  1. The ship had some maintenance problems which caused a couple of recent Christmas cruises to be cancelled (she is now sailing as Ambience for the new Ambassador Cruise line). On 18th December 2022, about four hours after 1400 passengers had embarked for a 3-day Christmas Markets cruise from London Tilbury, the ship's maintenance checks revealed a serious problem with the lifeboat station. The inspection noticed a slight movement of one of the sheaves used for guiding the steel wire ropes that move and hold the lifeboats in position. This brought to light a hairline crack on the bracket holding these sheaves in position, and more of these were found in a similar position on other brackets. Ambassador decided to cancel the cruise for safety reasons and all passengers were disembarked by 9:30 the following morning. Later, the subsequent 15-day Christmas and New Year cruise was also cancelled as the repairs could not to be done in Tilbury and Ambience was sent to a Bremerhaven shipyard.
  2. True, Sky Suites include a deluxe telescope on a tripod.
  3. No, not in mini-suites or full suites. You need to bring your own
  4. yes, assume the Piazza is that weird circular thing that appears on all those decks
  5. Agree, no laundromats currently. On P&O Iona they are placed just north of the mid-ship stairs and there is free white space there on the plans. Alfredos is on the list of food venues on the website and assuming it is on the Cruisemapper deck plans as "Pizzeria" with outdoor dining on deck 9 opposite the International Cafe. Cross-checked as a public venue on deck 9 in the Princess deck plans:
  6. I recall a post from SeaHag listing some extra dishes for breakfast and lunch too in the Club Class section
  7. 1) I believe the balcony is wider but not much deeper than a standard mini-suite balcony 2) You can only have a bath in the bathtub 3) The shower stall is very roomy 4) We love this type of cabin (for the huge bedroom as well as the suite perks) and have stayed in premium suites on decks 12 (Aloha) 11 (Baja) and 12 (Caribe). We would avoid deck 12 if we had a choice as there is an overhang above the balcony which felt a little oppressive. One Pro is the proximity to Sabatini's (for Suite breakfast) and The Sanctuary. One Con is they are at the other end of the ship to the wonderful Concierge Lounge. Here are some stateroom pictures from our cruises: The balcony furniture varies depending on the ship - these are the chairs we had on Regal Princess:
  8. You will receive a Suite guest welcome letter along with your concierge lounge access cards on embarkation day in your stateroom. Here was ours from Discovery Princess in late September this year:
  9. Ahh thanks. No we missed it by a few weeks as we did the Discovery coastal from Vancouver to LA in September and won't be doing a West Coast trip for a while now (the jet lag was awful lol!). Just interested to see how it might work.
  10. Is that the 360 experience? If so, would love to know how you got the invite since us Brits don't usually get phone calls from the Princess team in the US.
  11. Uh-oh. More chatter from another social site: - Someone on Sky Princess posted that the Captain Circle Hostess confirmed Captain Tuvo had jumped ship to MSC. - Someone else then contacted him and he is now on MSC Seaview!
  12. The hot desserts are also very nice in the buffet. I am fond of the bread and butter pudding and peach cobbler with custard. One of our trivia companions on Discovery Princess in September had an obsession with going up to the buffet each evening specifically to grab a hot dessert and would regale us with her findings and ratings at the next trivia game!
  13. Maybe this has been confused with Dino Sagani who was the original Majestic Princess captain? He did move to MSC
  14. I think Regal was based in the Med this summer but she definitely had kettles last year when based out of Southampton - most Princess ships do.
  15. We had Egg Drop Challenge on the Discovery Princess Pacific Coastal from Vancouver to LA in late September this year - they asked for passengers to sign up on the first sea day and the event was on the last sea day. Only one lady actually turned up with her parachute and egg basket but she did a fantastic job!
  16. The 360 phone call invitation method is a bit old school and sounds like something they organised on the fly maybe? I don't think it works for all suite passengers either. We were in a suite on Discovery and missed out on the trials by a month anyway but as an international passenger (from the UK) I doubt they would be phoning us directly the week before the cruise - in the same way they can't send us medallions by post!

She is lovely and great fun - had a good natter with her on the day she joined Discovery on our cruise at the end of September.
  18. Well it came back to Sky Princess recently! Here's a video from the round trip cruise from Southampton to New England/Canada in September/October. Sarah Vanderplank is the ACD leading the choir.
  19. No Princess aren't charging from the outset for 360 according to their press release - it's invite only if you are in a suite, book a future suite or are involved in VIP Casino gaming and retail event sailings. I would have thought this would still be the case on your NYE cruise if they aren't rolling out until late Jan on Enchanted.
  20. We have always managed to book our first night of suite speciality dining using Dine My Way on the app. It knows you are booked in a suite and won't display a charge. You can add also guests here using their booking number but never tried that for other suite passengers.
  21. There are no Med cruises from Southampton. There's a repositioning cruise departing from Barcelona on Sep 14 arriving in Southampton on Sep 22 and a Transatlantic departing from Southampton on Sep 23 All the itineraries up to the Transatlantic are in the attached SunPrincess.pdf
  22. Princess are meant to be launching the 360 immersive dining experience on Discovery Princess on your cruise - they have been having free trials in the last few weeks. So if that's of interest you may want to see if they can book you on it (could be a charge of $150pp). See this thread for more detail.
  23. Thank you for reporting back and what a treat to experience it first! We are simple eaters too so probably won't be trying this especially at that price!
