which was a good amount of time but didn't want to get stuck with our rental car company closing early. We did Radiance in 2018 and we were in port 8 to 6 or something like that. Those hours just worked out better for us. Both times we docked at AS which is the Alaska Steam Dock right in downtown Juneau. I know last season one of the ships was at the AJ dock at times that is the farthest away.
  12. It depends on the ship. Here is the schedule of Alaska ports and berths. https://claalaska.com/?page_id=1250 Edit: looks like berths aren't assigned yet. They will update that link as it gets closer to the season.
  13. We do Steep Creek trail which is off the parking lot. It is closed a lot due to activity since a lot of it is raised boardwalk over some water and the bear like to go after the salmon. We have seen a couple of park rangers down that trail who were showing people porcupine up a tree. They had some needles to show you and talked about their habits. We go out on the photo point trail to get some good pictures. We do Nugget Falls Trail but there is a point that it breaks off the paved part and you can go along the water. Depending on the snow melt, there are two points that you have to cross water on well placed rocks. We have seen some really cool, big bear prints and scratchings from where bear have been digging. There can be a ranger down along there too, pointing out the arctic tern nests along the beach and anything else interesting in the area. It can be a little muddy and wet in areas but we have waterproof low hiking boots, so we like going off into the less crowded paths along the way. The Trail of Time is supposed to be nice but we didn't get to that this year. It goes higher up along the hill.
  14. To add to this, US citizens only need birth certificates and a picture ID (if 16 and up) if they are sailing on a closed loop cruise originating in a US port. We would need passports too for a closed loop sailing from Vancouver.
  15. Mendenhall Glacier is easy to do on your own. Depending on how many total you are, I would either rent a van or try to get a private tour just for your group. We have rented a car both times we have gone to Juneau. It really gave us lots of flexibility to go where we wanted to go and stay as long or as little as we wanted. We are usually at Mendenhall around 3 hours as we like to go out to Nugget Falls and do a few of the other trails. Most excursions give you about an hour and a half there. Unfortunately, a few of the rental agencies did not survive covid, so the Budget office we used the first time we were there is gone. We rented from a local company this past May and they decided last minute not to open their office near the ships and were only operating from somewhere near the airport. They ran a shuttle but not at the times they told us they would. They were nice people but did not deliver as promised and we would not use them again. The Blue Buses operate roundtrips to Mendenhall but I think they are about $45 roundtrip. That would add up if you are a big group. I would check out Evergreen Taxi. They do private tours and are a good choice with a group.
  16. They definitely had chips in Park Cafe on the October 9th sailing of Oasis. Beef was ready when they opened on boarding day too.
  17. The towel they are asking about is the one you can buy from gifts and gear. That is not the C&A amenity towel.
  18. We did 4B then southbound Radiance cruise. We flew into Anchorage two days before our cruisetour and rented a car. We did a two day DIY tour of the area, including driving down the Seward highway along Turnagain Arm, stopping at many overlooks, waterfalls and even a bird sanctuary along the way. There is a app with mile markers that helps you know where to stop. We then flew the morning of our tour to Fairbanks to start our tour. We also added a couple of days in Vancouver after the cruise since we love that city.
  19. I wouldn't pay $34.99 for it. The one I saw someone with looked better than the free ones you get as C&A gifts, so that is something.
  20. Not sure what you mean by "buy" seats for shows. I know it is a typo but not sure what you were trying to say. 🙂 There is a reserved section of seats in shows that you will see a crew member monitoring. It is for those in grand suites and up, diamond +, pinnacle, and key. Junior suites do not have access to that section.
  21. Yes, there is a copy of the letter posted. I think that is petty, especially for Voom. Just expend it for free as they have done in the past.
  22. LOL Read your posts I quoted. One has you sitting at the airport when you heard of the cancel, the other has you getting in your car to go to the airport. Carry on....
  23. Okay, you have now lost all credibility. You really need to get your story straight.
