  1. As a single, I hope that my Norwegian Fjords sailing in June 2024 has lots of singles. It should make it easier to find dinner companionship.
  2. Why does that surprise you? Buying cash will always cost you more because the cash has to be handled. In addition, the credit card exchange will use a wholesale rate.
  3. I have seen that, but I'm not sure where to look for the bowtie. (I do see what it looks like in the legend, but I'm not sure where on that daily listing it goes. Is it up at the top with the day's description?) My cruise isn't until July of 2024 so I don't expect to see it yet, but I'm still not sure where to look.
  4. There are a number of different start locations, but as far as I know every route is a circle back to the start point. They are not a hop-on hop-off service.
  5. If you go to the first post in the thread and click on the 3 dots on the top right of the post, you can report it and ask to have the title corrected.
  6. We had between 20 and 30 cm last Friday night and into Saturday, including thundersnow which is thunder and lightning during a snowstorm. Despite a fair bit of melting (most days since have been above freezing), I was out this morning and there are huge mounds of snow on local streets. Spring is definitely not in a hurry to arrive.
  7. I did a tour of the Sydney Opera House which I found very enjoyable.
  8. I just got an email that Uniworld is waiving single supplements on the two 2023 mystery cruises, as well as the rerun of last year’s Salzburg and the Danube mystery cruise.
  9. The graph shows geomagnetically disturbed days, not aurora sightings.
  10. You do know that you can download maps in advance, at least on Google Maps. You still get directions available, although obviously current traffic reports won't be there.
  11. No, I don't really. That was kind of tongue in cheek. As an aside, I'm with Public Mobile and currently pay a total (including tax) of $44.07 every 30 days for unlimited North American calling, unlimited international text, and 500 MB of LTE data. I am off to the US shortly; their US roaming package is for 15 days (the only choice unfortunately but I am going to be away for 12 days so fine with me) for $30 plus tax for unlimited talk and text plus 3 GB data. In the past I have always used a foreign sim for travel; I now have a phone that will allow for eSim so I will try that for my next international trip, but nothing I have seen beats what my US roaming package will be.
  12. Yes, but you might think that our outrageous (I like your inadvertent? typo of outrages) domestic rates should be enough to support some roaming.
  13. The last time I took the train from Toronto to Montreal, and return, they looked at the size of the bag to decide whether they needed to be weighed. If your bag wasn't too big they didn't bother.
  14. @Lois Rstates that it will be her first time in Paris.
  15. ETIAS has been delayed again until 2024 (no specific date mentioned).
  16. ETIAS has been delayed until 2024 (no specific date announced yet).
  17. Actually, if you have a PIN, you really need to follow them. Americans are used to hitting enter until the slip comes up to be signed. However, if your card has a PIN it needs to be entered before that point or your transaction is rejected. It took me a few instances of having my transaction rejected to twig to this issue; now I tell them to slow down and give me the terminal to enter the PIN. (This was, I admit, pre-Covid and perhaps it has changed, but I doubt it.)
  18. Personally, I would go straight to Lucerne.
  19. I will say that this map is much better. However, the New York Times types are very common.
  20. I got one at age 65 when I went to Kenya and Tanzania. Tanzania requires one if coming from Kenya (which we were), and I didn't want to deal with trying to get an exemption. I had no issues with the shot.
  21. It always drives me crazy that American weather maps end at the border, as if we in Canada don't exist. Our weather maps always show at least parts of the US.
