  1. Well at the price of a PS, I can understand why all amenities would be provided. Now I know why I didn’t know about the kettle — I haven’t cruised in a PS.
  2. Did you have a “kettle” in your suite or a coffeemaker.? Coffeemakers are in Neptune suites, but I was not aware that there were kettles in suites
  3. Probably because if one was doing it in a video it would be a more honest response. Just typing on internet, one gets a feeling of anonymity and may not feel accountable for what is said, just my thoughts
  4. This current survey was a mass mailing to those who previously did one and those who didn’t. So I guess we are all special to HAL in our own special way.
  5. Holland America Line to sell its own branded coffee By Tom Stieghorst | Jan 22, 2019 | Holland America Line said it is the first cruise line to offer its own branded specialty coffee. Called Rotterdam 1873, the roast is produced in partnership with Beukenhorst Coffee USA of West Palm Beach, Fla., a U.S. outpost of Dutch coffee house Beukenhorst Koffie. Named for the city and year Holland America Line was founded, Rotterdam 1873 is a blend of Indonesian and Central and South American arabica coffee beans. Rotterdam 1873 is available for purchase by the cup, or guests can buy a regular or decaffeinated 12-ounce bag of the Rotterdam 1873 beans in the Explorations Cafe and Grand Dutch Cafe. HAL said it has been serving Beukenhorst coffee imported from the Netherlands for more than 20 years in the Lido Market, dining room and other venues where complimentary coffee is served. "Our hope with having Rotterdam 1873 available for purchase is that guests will go home and reminisce about their Holland America Line cruise each time they enjoy a cup of our coffee," said Hans Wiggemans, co-founder of Beukenhorst Coffee USA.
  6. Yes thank you. The shuttle in 2016 did not have to be pre arranged. When you exited int’l arrivals instead of going straight to taxi rank, you turned right and they had a small booth at the curb with an attendant. You told them which hotel you were going to and when the right van was there they loaded you. Vans were continuously coming and going.
  7. Some cruise lines require priority guests to obtain timed passes from the concierge if there are many priority guests. I dont know if Hal does the same. Definitely everyone would not fit on the first tender
  8. I did the taxi in 2015. But i liked the company that had the small 12 passenger vans in 2016. They stopped at each hotel in circular quay that had passengers on that van. Sounds like they may not have survived covid?
  9. On our last trip to Sydney in 2016, as we exited arrivals and walked toward the taxi rank, we walked to the right and there were shuttles there ( 10 to 12 passenger buses) where we registered with the attendant and told them our hotel name and then they directed us to the correct shuttle . We paid I believe 20 dollars each and they stopped at two or three hotels for dropoffs and then dropped us right at our hotel. Does anyone know if this service still exists? We are arriving there in April on a Monday morning.
  10. Great and timely topic. It prompted my wife and I to review our wishes and processes prior to our upcoming one month cruise . We now have all our ducks in a row so to speak should it unfortunately happen to one of us. Thank you.
  11. What part of it would be funny?
  12. When we did RCI longer cruise, we met people at Trivia and we would always meet at one particular pub for socializing before we all went our separate ways for dinner. From Trivia, to pre dinner meet ups and other run ins on the ship, we firmed some great friendships
  13. It is the “departure dates may be substituted without prior notice” that would concern me. What if you’re still working and that is only vacation period you have? What if you already have air booked and sail date changes?
  14. Thank you that answers my question
  15. Yes I understand that but what I’m asking is if I purchase the multi device plan, can my wife be signed on her Ipad at the same time that I am signed in on my Ipad? Or do we both have to buy the $291.99 plan to do that?
  16. Question? My wife and I have a 25 night cruise booked. Price for premium internet pre cruise is $291.99 for one device or 459.99 for multi devices. the details for the multi device says: ” The plan can be activated on up to 4 devices at a time, but all must be using the same Navigator credentials, “ So if we both want to have internet access at the same time, do we each purchase the $291.99 or does one of us purchase the $459.99 plan? I didn't know what “ but all must be using the same Navigator credentials” meant. Thanks
  17. On my upcoming cruise, crew appreciation was included in the price, but it still gives me the option of purchasing it when i go to My Booking. To ensure I had a record of it being included, I had HAL send me an updated copy of my booking confirmation and it is listed there.
  18. Holland America does have “Luggage Forward”. Where the company picks up your luggage at your home and ships and delivers it directly to your ship for day of sailing. It is not cheap , but might be worth it
  19. I do all my bookings directly with HAL reservations and leave the booking with them. Reason is because of what has been noted in some of the posts on this thread - TA’s and PCC’s are usually closed or otherwise not available when I want something done with my reservation. TA’s in my area dont seem to offer any additional perks. I maintain total control of my reservation and so far have never had a problem getting prompt service from the reservation staff when I need it. If I need something done on a Saturday, I dont have to wait till Monday
  20. But the OP can start in San Diego and end in Fort Lauderdale? I understood the OP was departing FLL and visiting various ports on the way to Montreal and ending in Boston. Wouldnt Montreal and the other ports visited qualify as foreign ports under PVSA?
  21. But on a transpacific you can go from Honolulu to Seattle with no stop in between. Isnt that the same?
  22. My current PCC , who was automatically assigned many months ago works 6:00am to 2:30 pm Mon to Fri. I don't like being restricted to that timeframe for planning my cruises, so I have never used her. I simply call reservations and work with whoever answers. I do the same for maintenance on my bookings. When I made my current booking with reservations a few months ago, i received an email two days later from the PCC thanking me for booking with her. I assume they gave her credit for the booking. Later , I phoned her and left a message for callback - no callback after two days. So I emailed her with the question - two days later received a response. I do not consider that acceptable service, so I called a supervisor to have her removed and told them I prefer to deal with reservations department or online going forward.
