  1. When you side load apps or download them from other than the Google Play store then you are taking a risk. Google spends large amounts of money to keep viruses and malicious apps out of Google Play. The third party app stores don’t have the same resources as Google. Certainly Royal Caribbean didn’t place their app in uptodown. So if you are downloading the version on uptodown the risk is all on you. I would consider downloading directly from an app’s developer but I would never download from an alternative App Store. Caveat Emptor.
  2. For the MDR they will let a man in with shorts on embarkation day evening. I can't answer about specialty restaurants as I have never done one on embarkation day but my guess would be yes. That is only a guess though.
  3. No kidding. That should make you think instead of having a one track mind on this subject. Whether RCI will let you board with whatever documants depends on the itinerary. But some like to see all that is published on cruise line websites in black and white. They are not going to list every country and itinerary because there are multiple possibilities so they publish a general statement of what is acceptable. That does not mean it is required on every cruise.
  4. I don’t get notifications emailed either. I use the bell but I also have content I posted in as my default activity stream. So when there are new posts the topic is in bold.
  5. It says accepted. It does not say required. Some countries do require 6 months so they are covering themselves. If you read further down it mentions some cruises only require a birth certificate and photo ID. Think logically. If you can cruise with a birth certificate they are not going to turn away a valid passport on those itineraries. I traveled internationally on a cruise with Royal with a passport that had five months left because the year when I renewed I had a lot of travel and that was the best window. No problem at all as none all the countries only required a valid passport. Most people are not very careful so they should send their renewal in a year. before it expires.
  6. A passport does not have to have six months left except for a few countries and a few cruise lines.
  7. Viewings make me uncomfortable but out of respect I have attended a few. As you say different cultures and beliefs. When my father passed it was unexpected so I had them open the casket for me for closure but we had no viewing. When my mother passed I was there. No viewing, it is not our culture. I have attended a couple of funerals where the body had already been cremated. There was just an urn. There are many different beliefs.
  8. I have had two Real ID licenses from two different states.I moved. In neither state was I able to walk out with it. It was requred to be mailed to my street address as that was part of verifying residence for Real ID in those states. Perhaps Pennsylvania uses a different verification of address but not everyone in the US can walk out with a Real ID licence.
  9. Not my company and I have never used her tour company only heard it mentioned here and there. I don't recall if it was positive or not. The name of the ex police officers tour company that was mentioned was Bermuda Island Tours.
  10. When you take the path to the right as njhorseman says the first beach you will come to almost right away from Warwick is Jobson's Cove which is at beach level. Then depending on the tides you will take some trails above the beaches because of the rock formations but you will be able to go back down to the beach level. The tides change so how much of the walk is at beach level and how much is above beach level can vary.
  11. I keep a copy of my DL, passport, Medicare card, eye prescription as notes in the notes app on my iPhone. Can scan them right in within the app. There are digital DL’s now but I think only 10 states have them yet.
  12. The passport card can be used for domestic air travel. It can not be used for international air travel. That has not changed. You still need the passport book for international air travel. Don’t confuse Real ID for domestic air travel which my someday actually not be postponed for ID used for international air travel. Real ID, Passport cards, EDLs can not be used for international air travel.
  13. If you have a passport card you can use it on a closed loop cruise. You don't need the passport book. Or you can use a birth certificate and photo ID on a closed loop cruise if you don't have a passport book or passport card. If you don't have a passport book or card and are trying to decide what to apply for I advise not applying only for a passport card. You won't be able to use the passport card for international air travel. Many order both the book and add the card to have a backup government ID.
  14. The Swizzle Inn is large, multistory. I try to get a table outside on the balcony if any are free. Been there a bunch of times and it was never hard to get a table. Since cruise passengers would have to take a bus or taxi to get there I don't think they get swamped but it is always a lively crowd as it is popular. People buy pitchers of rum swizzle, different sizes available, and they have pub food which in my option is pretty good but you don't have to order food. The Island Tour Centre https://www.islandtourcentre.com has a small building near the ship berths, you would walk past it to get into the Dockyard proper or to the ferry, has sunset tours and you can book there the day of if they have space available or you can book online. I think the office closes at 4 or 5. I really don't know how fast those sunset tours sell, if they would still have space available the day off the tour.
  15. It would be nice to know but in this instance it does not appear we are going to get more info as OP does not know the person who it happened too. Even if we got or get more information I think that anyone in a similar situation would have to anxiously worry. I don’t think that there is any guarantee that they would be able to board. The only thing in my opinion we can know is don’t give up. It could have gone the other way. None should think no worry they will let me board because I heard they let somebody else board.
  16. There is some flexibility to prove identity. I know from past discussions that some on Cruise Critic can't comprehend that. They think everything is absolute. They think anyone without photo ID has no chance of being allowed to board but despite that belief identity can be proved without a photo ID.
  17. You don't understand that there are different beliefs? That is not a difficult concept.
  18. The food matters to me. If it didn't I might as well keep booking Celebrity. I had heard the food was good on Viking but you say otherwise. I was on Azamara a long time ago, so long ago that liquor was not included, The food and cruise was good but not enough for me to run out and book Azamara again. After cruisiing Oceania I did feel like booking Oceania agian for th food. The other line that had good food was Cunard but I don't want to wear tuxedos three nights and suits two nights all evening.
  19. Everyone is different but I could not have emotionally handled staying on the ship. Since it was San Juan not Timbuktu I think I would have opted to get off with the remains and fly back.
  20. That is actually the reality of todays world. No one carries many spare parts. Parts are ordered. At the last two condos if the buildings elevator broke it would take a week or two to get parts. if the garage door broke it would take two weeks to fix because the parts needed had to be ordered. Certainly there was no expectation that the morgues refrigeration would fail.
  21. I don't mind two hours either. If I want a faster dinner I would have gone to the Terrace Cafe. We don't like 2 tops though because we like to meet poeple. Usually it works out sharing a table. The only problem we had with the food was at one of the specialty restaurants. I forget which one. The Dover Sole was recomended and it was very good but they forgot to fillet my friends fish. Mine was filleted. I know someone got in trouble for that and we recieved a lot of apologees. So if you order fish check....
  22. If I were wandering around St. George and then going back to Kings Wharf (Dockyard) it would be best to take a ferry to St. George’s and take a ferry to the Dockyard. A taxi back to Kings Wharf would be expensive. The Royal Navel Dockyard is the actual location of where ships are docking on the West End of Bermuda. King’s Wharf is the name of one of the two berths at the Dockyard. Cruise lines designating the port as King’s Wharf is an anachronism. There are some taxis that hang out at the Town Square. They are best used for shorter trips like to the Swizzle Inn, Caves, Coopers island Reserve, Tobacco Bay or Fort St. Catherine.
  23. I would never tell anyone to join the military to see the world. If they are interested in seeing the world I would advise them to take time after graduating from school, HS or college before getting settled, and backpack, staying at hostels etc.
  24. Japan is of great interest to me but I would never do a cruise there. I would want to be on land taking it all in, eating the local food and staying in local accommodations.
