  1. We’ve sailed in two of these cabins. Once on the Caribe deck and the second on Dolphin. The Dolphin deck balconies are very large. I mean it is gigantic, but it seems to me the interior was smaller. Given a choice, I would go with Caribe as the balcony was great and the room seemed bigger. However, the cabins on Riviera are near the suite lounge, a real perk, since Princess, unlike other lines, doesn’t have coffee machines in the cabins. We've also sailed in a penthouse suite across from the lounge; easy to get coffee (and other things) anytime. The concierge has a desk in the lounge, very helpful. The aft suites are wonderful. It’s what best fits your needs. Enjoy.
  2. Princess policy: Hi, I am bringing this thread up again as we have a member of our party that uses one for pain and leg pain relief. Wondering about current policy. What is the status: is Princess allowing the heating pads for medical purposes? Should they contact guest services as noted above? obtain a physician note? automatic shutoff? pack in the original box? pack any extension cord (no surge protector) in the original box? If not allowed, how do they “declare” a hearing pad when boarding? Last question is due to spending a week traveling before boarding the ship. Thanks for the alternative suggestions. ty
  3. Thanks for your review. We are looking at a similar cruise for 2024. So we are kinda following some of this years cruises. Did you visit all the planned ports? Were any of the ports cancelled? Princess(also looking at them) had several ports cancelled, some before; and some during the cruise.
  4. Just remember that US credit cards don’t offer the same chip and pin technology. If you have a pin for your credit card it is mostly likely to obtain a cash advance from an ATM. The places you may have issues are unmanned kiosks, and places like the ones @hallasm mentions. Examples include: train stations and the public pay toilets. Haven’t tried Apple Pay but will next month.
  5. It can be confusing for the receiver. I’m not sure about FedEx, but UPS does work with USPS though a program known as UPS Mail innovations. UPS picks up, processes and ships an item to your local post office; who then completes the final delivery to your home/mailbox. I receive packages this way all the time. It was very confusing the first time this happened to me, especially UPS vs USPS. Some Amazon deliveries happen this way. https://www.ups.com/us/en/supplychain/solutions/mail-innovations.page
  6. Maybe ask your question on the Australia/ New Zealand Cruisers forum as well. Very helpful folks there. Many seem to cruise with Princess, so may know specifically about transportation in Brisbane. https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/48-australia-amp-new-zealand/
  7. Ok thanks. First time one the Island for us. Agree the suite lounges are very nice. Do you go to the elite lounge for drinks? More interested in the non alcoholic stuff. Coffee, soft drinks. How does the priority tender boarding work? No concierge: is there another person to handle requests? TIA
  8. Hi are u in a suite? You wrote on another thread that you miss the suite lounge. If so, I have a few questions. We Get on in July. TIA
  9. So here is the FAQs about the GCs. About halfway down the page the document states the GC will be converted to the currency used onboard at the exchange rate posted at the Passenger Service Desk. Agree the rate will not be good, and will not be the “actual” rate. https://www.princess.com/learn/cruise-gifts-celebrations/overview/gift-cards/faqs/#:~:text=A%3A Princess Cruises Gift Cards will be redeemable onboard Princess,at the Passenger Services Desk.
  10. There was a post /thread about this maybe a month ago? The poster reported he/she had learned a painful lesson and the gift cards lost their value. It may be somewhere in this thread or the second one about the GCs. Or it may of been a separate thread. Maybe that poster will reply here. Use caution with this. Smart move to investigate before purchasing to use as OBC for Australia/New Zealand cruises.
  11. Did yiu post this on your roll call? . We are using Arctic Shore Excursions. Our tour sold out in a few days for a July sailing. They offer private ones if you can get folks from your roll cal to join.
  12. It is confusing. You don’t need to join AARP, but you do need to join “AARP Rewards”, which is free.
  13. Thanks, we haven’t paid anything. I actually arranged it. We pay on that day(DKK). Also am thinking to ask the company (Dantaxi) if we can run two different charges. I know cash is rarely used in Denmark.
  14. What currency does the ship use? Is it the $ or the £? We are sharing a taxi tour with some folks from Canada. We are US. So trying to decide how to pay our half.
  15. Yea, maybe that’s it. We only have Grundarfjoudur as a tender.
  16. While researching for our July 2023 trip on the Island to Iceland, I found that with a true private tour; meaning an entire vehicle and staff were rented by one group; cancellation policies and penalties differ. I also found this true in other countries (Baltic ports, UK&Ireland) in 2022. So I’m not surprised at the posters comments. OTOH, We were able reserved the non Princess tours which are open to all (but only book about 15-18 people). These tours filled up within two to three days of release in January. A good deal of those numbers are from the roll call. I found about 10 companies offering tours. The one exception was Seydisfjordur, with fewer options.
  17. Hi Rick, thanks for the updates. We are on the Island in July. We have Seydisfjordur as as a docked port. Was there another ship here? Could the dock be too small for the Sky?
  18. Good thread. We disembark in July. We will walk off with our luggage. Island Princess, 2200 passengers US citizens We arrive from Greenock (two days before) We scheduled the driver for 0800, is this reasonable? Ty
  19. Yep, we did. We were on the Enchanted in September. We missed three ports. Hurricane Fiona was responsible for Halifax and the other two were tender ports, Bar Harbor and Newport, earlier on the cruise. We are using the credit on our July cruise to Iceland. It was a significant savings. The wording matches our letter exactly, except for the details of the cruise. Keep that printed letter handy for future communications. My CVP could see it, but it gets a bit confusing when using the gift cards, other FCCs, etc. Also you don’t insure the goodwill credit, just like you only insure what you paid for the AARP rewards discount gift cards, not the face value. So another savings there. I have coverage outside of Princess, so don’t know how it’s handled if you purchase their insurance. Sorry you missed those ports.
  20. Congratulations. You will love the suite especially for all those sea days. We’ve never sailed on the Island, but have sailed in suites on the Royal and Enchanted. Sabatini’s for breakfast among the top perks. We also enjoy the laundry as we usually tour a week or so in advance of embarkation The room steward should arrive with the bubbly No special seating at shows ARAIK extended room service menu In cabin afternoon tea We chose Bayou Cafe as we love Cajun food. Here is the PDF with the perks. Interested to hear how things go as we are on the Island this summer in a suite. Please post. Enjoy your suite. https://www.princess.com/ships-and-experience/ships/products/staterooms/default-suite.html
  21. Thank you very much. Very helpful information. I am leaning towards the bike rental. I think it’s a wonderful way to get around. I Will share your comments with others,
  22. Hi everyone, we have a stop at Skagen in July. I have thought about the bike rentals, but not sure others in the group would be up for that. Does anyone know of a company or individual who provides a service or tour in this port? I found a company Cruiseskagen, but it seems they only work with cruise lines now. Nothing on the usual booking sites. Thanks in advance.
