After enjoying this past October the wonderful port with it's birds and animal displays at Cartagena we opted to go to the walled city on our own.
Taxi's were lined up (they speak English) and were dropped just near the main large walkway that leads to the walled city.
We enjoyed our time there very much and when we were ready to go back to the ship it was just as easy once we walked back to where we had been dropped off to get another taxi.
Cartagena was very easy to DIY and we're looking forward again to do this during our port stop next March 2024.
The one we use in Juneau is on Franklin Street a very tall public building on the right side of the street down way past the Red Dog Saloon . The restroom is on the 2nd or 3rd floor. This one is my go to there.
Welcome to Cruise Critic !!
Glad my thread has helped a bit. Please come back and let me know your thoughts on this hotel and where you might have eaten...also your transportation options and price point.
Oh my goodness...Now that was ridiculous not letting him bring it onboard. Was it in a backpack or purse? That's where we put our goodies to bring back on the ship.
Not happy about this either if true fleetwide. I always ask for cream or half/half for my tea. We were once brought those little k-cups in the OS from room service so from then on I asked for the real thing. Very sad as RCI continues to downgrade on the basics.
Price as a member vs valuetrips. Member does include breakfast. We've stayed at this Hyatt several times and it always pays to check the price point. At times the member rate has been less.
We've never had trouble bringing food onboard. Holy Donuts...yummy !!
We were behind a guy bringing his left over boxed pizza once...no one stopped him.
OS on Explorer has clothes line at the end of the tub and also has one in the shower.
We bring our own adapter for our USB needs. Plenty of outlets available.
Fast food or diner type. We'll be arriving early evening from a long flight and not interested in walking to something too far away... Only there for one night pre-cruise.
Thanks so much for responding.
Opt for one of RCI's larger ships that have splash area's and the Royal Babies-n-Tots Nursery. And request pack-n-plays, so book a cabin large enough for them. Family cabins are a great choice.
We've traveled as an extended family with under age two grandkids.
We've done the OS on Explorer a few times as recently as a B2B in March 2022 specifically in # 1320. Will be on her again in that cabin Feb 2024. For some reason we always pick the #1320 and we love it, No noise issues and a perfect location.
